Because you can't answer the question and you purposefully dodge anybody's refutes towards your way that will make your arguments and biasedness go down the toilet. Did I say anything about a free pass? If there are other options that would better the first line and Holmstrom isn't the guy, I'm all for the ideas. I just get a kick out of when people just have such a disliking of whichever people there are, it doesn't matter who it is. It just always makes me curious as to how somebody can dislike a certain person so much beyond obsession. And Jake Ryan's posts are easy and fun to pick apart.

There are 80 games until the Stanley Cup playoffs start. I don't think anybody has worked the REd Wings out of the Stanley Cup playoffs yet. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot but again your ridiculous biasedness against the guy is showing a bit beyond the deep end. We lost a lot less than 28 other teams in the NHL last year. Only 1 team beat us more. We lost the first 2 games. We have 80+ more chances to win games. Plenty of people are going to lose 2 games in a row this year. Perspective. Him scoring a goal in one of those 2 games is a problem when his linemates didn't score any? There are plenty of other problems these first two games of the Red Wings that do not include Tomas Holmstrom's age/prescence. That involves such things like goaltending and penalty killing for instances. Tomas Holmstrom is not a goalie, nor does he rarely kill penalties out there at any point of his career. Your biasedness against him is way up on the ridiculous-o-meter.

Two games, three weeks ago, five years ago, it probably wouldn't have mattered when you made this thread - you were still going to get a bigtime negative response from people - because you are talking about a team has been the most successful hockey franchise the past 15+ seasons in terms of consistency, and much more has to be shown in a bad way by the Wings for your assumption to even remotely become close to a possible reality.

It's pretty naive to think that the original poster wasn't going to get roasted. It's just 2 games into the season, teams lose 2 games in a row all the time, and we're talking about a team that has made postseason play for over 15 consecutive seasons. This thread screamed everything about being a doom and gloom panic attack thread.

Anything's possible obviously, and it's an intersting factoid, but nothing to really get too giddy about IMO if it happens. People lose 2 games in a row all the time and it's an 80+ game season. It's only a week into the season, there's still boatloads of time for teams to make Cup runs and win divisions or the best record in hockey...

But it is just 2 games. If the season were just 2 games long, then your thread might have more legitmacy. But it's an 80+ game season. Plenty of teams are going to go on a 2 game losing streak this year. Also, we're talking about a team that two years ago won a Stanley Cup and came 1 game short of another. It's unrealistic to think that they will just completely miss the playoffs all together the next season. Is it possible? Yes, anything is possible, but I can only recall two instances were Cup winning champs missed the playoffs alltogether next season - Carolina recently and New Jersey (in the late 90s? I know it was one year). And to not expect backlash from a thread like this, given that it just has been 2 games and this team has been good for so long, is pretty naive. You may not have intended for it to be a doom and gloom thread, but that's how it's going to come across to plenty of people.

You got to call a spade a spade at some point. If it were just a 2 game season, then yes. But it is an 80+ game season. Plenty of time for goaltending to rebound. And yep I understand the thread was made in joking jesture.
