F**KING AWESOME!!!! And always funny/funnier than mine. The person below me would smack their sibling or roomate in real life if this happened to them (and kinda thinks this is funny).

+1000 for the Quailman costume. Doug wasn't my fav. cartoon around whne I was a kid, but how can you not like a character who wears underwear over his pants/shorts? Sweet costumes everybody! Cool stuff with the former NHLers Wpg.

That's fair enough. Not saying you specifically GoWings are thinking this, but plenty of times either here (and other places I'm assuming) Wings fans got all up in arms from others saying that they could spend plenty to win a Stanley Cup recently before Salary Cap era. While it's not entirely just about payroll, the Red Wings had that flexibility, and used it to their advantage. The Yankees are doing the same. Now people in here are getting all hellbent at the Yankees for having the flexibility and money to help aid in winning a championship. It just doesn't quite make sense to me and to a degree it's the pot meeting the kettle with some Wings fans in here. Capitalism. You have more money, you're usually able to spend a bit more to improve your business/team. Doesn't always work out but it has in the past for both the REd Wings and the Yankees.

Maybe I'm reaching too deep, but does anything else think Bertuzzi's been trying the blind backhand pass in the own zone a bit too much? Outside of that, for the mots part he's going to the net more often than not, just can't buy a goal to save his life kinda like his 1st brief stint here. As far as it looks right now, doesn't look like he's being hindured by naggging injuries/back etc. which is good.

Free deal soon to end and time to buy Center Ice
SouthernWingsFan replied to Stiffy's topic in General
Still not going to pony up $150+ dollars to do Center Ice itself, but I might do a subscription to NHL Gamecenter or hockeystreams.com. I paid for a 1-day subscription to hockeystreams using HD premium (highest of 2 selections available) to watch last nights game online, and it was pretty solid for watching on a CPU monitor. Puck was difficult to track sometimes (to be expected) but game flow was very, very smooth - better than any online streams I've found without cost. I might try to hold out a bit longer though with free streams if they are availalbe and possibly only pay for 1/2 a season roughly if I do buy, because it obviously gets cheaper as the season goes along either on hockeystreams or NHL Gamecenter. -

This just in: At the pregame dinner before the Penguins-Kings game tonight, Sidney Crosby ate a steak, cooked well-done. It caused such an uproar for Wings fans and LGWers that he had his steak cooked well-done, as opposed to medium, becuase legends such as Wayne Gretzky whom Crosby is often compared to usually eats steaks medium. Penguins fans shot back at the Red Wings fans demanding to respect the beauty and art of both a prepared steak that is well-done, as well as Crosby eating the well-done steak. Media resulted in taking at least 20 photos of Crosby's well-done steak, getting detailed shots of the steak's volume, depth, thickness, and length. More to come at the 10:30 news report. ------- And that ends my lame attempt to poke fun at everybody with Crosby attention.

So what you're saying if we hang out with Sidney Crosby, we'll save a lot in our life? I like saving with coupons, could never have enough of those at the grocery store! Sounds like a swell idea!

Plenty of lovely stuff in here. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi.../content.1.html

They both still spent a lot in their respective leagues. That is not deniable.

^ This. And before the Salary Cap was implemented, the Wings were one of the bigger spending teams in the NHL, just like the Yankees are in MLB presently. So it's hypocritical for Wings fans to irriationally hate the Yankees for buying championshionships. The Wings obviously didn't just buy championships alone, drafted well and the like etc., but you get what I'm sayin.

That depends on the league's definition of 'Automatic'

I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over the whole Malkin situation in the FInals in game 2. Him not being suspended did not cause the Wings to lose the series no matter how paranoid or bitter some Wings fans want to be about the whole ordeal. The rule is meant for enforcers/goonery to cool there stuff at the end of a game when things are out of hand, I understand it and won't get too worked up over it, but I'm all for simplicity. Black and white, no grey area. Either completely enforce the rules or don't. -
Indeed. ERiccson already has 3 goals and 8 points I think so early. Would love for Homer and Ericsson to keep up the pace but it'll probably settle down at some point, just like Lidstrom producing more on the scoresheet in all likelihood. Lidstrom is fine.

^ This. For me personally, it rarely bugs me that Crosby gets so much attention. More often than not I generally don't read much into general media/news of professional leagues, just skim information and the like. So typically if guys like Crosby, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Tim Tebow etc. get too much attention, I don't really worry about it. It's merited to a large degree but I definitely wouldn't mind more attnetion to other players. I just wish people could grow up about Crosby himself (or any other athlete above ) about it with the mud slinging towards him/other athletes because 9 times out of 10, they aren't intentally a'holes or bad people or haven't done anything wrong, whatever - as has been stated in this thread. I don't know if that's too much to ask of people or not. In terms of media coverage in this regard, it's a no win situation for these superstar athletes. I can't comment on Penguins fans in general or not on here, but on here the ones that have signed up to be members, they've shoved Crosby our collective faces as well with at one more/less that he is god's gift to earth, which is equally as annoying as Wings fans mudslinging him. I already know he's one of the best out there right now in hockey, I don't need to be reminded by Penguins fans aobut it. This has also been already mentioned on here but I can't find the exact posts/quotes so I apologize for not crediting previous posters for this. All three - obsessive media coverage, Wings fans (probably others as well outside the Penguins) with over-obsessive mudslinging on Crosby when it's not really necessary or relevant, and Penguins fans who hump his leg and expect us to do the same are equally to blame for all of this, and I wouldn't mind seeing all 3 stop.

Red Wings VP Jimmy Devellano on Fan 590: Wings fans should lower expec
SouthernWingsFan replied to kook_10's topic in General
^ This x 100. Possibly will be harder to win more consistently this season, but it's not like this team is just going to completely go down the tank as they've made postseason play for over 15 years, and I doubt that'll change this year. Expect high, but be realistic about things. Not much wrong with what Devellano said IMO. I'm not going to waste my time getting worked up about it or breaking each sentence or word down figuring out what he really meant. -
Schaeffer! Up High or Down Under

I could, but it's not urgent. The person below me thinks this is funny.

Crosby smells. Sorry, trash talking isn't part of my forte. *shrugs*

Can't they all just get along?!

I never claimed to be smart. *shrugs*
