You all have absolutely no idea how much I wish for an enforcer-free thread/debate on here permanently. If that ever happens, I'm going on a cruise in celebration. Threads about the subject or threads being hijacked into the subject easily surpass goalie threads as the most annoying/broken recorded on here now. How many threads can be spun into the topic without people saying the same stuff over and over again when nobody's opinion is going to change? Seriously? How many ways can you beat a dead horse? Yeah yeah yeah I know what's coming, you are complaining, you don't have to post in the thread, blah blah blah...

If the focus is on a new/modern arena, then definitely a new arena is needed. I've been fortuante to go to JLA before, and like it's simplicity. I went to a few games in Reunion Arena where the Dallas Stars used to play when I lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a few years. Similar arenas to where it is a basic bowl shape with 2-levels and 1 concourse. Only one level for bathrooms and food is obviously an inconveinece but both these arenas could get loud and entertaining quick due to the arenas being compact. I'm not hard to please. Just give me a playing surface to watch a game on, A/C that works, and a place to go to the bathroom in, and I am happy. Doesn't matter how modern or old the building might be.

In the grand scheme of things I have little doubt about that. But so are plenty of people as well. I don't get too riled up or excited if I see or read about Don Cherry because his demeanor and appearance from minute 1 screams for loud responses or reaction. I dunno why though, it's just getting old and a little tiring to me.

You can insert pretty much any sports team in that statement and fans of that favorite team will be thinking the same thing. There is nobody that has it out against the Red Wings on purpose.

Not to excuse what Brodeur did, but some of the posts in here are implying like he is the only person on this planet that is capable of such a mistake and a mistake like this, and he is Satan's son (bad pun day given he plays for the Devils). Sadly, plenty of people have questionable morals, not just Brodeur, and scenarios like these while not a standard I think, are unfortantely not a brand new invention.

Washington is currently leading their division right now... And teams that finish in the lower parts of standings typically get higher draft picks and will probably ****** higher profile players. This happens in MLB and the NBA as well. As for Ovechkin goal celebrating, doesn't bug me one bit. As long as he doesn't rub it in the faces of other players, celebrate as you want. Never hurts to show emotion in a positive way.

I've never really taken Don Cherry too seriously given the way he screams for attention to start with his apparel and gaudy outfits (which I certainly don't mind and think is entertaining) and his demeanor/opinions, I don't watch him much, but to me he seems like he is wearing his welcome from what I've been reading on here, like his calling people out schtick is getting old. Am I anywhere in the ballpark on this one?

Meh, the division was/is competitive this year and the Wings have been doing fine. I don't anticpate much of a dropoff for the Wings next season, if one might exist.

I went to my first ever playoff game last season, 2nd round game 2 vs. Colorado when Franzen netted a hat trick and the Wings won 5-1. Quite the fun day. I'd like to try to go to another early round playoff game but not knowing exactly when games are yet is hard living a long ways away, and I'm not burning $100+ on tickets with some recent expenses I've had to incur outside of the usual monthly house note/standard bills. One of my uncles down here does business with a client in the Lansing area I believe and he has offered me tickets, probably free of charge, to a game over the next few weekends. As much as I'd rfer going to playoffs over regular season, I might take the definite guaranteed game esp. whne I don't have to spend as much. We shall see.

When there are multiple threads weekly ripping on a single player, it's often he gets ripped on illogically and people go off the deep end with him. Both had torn ACLs in their career. Both have had slow recoveries trying to get back in their old form from them. It's not an insult.

He's shown more production/results than last year, even with his injury which is a plus. I know being on a 3rd/4th line isn't all about goals and putting up numbers, but whenever your 3rd/4th line can score every now and then, it is an added bonus. Yes, the Wings offense is pretty sickening, but I don't care how good your offense is, you are going to have nights every now and then when it'll go dry. People seem to forget how much time it takes to come back from torn ACLs. Jiri Fischer struggled for a good while, pretty much all of the following season after the tear, after he blew his knee out before his career unfortunately was cut short by the other circumstance. Derian Hatcher blew his knee out here a few games in and wasn't the same when he came back. They take time to come back from. I'm no professional athlete and they'll recover faster obviously but I speak through some experience of blowing my ACL and MCL out playing pick-up basketball and having surgery on it about 5 years ago. It took a pretty long time for my knee to have any decent strength again after rehab, and I still limp or move slowly after a jog or a workout. Could he be a bit more physical? Sure, but that comes with time coming off a major knee injury. Again, Fischer struggled after his knee injury and didn't seem to play as physical the following season. Fans feel the need to have a whipping boy to illogically hate at times where they go from normal criticism to just going off the deep end ridiculously. For Wings fans if it's not the goalies, last year it was Samuelsson. This year it has usually been Kopecky.
