Feel bad for Legace. He's a prideful guy and I understand (I think) how he think his pride got hurt. I wish nothing but the best for him and hope he gets picked up by another team or gets his game back together.

You have a visor shield, take it off for the fight IMO. Not because of safety but because of unfair advantage. And if the whole helmet goes off, yeah there are issues with possibly getting concussions from falling/slipping, etc., but there's also risks of skates to the face, getting dented with a puck, getting injured many ways outside of fights/normal play, could go on and on. Where do you draw the line? I don't daydream of fights but it'd be a shame if it gets curbed down.

I've pretty much come to accept that officiating is going to be pretty much inconsistent in pretty much any game you can write up right now, regardless of if it is Detroit or any other team. I don't play the conspiracy theory game and getting into why the referees are purposefully against the Red Wings or *insert my favorite team name here* isn't really my cup of tea. While it wasn't hockey, being an official in sports leagues for myself for a couple of years made me respect how hard an officials job is, you pretty much are in a lose situation all the time in trying to please players/coaches/fans, you are going to get ripped on for pretty much any call/no-call you make by somebody. That has made me admire the job of a sports referee a little bit more with the abuse they normally take. With that said though, games are inconstently called. I don't mind a lot of penalties a game, but there are just so many inconsistenties about how referees overall judge penalties these days.

Agreed IMO. I'm certainly glad to have Hossa here, I hope the Wings can keep Hossa, but Franzen is the cheaper of the two and is no slouch in terms of being offensively productive even though Hossa wins this battle pretty much every time. And this team proved they can win the Cup without Hossa last year, they can certainly do it again in future years without him if he isn't here. Though I hope they will be able to keep both Franzen and Hossa, cause that would just be nifty cool.

While seeing Gretzky blow a gasket was obviously entertaining, if the team was reversed in this situation, plenty of people here would be wanting to give Babcock a bear hug for letting the referees have an earful on a call like that late in the 3rd period if it happened to Detroit.

Was initially against this idea for the Wings, but it is good for the league (not just because the Wings are in it, not trying to sound like a homer), league has international fans, game is worldwide, etc. Plus Wings and Sweden kinda mix well right now.
