Meh, I've been fine and busy either way. Love Red Wings hockey, love Olympic hockey, been doing my normal stuff during the days with work and outside of work during the Olympics just as I have with the Red Wings.

Nope. I just talk random gibberish all the time. The person below me has stuck a ringing alarm clock in somebody's face recently to mess with them.

I saw one of those photoshopped pictures where you change the title of the picture frames below...saw one in here a few days ago of Canada - Teamwork You Are Doing it Wrong where it was a picture of 2 Canadian players running into each other during the U.S. game I think. Anybody know what I'm talking about? If so, does anybody have it or can you find it for me? Cannot locate it and I have some other things that have come up right now. Thanks for any help!

^ This. Bless Kopecky's heart, I got nothing against him, was glad for his service/attempted service or whatever to the Red Wings. He got a game winning goal in the Olympics last night. Great for him, he did what he needed to do. However I'll state again that pretty much Stevie Wonder could've scored that goal, the rebound was so juicy and goal was so wide open. That's not a knock on Kopecky, just simply stating that anybody could've scored that goal. And it's great that he got selected to play in the Olympics, but it also goes to show that the lack of depth Slovakia has as a country right now in terms of NHL talent. They took Sweden out last night yes, but have these current rosters playing each other 10 times, I'd put money on Sweden winning at least 7 of them, and that's generous. Probably should be more like 8 or 9 out of 10. IN a single game elmination attempt, anything can happen, and it just happened to be Slovakia's night in the end, good for them, and good for Kopecky. OVerall though, he still hasn't been all that good of a player. He may still have potential, but he's not as good no matter how hard eva unit zero keeps trying to convince people over and over again. A game winning goal in an Olympic game that was pretty much a tap-in does not change that. Everybody gets that he has potential to be better. He hasn't shown that overall on a consistent basis though.

Nope, haven't really thought about it, don't really think it's that big a deal. A medal is a medal and it's special to win one, nothing more or less. Not worth get worked up over if there's any side stories along with it. LMAO 55fan! The person below me thinks this is funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsqjM9AEqlU

I know this is going to sound like I'm dogging him - and I'm definitely not one who pretty much dogged him 24-7-365 on here, but my kid nephew could've scored on that goal it was so wide open for a rebound. Could've fitted a beach ball in there. Kudos to Kopecky for doing his job though there and finishing. He played good overall this game.

Learning some of the Olympics rules and watching some of the games made me wonder the following... Shootouts - I still like them and they have their place in the regular season, even though the Wings have stunk at them this year overall. I actually think the NHL 1ups the Olympics rules in this one. I don't like how you can use the same shooter over and over again after 3. I'd rather you use somebody only once. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing shootouts being expanded to best-of-5 if they still continue to be around. No-Touch Icing - Doesn't really matter to me if this is enacted in the NHL or not. No opinion on it one way or another. NHL Standings - I'm all for going back to a win-loss-tie format, but if they stay with the shootout, do what they do in the Olympics right now. Less points for a win after regulation. I'd go even further. Three points for a win in regulation, two in overtime, one in a shootout, and zero points for a loss - no questions asked. No dinky point awarded for losing in overtime or a shootout, even though the Wings have had plenty this year. And it goes without saying that I'd love to expand the ice surface for the NHL, but it won't ruin my day if it doesn't happen.

NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics

Bad - Having the shootout decide elimination games. It's a shame Belarus had to have their fate sealed in a shootout. I like them, but only for regular season or preliminary games in this case of the Olympics. Playoff/elimination games should be sudden death! These aren't though I'm assuming though because of time constraints/multiple teams. -
Today is going to be the BEST hockey day in a long, long time!

You sure about that? -
They are big boys, they can handle it. If they get injured, yeah it'll suck but that's the breaks sometimes.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)
SouthernWingsFan replied to redwings8831's topic in General
I stand corrected on the latter, but my other point to you still stands. You still don't get it. You weren't being funny. Learn when to shut up sometimes and not say anything and not act like a big shot. I'm done with this. -
2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)

You don't get it. Quit trying to be a prissy show off and impressing people with super smart details and analysis and trying to make others look like they are morons. Nobody is going to give a damn, especially when this isn't the place for such discussion. The joke happened, it happened a long time ago, it finished a long time ago. Sometimes you need to learn when to just shut up. -
A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. I bet you are saying this largely because of the recent Canadian loss to the U.S. While Canada should beat the United States most games, anybody can beat anyobdy else in a 1-game scenario. McLellan certainly played his part in winning a Cup. But to say that he is the majority or sole reason they won the Cup through coaching is stupid. He played his part just like everybody else to win the Stanley Cup - coaches, players, etc. That includes Babcock.

Another thread without line combinatons from blueadams? Just messin' with ya... The Olympics are a short tourney for hockey. So while Canada shoyuld be disappointed that they lost to the U.S. and had to play an extra game and not to downplay the victory for the U.S. because it really is a big deal - seeing an upset or two shouldn't be too surprising given the short nature of the tourney (Latvia won a couple of games to surprise in the last Olympics, so did the Swiss, etc.). Not meant to downplay the U.S. victory, just using that as a current example. The U.S. SHOULD beat Switzerland, but in just a 1-game elimination decider, any team can win on any given night. So while the U.S. will be favored and SHOULD win, I will not be shocked if they lose. Not because of the team or personnel, but because of the 1-game theory.

NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics
SouthernWingsFan replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Other quick thoughts since I watched more games/know more rules. Didn't mention the trapezoid area in my original post. That needs to die a quick death in the NHL IMO. More on shootouts/penalty shots - Again I like them for NHL in regular season, they are fine as they are for the most part in current scenarios, I just don't like the current standings rule in conjuction with shootouts (the OT/shootout loss point). I hope they do not go to what the Olympics do to where you can pretty much let anybody shoot a penalty shot after a penalty is committed or going back to the same people over and over again. The NHL actually does better than the Olympics on shootouts/penalty shots IMO.
