He's going to be doing a lot of press conferences. If he did something like storm out of the conference early or shout at reports in frustration, I can understand disdain, but there was nothing even remotely close to controversial or wrong in the conference, or annoying. Don't see what the big deal is.

This isn't entirely it, but I think it is just harder to identify with somebody not from the U.S./Canada due to lack of knowledge about European countries, languge barrier, whatever. It might not be fair, but I think there is some truth to that. That's why you don't hear about guys like Zetterberg and Datsyuk more often. Ovechkin has broken that barrier to a large degree, but as a helluva player he is, he usually plays 2nd fiddle to Crosby in terms of pub. I think not being from North America has something to do with that.

Nope, jiust 1 brother. The person below me still laughs at cartoons.

I get that he's deemed the "second coming". I never said to not lay off of him. Despite him being the "second coming", that just doesn't bother me. He's the second coming, great, more power to him, I'm done with that and moving on to the next thing. This happens in all sports with media hyping your superstars. NBA does it with Bryant and James, PGA with Tiger Woods, etc.

Um, they are two of the best hockey players in the world right now. When you are two of the best hockey players in the world, you are worth the hype.

Lovely stuff.

This thread has nothing to do with Datsyuk. You are sad.

NBC could've easily broadcasted Penguins games in their conference finals against Carolina. 0 of them were broadcasted. And NBC broadcasted two Wings games in the conference finals over the Penguins 0.

I fail to see what's wrong with his postgame comments. Some of you spend way too much time worrying about this guy.

When human error gets involved, there's always going to be inconsistent officiating, no matter how good or bad they might be, no matter how tight they might call the game or if they let the guys play. Sans the Malkin trip on Kronwall, I honestly do not see how you can be pissy with the officiating. It was as even as you can get for both teams, and they let the guys play.

Sweet backdrop.

Crosby smells. Sorry, that's all I got.

Nah, not superstititous really. No playoff beard, nothing. I get that people are, it can definitely be fun, I know fans have fun with that stuff and I'm defiintely not getting in their way. Just not my thing.

Good news! Maggie the Monkey picks Pittsburgh

Well there ya go! Not much point in watching the series now. -
NBC didn't have any schedule games for the Penguins last round and broadcasted 2 of the Wings games. Just sayin... He's mentioned more in here than in broadcasts, I'll tell ya that much.

Um, it's ginormous. It's so ginomrous I'm making up words!

I had to deal with the same thing for game 5 last year, and the same thing for tihs game in the New Orleans area for the exact same cause/pledges. Very frustrating but it is what it is unfortunately. I watched game 5 last year in Baton Rouge about an hour away. Either going to do that again or drive to Biloxi/Southern Mississippi or just watch it online if available.

Does anybody know if there has been online streaming games in the past for SCF games or if they'll be any for this weekend? Broadcasting on my local NBC affiliate down here is blacking out game 1 (and hopefully not game 2) for a local telethon down here. This is the 3rd year in a row this has happened over a SCF game, but needless to say I'm obviously very pissed off about it still, as much as I'm for raising money for causes. I'd rather not have to drive out of the area to watch the game if I don't have to.
-
You are blind. I guess his assis to set up a game winning, sudden death overtime, conference series clinching goal even strength where he was parked in front of the net must've killed you inside. Nobody has a HHO. You have an anti-Holmstrom Hard-On.
-
This is unbelievable. For a 3rd straight year, a local telethon is blacking out a Stanley Cup Finals game down here, maybe two this year. I'm all for raising money for a good cause, but not during a championship sporting event, regardless of if it is my favorite team or not. I have to drive to southern Mississippi or Baton Rouge to watch game 1 and possibly 2 now. I'm so f**king pissed.

Bad/missed calls work both ways for both teams in any sport. There's no conspiracy to get any team, nobody is out to screw the Wings. Bad calls are going to happen when human error gets involved. Different refs have different styles in any sport where some like to call everything, some like to let the guys play a little bit. Lord knows I made plenty of bad calls when I officiated intramural basketball and soccer leagues in college.

Um, no.

I wasn't talking about him running anybody in the league over. I'm not talking about him running over any NHLers right now. I was suggesting to run you over because you are acting retarded about the sitaution going off the deep end with the disliking. Again, pretty much everybody here realizes his current cons, along with his good traits. Nobody would have a beef with you if you didn't act like an obnoxious drama queen with this all-or-nothing approach that he completely sucks rear end when in actually there is maybe just a thing or two he isn't the best at. This is not that hard to understand. Work on your tone and lingo and you wouldn't have people all over your case perhaps as suggested above at the top of this page from another poster. You can pretty much say the same thing about the other 4 players on the ice. You still haven't answered the related question of naming one player who has never, ever been out of position defensively at some point in their career. To criticize somebody for making just "minor" adjumstments when he has an 11-4 playoff record and is on the verge of leading his team to the Cup Finals is a wee bit ridiculous. Babcock has made adjustments as necessary and has done what he's needed to do to put this team in the best spot to win, regardless of your disturbing distaste of Tomas Holmstrom. And that includes Holmstrom on this team. Nobody thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread, nor has implied that he is indispensible, don't be such a drama queen. You are doing the exact opposite of the extreme and it makes you sound ridiculous. Please still tell us this - What did Holmstrom do to you in the past life to deserve all this hatred?
