Was Cleary's hit on Thornton worthy of more than a 2-minute penalty? No. Regarding everything else, their team lost. When your team loses, you are going to get bitter fans. When you are bitter, your smarts typically decline temporarily. Shouldn't be surprising at all, plenty of people in here go bitter and stupid whenever the Wings lose a game. It happens all the time whenever your team loses. Throw the outcome in reverse and some of the calls, there's a good chance we're the ones ranting and whining.

He's far from a favorite of mine but if there was any chance of Pronger being on Detroit, I'd put my remorse for him aside as best I can, it's all about the team first, not individuals. Being that this is slim/none of happening though, it's nothing to worry about.

I'd like to think so in terms of making some friends. The person below me has cleaned out their belly button recently. *shrugs*

Datsyuk said he'll also reach 1000 points this year. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...g_scores_2.html

Is it time to make some major moves for this year's playoff run?
SouthernWingsFan replied to boomer's topic in General
Since 2000 (?) when the Wings made a few deals that year, one being to get Chelios at the trade deadline, have we really seen them make any huge trades since then at/around the trade deadline? Sure Bertuzzi was known because of the "name", but nobody knew what he was going to bring. Stuart trade ended up being huge, but that wasn't an overly dramatic trade in terms of name value last year, and was the only trade the Wings made. Given the salary cap of the team and a fairly successful roster right now, I'm not holding my breath for much to happen, nor would be disappointed if this roster pretty much stands pat. It is more than capable, but if something can be realistically done to acquire somebody like a depth defenseman who might play or 4th line help (although it is improving with this rotation system/competition), I'm all for it. I don't want a trade to happen though just for the sake of it happening and just because it might be "exciting". -
Leino just needs to not show up with the wrong colored helmet anymore.

Sitting in 114 row J if anyone is interested in running into each other.

Didn't have beer but a glass of wine this evening. The person below me has unsuccessfully tried to take over the world recently.

The team is going to be rotating the goalies roughly 50/50 right now. Too early to tell...

Nope, although I yell at myself a lot. The person below me thinks they sound good when making Chewbacca noises/Wookie language.

Does media exposure of Crosby bother me? No. I couldn't care less one way or another about Crosby or media attention towards him. I understand though why people or fans might be frustrated with this, which is why I've pretty much am trying to stand down on thinking people are ridiculous and overboard at times for the dislike of Crosby. Do I still think the fan reaction is retarded at times? Yes, but there's nothing I can do about that and if/until there's a different marketing approach, there's going to be Crosby hate, whether it is fair/unfair. Media likes to overdramatize things and make stories out of stuff when there's not much to be made out of. Happens all the time in sports or politics or whatever. Another example is the Michael Phelps marijuana story. Honestly, who really gives a damn that badly if he smoked marijuana? All right I'm sure some people do but I don't. Like the Crosby/Ovechkin recent event, if it were any other players involved or if it's just a random guy on the street smoking mari, nobody's going to talk about it.

Barring a handful of injuries or play of some lower-tiered guys going completely in the s**tter (sorry guys, Kopecky's play isn't going to tank that badly for this), it'll be hard for McCarty to get back in the lineup on a consistent basis. That being said, I'm still rooting for him and am really proud of how he's turned his life around in a good way and if he can crack the lineup (again), more power to him.

I will be going to the game as well, making roughly a 7-8 hour drive from the Greater New Orleans area where I live. I am looking forward to the game as well as visiting a new city for the first time ever as I like to travel.

23 in 33 isn't bad, but let's face it, the time to call it quits comes for everybody in any sport, and it is approaching for Fedorov soon. I have little doubt he'll still be an integral part of the Capitals before he retires, but he's no world-beater on the ice anymore on a consistent basis and his time to retire is coming up sooner rather than later. That all being said, I'm glad for Fedorov's time here and what he contributed to the Red Wings on the ice.

Getting sick of "Ovie's" goal celebration's
SouthernWingsFan replied to Wingaling's topic in General
So he shows a little bit of emotion and wants to get the crowd jacked up. Big whoop. It's not like he's rubbing celebrations down opposing players' throats. I'm generally a quiet/behind the scenes kinda person that doesn't show much emotion but if he wants to let loose like he normally does, more power to him, it's not hurting anybody. -
Wings need to hire Barry Melrose!!!!!
-
I like Bing Crosby!!!!! And in all seriousness, if it wasn't two of the more marketable games in the NHL right now in this action, this doesn't get overblown, as people yap back and forth and shove and love tap each other in pretty much every hockey game imaginabile.

I don't know who Horatio Caine is so I dunno. The person below me owns a flamethrower.

No team has consistently won the Stanley Cup since the Edmonton Oilers in the late 80s. I understand hockey a good bit. For example, You score goals in hockey. Penalties are commited when you hook a player with the end of your stick, trip them with their stick. There are high-sticking penalties when you clip people in their faces. A double minor happens with a high stick yields blood on a guy's face. You are offsides in hockey when the puck isn't the first object to pass the opposing team's blue-line.
