Sometimes you miss, sometimes you are right on. It's not like they were dillying around on that extended PP time. Part of it also was Kipprusoff playing out of his mind as well. Goalie usually needs to be your best PKer, and he was plenty that night for Calgary.

If the Wings are losing on purpose consistently, then I'm dating Anne Hathaway. Since I am not dating Anne Hathaway and will never date her, the Wings are not losing on purpose.

Nope, have no time to read that and even if I did I'd have zero clue what it means. The person below me has run into something recently.

I think hfboards hates wings because of the euro players
SouthernWingsFan replied to Phazon's topic in General
If they want to hate the Wings because of more European players, that's their business. I'll take a consistently winning team everytime and if that means they are hated by others, not my problem. -
Meh, this stuff happens from time to time unfortuantely. Happened in 2001 against the Kings in the playoffs one game. Happened against Edmonton in 2006 the final game of the playoffs for the Wings. Happened last year in game 3 against Nashville where they blew leads. It's happened a bit too much this season for my liking, yes, but there's still time to fix this. Still about a month away from the playoffs, etc. Playoffs are typically lower scoring as well so...

If there are hockey gods as the original poster suggests, I'd give the hockey devils a nudge.

Wish I could make reading a consistent hobby of mine. The person below me gets papercuts from reading.

Markov perhaps may be better this year, haven't watched enough of the Canadiens or him to determine accurately, but I'll take Lidstrom over him still pretty much every time.

What does it say about the wings when they played like crap all season
SouthernWingsFan replied to Phazon's topic in General
It means that they are an a**-kicking bunch of guys. -
Understood. And even though it sounds like it from my post, I don't take this stuff so seriously that I just piss and moan for 3 days straight if my team loses. It is indeed just a game. Me personally while I like cool intermission/halftime stuff or hard hits for example like everybody else, I came to watch the game on the playing surface/ice. Being entertained by other things isn't as important to me. So all that's left then for me is making sure nobody acts disrespectful towards me during a game to where it bugs me, and my team winning. So... *shrugs*

If boring means consistently winning like the Wings do, I'll take boring every time.

If that makes you sleep easier at night, ok. On the bolded part, I'm not even going to waste my time because (1) I'm not familiar with enough and (2) it's not going to even change your mind anyways, so why bother. Shoring up defense and goaltending is more important to me than going in and punching somebody's face in. This isn't a contest to see who is the manliest. If you are fight-starved, that's fine. We all like a good scrap, but realized they have their place in the game and that's it, nothing more or less than that. We might want to put more focus on things I said above as we think they are more important than what you do. Don't go around twisting thoughts adn ideas though of others that aren't fight-starved as much compared to other things. Perhaps, but you are on a soapbox right now and have been on one before and get too worked up about this stuff way more than necessary. So if you play the soapbox card on me, you certainly have to apply it to yourself at times. I like Downey a lot, he's far from dead weight. I like fighting/enforcing, but he has his place on the Red Wings organization, and fighting/enforcing have their places and I'd personally want to focus on other things before that right now. If you think that makes me want soft hockey or think I'm stupid, well that's not my problem. Loosen your gears up some.

Or how about not intentionally wishing injury on anybody. Kinda gutless...

Have come close! The person below me has given themself a hug before.

Too early to tell. Things like this eventually sort themselves out, but later rather than sooner. Hasek and Osgood split last year and a goalie wasn't decided for the playoffs until late regular season/playoffs. If it was right now, I'd go with Conklin because he's been the steadier of the two but again there is still time to sort these things out. If it is Osgood, so be it. I trust him, he's done his part more than once to help the Wings to two Stanley Cups (please for the love of god nothing like the offense carried him or long goals of 1998 - I get it and get what the naysayers might come back at me with). I got no choice but to trust both of the goalies, they've been the men all season, the Wings weren't going to come close to trading for a goalie, they are going to be the guys going in the playoffs. Here's to :goalie1: Osgood + :goalie2: Conklin doing their part to help the Wings to another championship this year! :beerbuddy:

I'd like for Wings to get the #1 seed obviously for home-ice advantage, but I don't want them killing themselves or getting too many injuries doing it if possible. They are going to make the playoffs regardless of if it is #1/#2. Won't fret all that much if they don't finish first overall in conference.

IMO, 5 Things the Wings need to work on for next game
SouthernWingsFan replied to spyder's topic in General
1. Defense 2. Defense 3. Defense 4. Defense 5. Defense That being said, even though it is disturbing to see so many goals given up in a game twice in a week, I still consider games like this few and far between in an 80+ game season. Sure, they happen, pretty much to every team where they are just terrible defensively, but they are limited to just a small handful for many teams I think. It's concerning of course but nothing to get too vented about as this team is still making the playoffs despite these bad games and there's still time to sort this stuff out for playoffs and playoff games are typically lower scoring anyways by default. -
^ This. I like Downey and wished somehow he could stay up given the current roster/salary cap/situation but it isn't possible. It is slim/none that he would be claimed off waivers, and a much better chance that somebody like Meech or Kopecky will, no matter how much people in here might piss and moan about them. The organization isn't willing to take that chance, so be it. It is so fricken annoying to see posts where plenty of people understand the use of an enforcer or physical play or fighting or whatever, but realize it has it's place and might value things a bit more than enforcing, and get falsely labeled as this anti-bulls**t or that these people want the team to be soft or whatever else, like it is an all or nothing proposition. I do not understand why every single time it has to go to these all or nothing extremes. It is incredibly stupid and some of the enforcer slappies need to get off their soapboxes regarding this. And spare me response like "Well heaven forbid we question Ken Holland" or "You must hate physical play". Save it

I pity you.

Not really, I've never paid attention to my horiscope. Maybe I should try. The person below me thinks that Terry Tate kicks a**, or does after watching this video.

I like Downey a whole lot. Will never net you 30 goals in a season, but brings tremendous energy and attitude and hustle to the ice just about every time. Great for your 4th line. As for the the millionth version of the enforcer/fighting talk, you all have fun yelling at each other.

:beerbuddy: to Osgood whenever he gets the 300 wins. It is a helluva accomplishment regardless of how it is done. Osgood haters can stick it where the sun don't shine in this thread.
