Pronger. He's one of the better d-men out there but he's also a dirty cheap shot artist. As much as Crosby is spoonfed to us when it's stuff like "Crosby can turn water into wine" instead of just "Crosby is a great hockey player", it doesn't bother me as much as others and I think the whining about him is just as bad sometimes, if not worse.

While mindfly is often a negative nancy, I don't see how this was anything vintage mindfly or out of line or anything. Howard still leaves out juicy rebounds every now and then (while others do as well).

While Leino has more potential upside in the long-term than Miller IMO and I'm all for still trying to keep him in the system, in the present Miller has produced more and the Wings don't have the luxury of testing stuff out or whatever as they are fighting for every point in the standings until the regular season ends. If it comes down to a line being with Flipper-Williams when he finally gets back, Miller for the time being. If for whatever reasons Miller starts to slide, put Leino back in.

The joke of a call on the Bertuzzi penalty finally did it for me. I have lost all faith in them showing some shred of competence in a consistent manner. I often gave them the benefit of the doubt a few seasons ago when Holmstrom got called for ridiciulous phantom interefernce calls. Slowly and surely the quality of officials on the product has just turned into an absolute joke this season, with intent to blow the whistles too frequent waving off goals, phantom interference goals, and crap calls like the one on Bertuzzi tonight. And this is just watching my favorite team, I wander how bad it is league wide. I'm not going to say that officials or Bettman or NHL higher ups have it in for the Wings or want them to fail because I don't do conspiracy theories or stuff like that, but the officiating overall this year has been terrible. I can handle losing, I can get over a loss or even my favorite teams playing like dirt some games, because losses are a part of life. I rarely take wins/losses too seriously on the emotional scale. What absolutely infurates me though is referees playing a much bigger role in determining an outcome of a game than is necessary, in any sport. It happened tonight with the crap Bertuzzi call, it happened in the recent Dallas game, it happened in another game against Dallas, a game on the road against Colorado with an intent to blow the whiste call, etc. EDIT: And if you thought the Bertuzzi call was legit, that's cool, agree to disagree on that one (a term which I hate ), but overall the quality of the body of work in officiating this year has been awful.

It's not really that hard to figure out. Howard got his chance when Osgood was down or sick or whatever, he put together a run and it's hard to justify taking him out on a consistent basis. Until Howard falters consistently/gets injured, Osgood isn't going to have much of a chance right now with the Wings fighting for points. They don't have the luxury of "waiting to see" if Osgood gets his game back for the regular season like last year. It has nothing to do with treating Osgood like a buddy because he's been a team player or handling him with sensitivity gloves, and has everything to do with getting wins/points. I like 'em both and want them both/the goaltending to succeed here. If this makes me an ungreatful fan for what Osgood has done for this team, well, I'm sorry.

Nobody is mad at May because he's not playing great nor terrible. Hard to get mad at somebody in that state.
