Hockey parent uses laser pointer to "blind" opposing goalie
SouthernWingsFan replied to Gizmo's topic in General
That's a shame that they won't overturn that. Absolutely piss poor behavior by that parent obviously. If you have kids that are serious about playing any sport, they need to learn about winning and losing eventually, but there are hundreds of other parents out there who while they may get carried away rooting for their son or daughter to do well at times (not necessarily a bad thing), are still perfectly capable of letting the games deciding themselves. -
Nope. Love my current car, been great for me, plenty of gas mileage, I'm going to run it to the ground hopefully for about 4 or 5 more years. The person below me is going to get down and give me 20.

If you want to look at some kind of correlation if teams who win Presidents Trophies also win the Stanley Cup, I don't think that it's that important. Not trying to say/imply that the trophy is a jinx, or that it is more important than it is in this sense. So, given that and most years, I think it's a nice goal to have and something to strive for, but not of the utmost importance in the world. However, given this year that the division the Wings are in 4 of the 5 teams simply would not lose at most points in the season (now 3 of 5) and the Wings dominance at home most this season, I'd say it is very important in this season. At worst getting one of the top 3 seeds in the league.

No clue. No idea who/what they got for him or traded away. Too much going on at work/outside of work to pay attention to trades in depth. The person below me is ready to assume the position.

Probably work. I always need more sleep because I typically get little (not due to stress or worry, just by design/habit in my usual daily routine). Just like being active or working with something, anything more often than not as long as I'm not mentally fatigued. Funnier 7-up commerical...Cute Dog or Race Car

I know very little to nothing about running a business, but you don't make a deal just to make a deal for the sake of it or only to win everything NOW. If it were only about winning now with any financial considerations involved, deals could be made out the wazoo. Some of you would put a sports organization out of business if all you wanted to do was get the flavor of the week or month. I get wanting to get better or getting a great player, but at what cost for the long term? Again I want to win every year, but there are financial considerations involved for the long term. Some of your reactions around this time of year are absolutely out of your minds and you completely forget that this team, while with its flaws (like every other team that will have weaknesses), is still one of the best in the league. You all know who you are. And for some, it's the same absurd overreactions every year just wanting this new flavor of the month mentality. Now, I already know I will likely get a response back, snooty or civil in some form that'll go like, "Well you must like the Wings exiting in the 2nd round or early in the playoffs then." No, I don't. You can look at it the glass-half-empty way thinking that the Wings are f'ed and won't go far. If it were a few seasons ago where they almost had trouble making the playoffs all together, I might be with you, but that's not the case. They are all but in now and still have a good chance of being one of the top seeds. I like looking at it half-full, not in a homerish nothing is wrong with the team way, but that they were just 1 win away from at the very worst going to the conference finals last year. If they would've advanced, then who knows. Given that, and that there is just so much parity in the league and the teams being so good where almost no matchup whether it is 1-8 or 4-5 is a slam dunk prediction saying one team will likely definitely win, I still like the Wings chances of making a deep run. The roster isn't that much different from last season's team and if they can avoid the injury bug and bring their hard hats to work and match the other teams intensity/desparation, they win more often than they lose.

I am speaking of shootouts alone and nothing else, so I am not wanting to turn this into a Hudler hate thread for anything else for anybody that really dislikes him, or for the one fan in here who typically overhypes his value. He's had his good moments obviously, i.e. like Zetterberg in shootouts before he eventually got yanked out of the usual rotation years ago, but I just don't think he's doing as good in it. Datsyuk and Bertuzzi are still obvious choices. Do you think Hudler should still be in one of the spots, or somebody else? I think it's time to either put Zetterberg back in it or give Filppula regular shot in the rotation.

Nah, not really. Just really like maybe 2 or 3 country songs ever off the top of my head. Even going to college in Texas didn't really sway me to like it much either. If I'm with friends or a group of people around me that prefer it, I just keep quiet and tolerate it and let them enjoy the time. The person below me thinks this is funny.

Definitely wouldn't be against it. It's not like we'd be counting on him for top-line minutes and he's had spurts of success on a 2nd/3rd line role. And as often is the case with scapegoats or whipping boys, which Samuelsson often was here, their negative status is often overdramatized.

I get wanting to see young guys or people from Grand Rapids more, but unless Cleary is injured beyond repair, which I am definitely not hinting or suggesting at, none of them are going to be called up ahead of him. The Cleary disdain in here in general, while far from flooding the forums here, is still boggling. Some of you are nuts regarding the subject, and you know who you are. I am not making him out to be more than he is, so you can save your keystrokes there. And spare us any "Cleary apologist" or similar responses. Eventually when all forwards are healthy again, I think he is best suited for the 3rd line with Helm/Miller etc., but to say he isn't capable in more of a scoring role isn't accurate to me. The recent past of 2009 playoffs where he netted 9 and scoring 25+ goals last season attest that he is capable of such a role, even if his numbers don't quite show that this season.

I always like a pun, good or bad. As for my activity on NHL.com, I typically check it most days on the standings update and the like. Usually don't go there much for news or media/video, but I don't check too many sports sites anymore in general for that kinda stuff anymore, just isn't part of my routine on Internet surfing and the like much anymore given work and routine outside of work now. Not saying the site stinks or is the greatest thing since sliced bread. They give users plenty of info and media options to go from.

Beads were all but impossible to put on with that costume on, hehe. I'm not really big on wearing them anyways, I just give them to others or store them away. To balance the scale out for those not to be completely goofed out from that picture above, here's a normal one of me. *shrugs*

The rare times I might see Don Cherry on TV, I just view him for entertainment purpose and to see what spiffy suit he has on next. While what he might typically say about toughness or brass knuckles is accurate, generally speaking, he goes so overboard with it that I don't take him seriously and it's not worth getting panties in a bunch over his same schtick.
