Why didn't Jiri Hudler make Czech's Olympic Team?
SouthernWingsFan replied to 13dangledangle's topic in General
Jiri Hudler threads... These rarely ever turn up good... -
Waffleboarded away. My absolute favorite from that crew.

While I definitely don't mind curling, this above is my biggest beef... *Quoting your post as we both responded at the same time roughly and your post is nestled on the very bottom of the page, wanted to give you proper recognition *

As for watching the games themselves, I don't care what channel they are on as lnog as they are on - NBC, VS, the Cartoon Network, The Food Network, whatever. As for the Crosby leg humping by NBC annoucers...it's stupid but what can ya do... It is inexcusable though IMO to return to game action late from a commercial. The first Swiss goal against Canada last night I was unable to see because of this.

Fair enough. Once, just once with some consistency though, I'd like to hear these guys talk about how other Canadians, that's other Canadians, can take over a game. Because they sure have plenty on the roster outside of NHL's Saviour that are capable of doing so. Joe Thornton Jarmone Iginla Ryan Getzlaf Rick Nash etc.

Movies, I rarely watch TV other than local news and live sports. "F" or "eet"

You and I - Rick James

Kinda. The person below me thinks this is cool.

It's their job to disagree with each other. And when Crosby's name gets brought up every 5 seconds by the broadcasting crew, it wouldn't surprise me if Roenick flipped his lid a little bit.
-
It's also not much of a stretch to request to talk about other players just as good/nearly as good on a somewhat consist basis. Thornton, Getzlaf, Hossa, Lidstrom, etc. You would think there are 12 Sidney Crosbys out on the ice with the attention he gets. The Kid gets mentioned so much I'm now often wondering if my last name is Crosby. If I played a drinking game revolved around taking a shot every time Crosby's name gets mentioned, I'd be dead by now from overdose. It's absurd.

Shoot, I thought we were talking about the actor Bing Crosby!

Yep. The person below me thinks this is funny.

2010 Winter Olympics - United States vs Switzerland
SouthernWingsFan replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Strong game, minus a few turonver gaffes and odd man rushes, a pretty solid game against an opponent that shouldn't be taken lightly. If the Swiss could've finished a bit better though, this game would've been a lot more interesting. -
In terms of "running up the score" in large margin games that seems to get some in a tizzy... While I'm not going to throw the kitchen sink at them in games like this, if their defense still can't stop me, I'm not going to purposefully not score/attempt to score. USA or Canada shouldn't be ashamed in winning as big as they did the past two games. Two years ago I went to a football game where I went to school and they were playing a I-AA school. All but a guaranteed win as long as they didn't miss the game or the other team just didn't play the game of their lives. We were up 42-7 at halftime, and then after the 1st series going up 49-7 in the 3rd quarter, pretty much all the starters got pulled from the game. We scored even more with backups and won the game 67-7. In both examples, I'm not going to throw my superstars at an overmatched opponent if a game is all but settled already but if they can't even stop my scrubs or even my top players just screwing around, I'm not going to feel guilty about continually scoring.

Brandon Dubinsky calling Sidney Crosby a little baby
SouthernWingsFan replied to Finnish Wing's topic in General
Crosby still smells. *shrugs* -
Thankfully the season doesn't end today. They may make it, they may not. I'm very hopefully and cautiosuly optimistic but the odds aren't all that great and the Wings are probably going to have to rely on other teams not playing well either. If the Wings can somehow get a ridiculous winning streak of 5+ games or whatever the odds obviously improve, but other things/other teams sturggling will have to fall into place as well to improve the Wings standing.

:usaflag: obviously first Sweden because of a good bit of Red Wings obviously. Then Canada b/c they are the neighboring country, even though they got people that I and I assume plenty here don't like much (Crosby, Perry, etc.). Although it would humor me a bit to see Canada go down early.

*smacks forehead* :nonono: It's stuff like this where you who won't even let me or others enjoy just 1 or 2 drinks in a normal setting. You have to ruin the mood.
-
Nope. The person below me thinks this is funny.

Acoustic? Boogars or Doo Doo

Good for y'all. Now let me and others have a few drinks in a responsible manner without giving us a guilt trip or lecture about drinking and driving when we know we'll get home safely. We get it.

Brandon Dubinsky calling Sidney Crosby a little baby

You really don't see why people dislike Crosby so much? Ovechkin may do dirty stuff sometimes, Thornton may get chippy at times as well when things don't go his way, but it is much easier to dislike a person with an attitude problem when he acts like a 10 year old. Neither of those other guys, to me, have attitude problems where they either intentionally act like blatant a'holes all the time or act like a little child. Do others act like a 10 year old as well, at least once in their life? In all likelihood yes. But Crosby has the magnifiying glass on him, fair or not. And when he acts like a little child as well as getting so much attention, both fair/deserved and unnecessary over-the-top attention from media, it's going to make people dislike him more than others. It's not that hard to figure out. Some of you need to quit trying to make others feel wrong from disliking him more than others or that we are jealous of him in some way. We are not. We get that he is a great player. We just don't like the over-the-top-coverage about him and the whining/moan factor that media seems to just brush off like it's no big deal. It's much easier to dislike a guy who either acts like a little baby or a blatant jerk most the time on purpose vs. somebody who might play hard on the ice/playing surface or maybe throw a questionable hit sometimes. At least for myself. Sean Avery is another example with the questiable attitude aspect. He does his role fairly well but plenty don't like him, at least from posts in here (while some do obviously). You can only take his attitude and drama queen attention stuff for so long at times (at least in the recent past).
