No, I couldn't even play a piaon, my fingers were too fat and I just liked to bang really loud on the keys half the time. All right I'm exagerrating a bit. The person below me wishes coffee didn't make them pee all the time.

So many ways you can spin this, but here is this idiot's opinon. If it was a few years ago, Fedorov without question overall. Now the gap is reducing obviously and Datsyuk is developing a pretty darn good all-around game that Fedorov pretty much had in his prime. As quirky as Fedorov's personality might be/have been, rightly or wrongly, when he was on, he was one of the best in the league. Fedorov was creative no doubt, but Datsyuk knocks him off regarding that, but Datsyuk pretty much schools everybody in that regard.

^ This. Other teams would kill for the Wings depth right now on offense.

I have no clue what those are, but since I am easily entertained I always like puzzles. Except crosswords. I suck at crosswords and usually rip them apart after about 10 minutes since I am impatient and not smart. The person below me has spun around in a chair really fast 10 times or more and was able to get out without falling down.

Represented or not, looking forward to the SuperSkills
SouthernWingsFan replied to Inultus's topic in General
I've always stated that I have nothing against the All-Star games itself, in any league or sport, and I still believe that now. A lot of people say the entire thing is a joke now but I got no problems with the events themselves, just the way people were selected to the all-star team. Don't let fans stuff the ballot boxes and the system will be less corrupt. I personally would like to see the Super Skills competition but unfortunately will be missing out due to attending an engagment party. -

Nah, not really, we went over an entire year without NHL action and we turned out fine. One week is a lot less. The person below me thinks that the opposite gender still has cooties. *shrugs*

Everybody's. Goaltending is hard to be good when you give up 5 goals, but the defense was a clusterpoop for a good part of the game. There is no one single scaepgoat player though, I could give you a bunch of different reasons that could've helped the Wings win/helped them lose, whether it be Zetterberg missing an open net, Kronwall goofing up leading to a penalty and one of Phoenix's PP goal, Hossa's blunder at the blueline, and so on and so forth. Bad plays happen to everybody at some point in time. My point is you win as a team and lose as a team. I don't get into the blame game scapegoating much.

This team is making the playoffs. Talk to me in April or May if there are any goaltending issues then. Same with the defense as the defense was bad last night and the goalies shouldn't be ultimately blamed. Defense is also responsible. You lose as a team, not just one person. In an 82 game season, you are going to have clunkers of games every now and then when either your defense or goaltending is shaky every now and then. It is unavoidable. The Red Wings are good enough in an 82 game season to overcome clunker games every now and then and sometimes even win those clunker games, even though it didn't happen last night, and make the playoffs with little or no worry. This is likely the case again this year. I'm fine with our goaltenders and defense if they can play as consistent/full 60 minute game as possible. We've seen it happen this year a good bit of times. However, to expect it every night is unrealistic. Playoffs are where it matters most though.

Who knows. In all seriousness though, when he was healthy, more often than not he was almost always on, and lethal whoever he played against. Even last year during his limited stint. Who are we to say player A or player B should just retire? That's not up to us. And I know there have been responses to stuff like this or coming out of retirement in mid-season and how players shouldn't do that. To me, that is not up to the NHL to regulate. It is up to each employer/team to see if they think a player can help that team out and if it fits in the team's budget/salary cap, whether if that guy was healthy from day 1 or injured but finally healthy at game 60. If Forsberg can make a comeback, more power to him. Given how he just can't shake the injury bug though, I'm not holding my breath for it to happen.

Absoluetly agree. Hockey isn't going away anytime soon. Two different championship venues/settings which can be like comparing apples to oranges, but I agree with you that hockey pretty much has not as much competition with football down in the south, not as much as north from a viewership standpoint and the like. There are minor league franchises and the like here and there, heck there's one a little over an hour drive from where I live located in Southern Mississippi. So, hockey is out there in bits and pockets south of the Sunbelt, but not to the degree than up North/Northeast/West obviously, in terms of it being one of the more popular things out there. You're not going to find many people down here that view it as one of their favorite sports. That's not to say they hate the sport or think it is terrible, far from it. If I were Wings apparel when I work out or my jersey every now and then, very rarely have I gotten bad looks or snobby commentary that I'm an idiot or something for liking hockey. If anything, it is an icebreaker for a good/brief conversation about the sport, and people are curious to an extent. Yep. As a hockey fan I obviously wish the game was more popular as well, but it's not, probably won't be anytime soon, and it's not my job or duty to convert people down here to hockey. If they want to watch, great. I'm simply just going to enjoy watching a sport I really like watching. The NHL isn't going away anytime soon. Contraction of teams is a bad option IMO and IMO, to some degree, is an informally snobby way of saying that hockey doesn't belong South of Illinois 0% at all. I don't speak for all Southerners, but for me personally of course I like a good run of the mill fight like pretty much anybody else. I don't do cartflips over it though as a fight every now and then is to be expected, and MMA is well, the MMA and has fighting by defauly. I like fighting, but no more/less than a good slapshot/snapshot, clutch goaltending, great skating, etc.

Meh, just a harmless error on a local/non-national broadcast that only us Wings fans are going to get upset at. A slim number out of a bajillion of people. Nothing to get riled up at or lose sleep over.

How do you know this? Nobody in here knows this. Not you, not I, not anybody else on this forum. Unless we are in the locker room or on the ice with Chris Osgood, we have no clue if the team has lost any confidence in him or not. No, Osgood hasn't been up to snuff some this season, but in my opinion if they lost complete confidence in him they'd be playing Conklin more. A lot more.

I highly doubt that this move has anything to do with a response solely to the Red Wings or anything like that. Probably just the Sharks thinking that Lemieux can help the team out in whatever way(s). It has nothing to do with the Red Wings nor any other NHL team outside of the San Jose Sharks. And as much as Lemieux is disliked by Wings fans, I'll leave uncle ovi's post to do the rest of the talking, as it is a good one.
