Bertuzzi is far from my favorite player, but a good low risk/potentially high reward signing. Bertuzzi isn't like he was in his Vancouver days obviously, but he still has big size and good hands. Hopefully he can wratchet up the physical game a little more this time around here.

We lost 88 goals and get back 76 goals - Good Job Kenny!

I thought this was an offseason of gloom? -
You saw in the playoffs, at times he was playing with Helm or 3rd line more often because he's obviously not the best/fastest skater out there and you saw a line combo of Datsyuk-Hossa-Cleary a lot later in the playoffs. Part of that is b/c Homer is Homer as expalined last sentence, part of if probably due to lack of production in the playoffs. I think he still has a role on this team and good chemistry with Datsyuk and Zetterberg if they get put back together, but I won't be shocked if he plays lower lines anymore. On the PP, we all know how that goes and he's still one of the best in front of the net.

*Hides* Anyways I haven't read any of the pages in the thread so I apologize if I rehash points. Was Bertuzzi wrong for what he did? Without question. Should we forget about this incident? Absolutely not. However, we can make peace with it and move on, at least getting past "ZOMG BERTUZZI IS A SLIMEBALL FOR DOING THIS!" It'd be one thing if he was easy to dislike, like Sean Avery or guys like Terrell Owens or Chad Ocho Cinco (name change ) in the NFL who basically are drama queens and are always "HEY LOOK AT ME PEOPLE!", but he seems like he knows he f'ed up bigtime, is remorseful, and is/has moved on from it and is at least in a better state of mind.

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi
SouthernWingsFan replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
Haven't read any of the pages/responses so I apologize for re-stating anybody's previous points. I wouldn't mind Bertuzzi back. He isn't what he was during the Vancouver days but he can still produce here and there. Just hope he's a bit more physical than the last time he was here during his brief stint. Who knows, the 2nd time could turn out better, you never know. As for the whole Bertuzzi-Moore drama, nobody should forget it. And nobody should excuse Bertuzzi for what he did. I certainly don't. Pretty much everywhere I watched or read though he seemed pretty remorseful and regretful for what happened. I understand if there is still an uneasiness about him regarding this specificually from people, but for me it's all about moving on (while not forgetting) and making my peace with it. At least in terms of being suspended, he's served his time, he's getting his 2nd chance in terms of playing. EDIT: Just saw Jedi's message after I posted. Move my blurb to that thread as necessary if y'all see fit obviously. -
Can't blame him for wanting more PT, just natural of any player who wants to make his mark. Could he have gotten more minutes with the Wings? Without question, but it's not like he was just playing 3 minutes a game. He certainly had his chances and time out there, and produced well at times. Regarding this specific instance though, it would've been best for Hudler to keep mum IMO. Regardless, best of luck to him in Russia, I hope he does well.

It's Indiana Jones with a mullet!!!!!!
-
Why not? He's obviously not the player of young anymore and he wasn't all too great in the playoffs IMO but the man is still a freak of nature when working out, it's not like his conditioning has left him IMO. Would be a good reserve guy/emergency 6th d-man for a club still.

Beautiful.

Just because I don't live in Michigan or live in a southern state doesn't mean I don't understand. I've been to games in Detroit and Joe Louis Arena. I just don't get all up in arms if people question if Detroit is "Hockeytown" anymore because (1) it is still a great hockey city regardless of what people say and (2) "Hockeytown" is also a name and a slogan along with a state of mind/feeling in the region. And, regardless of what people say, that feeling is still there. No need to get on a high horse.

I dunno. The person below me has stuck their head in a trash can before.

Ken Holland about next years roster and williams
SouthernWingsFan replied to crazy13's topic in General
Yes indeed. Plenty don't like Williams, and that's unlikely to change. Fine. But if people can get past "DAMN IT S.O.B. WE SIGNED WILLIAMS BLAAARGH!!!!!!" hopefully it'll be realized that this signing wasn't all that bad. Wings have lost a good bit of scoring, Williams can light the lamp from time to time, hopefully fill some of the scoring gap. And he signed him IMO for a reasonable amount. Is it the ideal signing? Of course not. But it's not as bad as made out to be in here by plenty. Saying that we won't win the division is a bit of a stretch IMO but whatever, right now that's going to be one of those agree to disagree kinda deals until the Wings themselves show us otherwise. I fail to see that much of a dropoff and the Wings should have little trouble making the playoffs once again. After that, we shall see... -
Hockeytown is a slogan, nothing more/less. That's neither good/bad, it just is what it is and there's no need to take it out of context IMO for a lack of fanbase, not-so-rowdy fanbase, location, whatever... Detroit is a solid hockey city/area, so are plenty of other places.

Mechanical, but I don't wear watches. A stupid quiet person or a loud obnoxious smart person?

All I eat is sour cream chips every now and then so I got no idea on earth. The person below me thinks that it's the music that makes us do it.

The season still hasn't started yet though, so...

Maybe there are some things more important than entertainment. Jason Williams isn't an enforcer. Yeah, darn blasted I hate winning more than losing. You certainly don't have to watch if it's going to be such a joke. Economic conditions also factor into this. You want some cheese with that wine? You want some tissue as well? :violin:

How do you know? The season hasn't even started yet.
