You are silly. A bit too early to throw Howard under the bus IMO. Wouldn't be against getting another alternative for a backup goalie if the situation presents itself, but now isn't quite the time to throw up white flags regarding this yet.

In terms of others getting more playing time or time on the powerplay like Flipper or Cleary, it might be good, but this injury is NOT good for Franzen. I'm not a professional athlete, but I blew my ACL and MCL out playing pickup basketball in college. I had surgery on it about 5 1/2 years ago, and I still worry about tweaking it if I work out or play a sport or whatever. It may be healed up completely in 4 months, but I will not be shocked if Franzen plays cautious or whatever in risk of injuring it again.

I love Holmstrom. *shrugs*

Awesome stuff! You better not be one of those texters while driving! I like the 1-up dice. A few pics of myself during my brief vacation around Colorado Springs.

No, and that's nothing I will ever do anything soon. The person below me thinks this is funny. (DISCLAIMER: language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYkeNArR0gA

^ Yep. I remember a part of the game, 5 ON 5, where Holmstrom was a pain the butt to Huet and almost resulted in a goal. Of course I remember the brainfart of accidentally icing before the Chicago goal. Didn't quite get out of the zone which Holmstorm played a part of, but he had zilch to do with a freakish bounce of a skate to where Chicago had a tick-tack-toe play for that first goal. Lidstrom's goal was supposed to be a pass and bounced off a skate as well, let's not forget. Thems the breaks soemtimes. And there was the PP goal where he did his job. I personally like to consider BOTH the good AND the bad in a game. I will never be able to fully grasp and understand why some people just waste so much energy obsessively disliking people or trying to find out/pointing out faults over and over again and being so pissed off. EDIT: Especially when, unless you read or hear otherwise, it's slim/none that he's not going to be benched or having the night off, etc.

Did the fight have anything to do with momentum and the team winning? I'm sure it did (I was out watching the game so no sound, etc.), but to what degree is entirely subjective. What I'm sick and tired is the extremes on both sides on stuff like this completely overhyping or underemphasizing the value of this type of player, or this completely pro or anti enforcer bulls**t. Enforcers don't 100% deter s**t from hitting the fan, maybe not even 50% of the time. But such a player will improve the odds of stuff being a bit more calm. Too what degrees, again is subject, we all have to be the judge of that. They help teams get to the playoffs, perhaps they play in the playoffs as well if the scenario is right. Just because this team though might not have that prescence as much doesn't make them a bunch of wusses or whatever. This team knows how to play hard. It just means they don't have that prescence as much, nothing more or less. Honestly I think you will find very few people that are completely 100% against having such a player. Enforcers, tough guys, 4th line grinders, whatever the hell you want to call them play their roles on the team just like anybody else.

Typically with the case of a scapegoat player, the majority are going to overreact towards that athlete any chance they get, whether it's logical/illiogical, relevant or not, whatever. This is no exception either. Williams hasn't done anything overly extravagent IMO these first 3 games, but has done nothing even close for people to obnoxiously get on his case either. You need to call a spade a spade at some point, but it's hard to have these threads after such a small sample of games though. You could say the same thing about a majority of the players on the team right now, not being all that great but not terrible either.
-
Why don't you try to answer the question instead of dodging or calling people cute names. Nobody's going to get on your case if you don't answer it right or simply man up that you have a ridiculous biasedness.
-
So I ask you then, how does any of this - as you think/said it does- interpret to "People act like Holmstrom is making the Norris trophy winner, the Selke trophy winner, and the Conn Smythe trophy winner better players."
-
Nobody is downplaying anything. We just realize that Helm right now is a 3rd/4th line guy and that Holmstrom's game has been more suited for a 1st/2nd line during his career and still is in certain aspects of the game, moreso offensive roles. Nobody here has a HHO, you seem to have a Helm Hard On though.
-
Nobody is even close to acting or saying this.
-
Plenty of teams won't trade for players in their last year or two or three in their career, regardless of the sport. Seriously man, you must stop.

I'd make a great enforcer at 5'7" and 152 pounds.

Neither, but I'll typically give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove me otherwise or lie to me. Who has the better laugh....Bert or Ernie

Once a day typically. The person below me has stuck french fries up their nose before. (I'm in a random mood )

Raisins. Don't really like either but raisins would taste bettter in this scenario IMO. Koo Koo or Boc Boc Boc Boc Boc

St. Louis Blues - Herbie Hancock

Why should it be unanimous? Just because you don't like him? Helm is a better skater - yes. Pretty much anybody is a better skater than Holmstrom. I'm willing to try out whatever necessary for this team to win. If that means Helm on the first line and bumping Holmstrom off like you have awkward dreams about, fine. Holmstrom at times didn't see first line action in the playoffs last year, Cleary sometimes took that top spot as well. You're nutty dislikng of Holmstrom though in this thread is in overdrive, again. He's not a cancer or utterly useless, which you seem to selectively want to ignore.

Babcock alone didn't cost the Red Wings a Stanley Cup, Holmstrom alone didn't cost the Red Wings a Stanley Cup, Babcock and Holmstrom together by themselves didn't cost the Red Wings a Stanley Cup. Plenty else contributed to that. Just because some do not dislike Holmstrom as much as you do right now doesn't make these people any less of a Wings fan than you. We are all fans regardless. And if you would lower the biased volume on your meter, you will eventually realize that plenty of people on here realize that Holmstrom is not the player he was in the past, but he is still on the rost, can still contriubte at times, and will still play.
-
Just to reiterate again, I suck. *shrugs* And hopefully Lebda gets it together after 2 subpar games. Struggled a good bit last year as well, but for the most part can't complain too much about is postseason play. Nothing amazing, but far from terrible there either overall. I hope for a Lilja-Ericcson combo if Lilja can get back soon but Lebda's shown potential, just terribly incosistent.

Just because not just Holmstrom alone, but other Wings players as well, don't necessarily drop the gloves all the time or want to smack people around after a dead whistle or a scrum doesn't make you a sissy. There is more to hockey about proving how manly you are or measure how big your you know what is like a big bully fight in high school.
