Nope, not really ironic at all. Because it was earlier in the season, when it was much, much harder to predict what would happen in the playoffs. Nobody really knew who would be in or out. Now with only 20 games left or so, it is a bit easier to say that now with some accuracy. If it makes you sleep easier at night though, keep thinking that theen.

Ugh. I did not make the victory parade celebration last night. I was so angry. I got sick Monday and it lasted until about this morning. Logic would dictate that celebrating too much Sunday after the win would be the cause, but I didn't have all that mcuh to drink that day and woke up fine Monday morning. Went to work and just went downhill straight after that. I was so bummed to not feel well and miss the parade. Anyways, here are some pictures of Super Bowl Sunday at least in downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter, pre and post-game. And yes, there was even a Mardi Gras parade that day.

While what you said is completely true, 20 games is nearly a 1/4 season, their last 20 games before that they haven't completely dominated either. And before that in December or whatever. All this work the past few months to climb from what, 12th/11th in the conference to 9th/8th? If they continue to play .500 hockey the last 20 games they could possibly improve to 6th or 7th, but they could just as easily miss alltogether. They need some decent winning streaks going ASAP.

Everybody save the who is a real or fake type of fan bulls**t. It is so fricken annoying. Firstly, I'd get on people a lot more saying this season is in deep trouble if it were a scenario like last year around this time - namely that there were big problems with defense and goaltending, but we were a lock to make the playoffs. I'd just tell people in this situation to settle down, they'll be all right, and we'll see what happens in the playoffs as it is a different season and the Wings were all but in. Secondly, this season is not over, the Wings still have opportunities to improve their standing, despite what some are saying in here. However, for the ones being smart allecs to others with panic icons and the like now - with only roughly 20-25 games left in the season - what has this team showed you lately that makes you think, "This team will make the playoffs without any difficulty? They'll easily get in as a 4 or 5 seed." What makes you think this? They haven't shown me anything lately suggesting that. I would be right there with some of you telling others to get a grip if it was the beginning of the season or the Wings have all but wrapped up a playoff spot, but they haven't. The time to just brush these things aside and say that this team is fine or will be all right is gone. They could easily make the playoffs, and we can all laugh and giggle and have a good time, but it is not a definite, and while there are still chances, they are running out chances to improve their standing, and they cannot just rely on other lower seeds possibly screwing up. Of course that may play out where others might play .500 hockey and it comes down to the final 2 or 3 games, but I'd rather not seem them take that risk. While I'll always definitely hope for the best, their odds of making the playoffs slowly get harder and harder every time they lose a shootout or get outplayed in a game losing in regulation. They need to win a lot. And they need to do it now.

For who specifically? Not what, but who? While I won't be shocked if they miss the playoffs, the season is not over yet.

You play the percentages. Williams is around 40%, which is pretty darned good for shootouts, so I'm not shocked he got back into the rotation there. I'm all for sparking a changed in shootouts replacing Zetterberg temporarily, with Flipper or Bertuzzi getting the initial nods for that 3rd spot.

True, but Ericcson's play has been much left to be desired lately, although that has more to do with defensive goof-ups/turnovers than offensive stuff/PPs.

Johan Hedberg when he was with Pittsubrgh had his minor league helmet all throughout the playoffs - it was blue/powder blue when the Pitt jerseys were obviously not. Give it time, he'll get it changed.

I think that faulty logic is not your friend here.

A lot of people dislike him because of the tone he brings out with his opinions. Not really.

I'm not throwing in the towel, but these past few games, espeically last game don't give much excuse. They blew a 3-0 lead last game and have blown leads way too much lately. This would be much more tolerable if they weren't sweating bullets to make the playoffs, but they are sweating to make the playoffs and cannot just count on help from lower seeds possibly tanking as well. They need to win much more. And do it now. It is not outside the realm of possiblity that they miss the playoffs, and if they keep blowing leads or play around .500 hockey down the stretch, that possiblity goes much higher. It's about being positive AND realistic. If being realistic pointing out that 9th place right now this late in the season might not cut it makes me negative, well then I'm sorry, that's your problem to deal with, not mine. And yes, I get that Pitt made the playoffs last year and won a Cup in a similar scenario.
