These. I disagree with Cherry on this and don't give a kahoots about Ovechkin's goal celebrations one way or another, but Cherry is always going to be loud/outspoken for better/worse. Loud/outspoken people typically are funny, and if they wear gaudy suits, they are probably even funnier.

I can bet at least half of these posts are of the drama queen variety of the mind-numbing enforcer debate that unfortuatnely will never go away. Wish Helm/Leino could stay up, but not getting up in arms about it due to cap situation, etc. On Ericsson and Downey coming up...

All fans have these problems in terms of fans getting up/moving around, not seeing the entire 60 minutes due to making friends with Mother Nature or getting drinks/food, ushers holding them up expectedly due to current play, etc. As long as fans, regardless of the team or event, aren't acting like beligerent a'holes ruining the watching experience of others around them or being just totally clueless (i.e. standing up all the time getting in the way while everybody else is sitting), we're in no place to tell them how to act. Let it be and leave it at that. Also, the waving that "I'm on TV" dealie is kinda silly, but whatever.

All the "Original 6" teams didn't come into play during the same year. Nothing to get too worked up or technical about. What's also hypocritical about it is that you probably have people in here who on some level are proud to be Detroit or Michigan natives and get up in arms with the false perception that crime is everywhere there or gangbangers or whatever. Yet it's all right to stereotype everybody down as hicks and rednecks? Kinda convenient I guess when you (not you specifically Frozen-Man) aren't the one getting dumped on. I thought I read you were going to this game but didn't? I must've misread. If that's the case we should've made plans to chit chat briefly.

Would not mind seeing Guerin or a guy like him here (yes I watched his underperforming playoff for the Sharks) on a 2nd-line type role but with the depth this team has and cap restrictions, I'm not holding my breath nor will be disappointed if little/no activity occurs.

The worst I saw Saturday evening was somebody holding a Chelios is a Sissy sign and somebody wearing a Red Wings Suck t-shirt (which they did that night ) who I had brief conversations with. Stuff like that is just so not worth getting angry or heartburn over. It's all in good fun and that's rated-G material. Stuff like that is funny to me. As long as people aren't just over the top verbally abusing me or throwing stuff at me or trying to start s**t, we're gonna have a good time. From what I saw, Nashville is a nice city and the Sommet Center is a solid arena and the Predator fans I came across were cool and friendly and stuff. Are you making fun of me?

In an 80+ game season, you're going to have a few retarded clunkers. It happens for pretty much every team. The Wings gave up 9 goals to the Sharks to seasons ago in a regular season game. Didn't seem to affect much as the Wings got all the way to the WCF. The Wings threw up a clunker game in the playoffs in 2002 against St. Louis but won that series in 5 games still and won it all. The Wings are still in the playoffs without difficulty despite this brainpoop of a game. While if they certainly played like they did Saturday they won't go far in the playoffs, usually games like these are few and far between, so nothing to get too antsy about in all likelihood.

I haven't read much on this and I've always taken little of what Don Cherry takes seriously for better/worse. I think he's funny personally but it seems like this he goes a bit overboard with the criticism, not sure if it is for attention or just to put on a show or whatever, but I disagree with him on this.

1. Basically answered your own question. People get there late, etc. Nothing really to overanalyze. 2. People have to use the bathroom or are getting something to eat. Basically a copy-paste job from another thread similar... I went to the game. Despite the crappy outcome obviously, I had a blast going to Nashville and being in downtown. The generalizations in here with Predator fans as hicks or rednecks can't be further from the truth, and it's a joke. It is defiintely a more country atmosphere than normal but the amount of people I saw in cowboy style were fairly small. In terms of them thinking we are rivals, what do you expect? They haven't been in the league that long, Detroit plays in the same division, we've played them a few playoff series, they're trying to find some identity. Nothing wrong with this. As for the whole YOU SUCK chants, I'm sorry, but complain about something more important. They can say plenty of things worse. It's just something they do to get jacked up and the like. They aren't acting like a'holes towards players or fans of other teams, they aren't purposefully harming people, let them do there thing. There's nothing wrong with getting involved and making noise and the like. Now, before people say that I am claiming Nashville as a hockey mecca, I'm not. I'm saying, no more or less, that the experience in Nashville and at the game were fun, the fans I came in contact with were cool and gracious, and a lot of the stuff in here dumping on Nashville is overblown. I know Detroit is an Original-6 team with a lot of history and tradition, but the Red Wings are Holier than Thou attitude and dumping on the littler guys with less history is tiring and ridiculous in here.

Sometimes you miss stuff during play. S**t happens. I'm not going to hold these against the refs and it's pretty much a given that almost every game is not going to be called consistently. You are going to miss stuff sometimes. I'm 100% in agreement though that IF they miss stuff like this, it needs to be reviewable. And for these 2 specific instances if that happened, neither team should've had a goal.

Answer us this then... Why would the annoucers even say that the puck hit the mesh right before to goal in the first place if it didn't happen? Just fess up and admit you were incorrect and are being a bitter fan of a team that just lost a game. There's nothing wrong with that and nobody is going to hold that against you.

B.S. Watch the highlights. Around 1:40. You hear the Wings annoucers say it went off the netting, just like they said this last game as well when the goal favored the Wings. So you cannot play the homer annoucer card there. I don't have the greatest ears, but I hear absolutely no sound off the glass boards for that "net" goal. Must've been a "quiet" puck eh? Tell me what basis you have for claiming the puck took a funny bounce off the glass. I didn't hear a thing. Both goals for San Jose and Detroit in those instances shouldn't have counted, whenenever pucks hit the netting like that and goals result, the time/sequence should be reviewable and play should be reset.

Fans are going to be loud and rowdy. Don't see the harm in that, and they can yell a million things worse than YOU SUCK. As long as they aren't verbally going just completely off the deep end or trying to start fights with people, let them have their fun. And not everybody from the south is a redneck. Watch the generalizations.

Sorry man, you get no dice from me. Thornton glanced back, Cleary assumed Thornton was seeing him coming for some form of a hit. A 2-minute minor without question but Cleary could've done far worse to get a 5-minute major. As for the netting thing, remember last year when your team benefited of a "goal" off the netting against the Wings. Sometimes people miss stuff like that or calls. I don't like it sometimes but the refs aren't perfect. Stuff like the netting incidents or phantom interefernce calls needs to be reviewable.
