Holmstrom speculates that this is his last season
SouthernWingsFan replied to servo's topic in General
It wouldn't shock me given his playing style and how banged up he's been the past 2 seasons. He's always been one of my favorite players because he always busts his rear end off and isn't one of the more talented guys in terms of skating/pretty stuff, etc. but he's almost always been able to produce still, overall in his career. Holmstrom's time is definitely up soon IMO, but I hope it's not in this upcoming season. -

Holland should wait until the trade deadline
SouthernWingsFan replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
Wait until the trade deadline? That won't make a lot of people in here happy. -
Plenty of people fall in this category that blow a game every now and then, not just these two...

If Howard has failed, he wouldn't be playing anywhere in the minors or NHL right now.

Who will man the right point on the second PP unit

Jason Williams -
It's possible.....

I'd like the Red Wings to re-sign Williams just to piss people off in here.

You don't like me calling attitudes out that are wrong, that's your problem, not mine. That line of thinking isn't right.

I sure as hell didn't laugh. And yes I have a sense of humor.

This team made the playoffs without any problems despite subpar defense and goaltending before the regular season ended... This team has made the playoffs 15+ straight years... I don't see this team just completely nosediving because of losing some goal production. They will be fine in all likelihood and make the playoffs, again, without much difficulty... Worry about this then...

Sorry, but cheering the injury/getting hurt of Hudler, or any other player who just isn't downright hated by every fan/player in the league, is pretty chicken s**t and gutless. Shame on some of you.

Somebody explain to me what makes Travis Moen so special over countless other players available. Not trying to dog Moen, but I just don't get why he's so head and shoulder's above everybody else as he's been mentioned in here about 50 times lately.

You wouldn't want to maximize your career and worth financially? It doesn't always have to be done in the NHL or with the REd Wings. Hudler made the best choice he thought possible for him and his career and his financial future over the next few years. There's nothing wrong with that. Why did you never like Hudler? And nobody is saying or implying that everybody that plays for the REd Wings is a god.

Like last year with all the defensive problems, the Wings still had no trouble making the playoffs. I don't see why next season would be any different. Then I'll start showing some more concern if there are things to be concerned about. Wings are fine rigght now.

And also, people are nuts for thinking Holland is doing a bad job because of this. We all knew the deal at the end of the season. Little cap space and it was already goin to be difficult for Hossa to return. Hossa himself claimed he saw the writing on the wall some when the Wings offered Franzen the long contract first. I don't see how Samuelsson leaving has much to do with this. Again this whole sitaution with Hudler wasn't handled great but he's going to where he think he can benefit his career most right now. More power to him. I highly doubt this whole ordeal would have had much or any effect on possibly retaining Hossa. I'm not going to try to connect the dots regarding these sitautions.

I think you are being a bit overdramatic here. Plenty of people are being overdramatic in this thread. Do I like Hudler leaving? Nah, not really. If anybody labels me a Huddler slappy I'll jump through my computer and strangle you. Did he completely produce in the playoffs? No, but so did plenty of others as well. People go on hot or cold spells all the time whether it is in the regular season or playoffs. He was a more than servicable forward like plenty of other people on the team. Not everybody's going to score 4 points a night. So nobody better accuse me of overstating his worth. The way this all went down wasn't handled all that great overall I think, but it's nobody's fault, it is what it is. I don't think any less of Hudler because of this. It's a tough decision to make that takes time. Sometimes you have to move on somewhere else in life if you think you want to maximize your worth/career. Best of luck to Hudler in the KHL.

Flipper was fine during the postseason.

There are very few people that I just don't like, but he's one of them. A helluva player indeed and especially clutch in playoff time, no doubt about it, he was still one of the most dirty and cheapshot guys in the game during his time I think. He had one helluva career and a successful one by plenty standards, but I'm not going to miss him much.
