The Wheel of Life - Lyn Collins

Yeppers. The person below me has sung the song "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" in great length to annoy the hell out of somebody before.

I barely eat fruit at all in my diet, so I'd probably say no. The person below me has recently jumped up and down on their bed like a little kid (and not gotten injured ).

In terms of yapping and talking and saying controversial stuff, yes. In other things, on the ice, not so much and that claim is a bit of a stretch.

So I will assune ushers haven't tarred or feathered you for bring a camera in. Seriously, I hope you have a good time at the game, and probably are considering they are winning 4-0 right now.

Utah should have serious consideration to be a split national champion. Yeah I know they play in a non-BCS conference and probably 9 times out of 10 the conference they are in doesn't even, at the very least, compete with the likes of Big 12, SEC, Big 10, etc. I will stress and repeat that I did not say better than these conferences, as that is slim/none that such a thing will ever happen, but be on somewhat of the same competitive level as those conferences. The Mountain West was damned good this year. Utah is undefeated. TCU will finish somewhere in the top 10. BYU has a chance to still remain in the top 25 even though they lost their bowl game. Also some of Utah's notable wins. Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, who was in the top 5. BYU which was in the top 15 at the time I believe. TCU, who was ranked 11th at the time of that Utah win and will probably finish in the top 10. Oregon State, the only team to beat USC. So it's not your typical non-BCS schools playing soft/weak non-BCS conference or non-conference opponents as compared to the BCS schools. Is even considering Utah for a split title too far of a stretch you think?

Kinda. The person below me wanders how The Count can survive in sunlight and why he never bites anybody or seems angry, because I always thought that vampires were pretty mean and bit other things and never were seen during the day, but then again I'm a pretty practical guy. *shrugs*

I trust both goalies, I'm fine with a rotation style like they did last year. This team is making the playoffs regardless unless the players regress in age for whatever reason so everything before March/April is just groundwork assuming the team doesn't snag. Just try to play your best goaltending by March/April to the playoffs.

Hard denying that with those records. And upsets in the playoffs aren't anything new. Hell, we've witnessed the Wings flame out early as a high seed a good bit until two seasons ago, and in 2005 or 2006 all the bottom seeds in the WC beat the top seeds in the first round. I'd still put my money almost every time on a 2 seed (Pitt at the time) beating an 8 seed (Nashville), especially when that 2 seed was probably that hottest team going into the SCF looking at things now that the dust has settled.

Red Wings' Pavel Datsyuk impresses teammates
SouthernWingsFan replied to titanium2's topic in General
Exactly, on both extremes. Give/take is needed on both sides. Were Datsyuk's bigger naysayers going off the deep end sometimes years ago? Without question. Bigtime Datsyuk supporters were as well. I have absolutely no problem with supporting your biggest fans. I recommend it and definitely prefer it over doom-and-gloom or constant criticism 400 times a day when we got the picture of criticism the first 5 times. However there have been plenty times in here as well when Datsyuk was talked about or slightly critiqued in some of the most harmless ways and nowhere even close to suggesting he is a bad player or wanting to trade him, and Datsyuk fans in here would just completely lose their grits over it, and that is almost as frustrating to read and deal with as loudmouth naysayers on here for me. Insert any other Red Wing player in this situation over the past few seasons on here (outside of possibly any goalie war threads) and favorite fans rarely ever lost their marbles over this to the frequency or amount of times that Datsyuk fans did. Again, give and take from both ends of the spectrum. Loudmouths can tone it down a bit, but the biggest supporters need to recognize that everybody can be critiqued or joked about and their favorite player isn't going to be specially protected with yellow rubber gloves. Doesn't matter if it is Datsyuk or Lidstrom or Kopecky or Greg Goldberg the Goalie from the Mighty Ducks movies. As for me personally, like most things I take a middle stance on this. Knew that Datsyuk underperformed a bit before a few seasons ago, but knew he still had the game to shed that label and wanted him to remain on the team even when he was getting the label as a playoff underperformer. Glad it worked out. So, I don't feel I need to man up or admit I was wrong or apologize for anything regarding this. And I'm a middle man now. Great that he's playing well, I'm happy for Datsyuk's biggest fans, will celebrate with them and treat them to a round of beers any day of the week, but no I personally would not call others out on this who were "naysayers" or "non-Datsyuk fans" and call them stupid or idiotic for not fully 100% "believing", assuming they aren't just completely still acting like jackasses when it's obvious that they guessed incorrectly. They've already eaten their crow and know they were wrong and it's a little childish to me to stir up s**t even further like this, when there is nothing to stir or start to begin with. If you want to call me lame or not fun, have at it, but that's usually my mojo. It's not about right vs. wrong or smart vs. stupid, or I told you so. Isn't to me. It's about Wings fans on both extremes all taking the high road and being happy he's one of the best players on the team and everything working out. -
Spin the bottle is an entirely different game. No snow globe for me. The person below me has given or been the recipient of a Gatorade/water bath at a sporting event before.

Red Wings' Pavel Datsyuk impresses teammates

If you want to act petty and constantly focus on people's faults or imperfections, have at it. That's not my cup of tea. -
Well, the thought was there for Semin, the effort was there as well, the technique, not so much. I kinda compare it to this. Ah well, we all have our goof ups every now and then.

I've never cut up onions before so I wouldn't know. The person below me has tried to show off spinning a wine or beer bottle before only to break the bottle.

Red Wings' Pavel Datsyuk impresses teammates

And many of them have probably already have eaten their crow internally or told themselves that they were wrong without any of the gigantic supporters yelling "HAHA" or "STUPID!" and are probably happy they were wrong. No need to rub their faces in dirt. Eventually you just gotta forget about it and move on, no need to stir stuff up in the boiling pot more than necessary. -
The fight or incident that Crosby was the primary initiator isn't the first time something like this has happened in the league. For better or worse, sometimes people get "jumped" like that sometimes. Because Crosby gets so much attention does that make it excusable? No, of course not. Stuff like this happens though from time to time. This isn't a Pronger skate stomp or Pronger mashing Holmstrom's head into boards with his arms/hands in the playoffs. Not even close. It's not even remotely close to Tootoo jumping Robidas like a coward in that specific incident. I don't see how this fight or incident is such a huge, big deal compared to other fights or scraps in the league when the fight itself isn't too far out of the oridnary from other fights. Does it stink that the other guy got jumped? Yeah, but this isn't any brand new discovery, and the other guy agreed to scrap in prinicple. If Crosby did a Pronger skate stomp, or a Chris Simon action, or a Holmstrom head smash into the boards, then the outrage toward him is probably more justified. Could Crosby have gone about it better? Perhaps, but what do you all expect him to do though, take off his glove and yell like the Sheriff to Robin Hood in an English accent, "I challenge you to a duel!" and smack him with the glove accordingly? Blow snot rockets out of his nose and say, "Ho-hum, life is fine!" while he gets mauled? I will emphasize again that just because Crosby did this doesn't make this any excusable than other similar incidents that happened like this. Regarding this Crosby does not get special treatement from me. Largely because it is Crosby though, it gets blown out of proportion, just as bad if not worsely overblown than when people might complain about the positive media spin he might get. And this happens just about every time when fans go off the wall with the Crosby dislike. The disliking by fans is far more exaggerated/worse than the pro attention he gets in my mind, as well as the quantity. Pick another captain or leader in this same fight or situation, probably not talked about as much or very little. And Crosby doesn't have to do anything to change his behavior because he is a media focus or anything like that or fans expect "better" of him because he is a marketing focus. He doesn't work for NHL Marketing. His job is to play and captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins. If NHL gurus want a different marketing focus with a different player/players outside of Crosby, that's up to them. Does this Crosby fight deserve some attention and talk? Sure, but not to the degree and vitol it is getting in my opinion, because this isn't the first time such a scrap has happened, nor will it be the last, whether it invovles Crosby or Greg Goldberg from the District-5 Ducks. As for Therrien, he's far from my favorite also but he's still an NHL coach for a reason and led this team to the Stanley Cup Finals. That's not too long ago. Nobody here in their right mind is going to realistically compare Yzerman or Gretzky to Crosby right now. I'm pretty sure they are smarter than that. Plenty of people here though sound like they expect Crosby to exhibit perfect behavior 100% all of the time. That's impossible to do. Everybody has their bad moments sometimes. Even Yzerman as well, and that is all haroldsnepts and micah are trying to say indirectly, and I think Yzerman is somebody we treat as close to as perfect in here in terms of a hockey player or athlete or person.

Considering that Pittsburgh only lost twice I believe until the SCF last playoffs, saying that Nashville would've beaten them is a bit of a stretch I think.

Red Wings' Pavel Datsyuk impresses teammates
SouthernWingsFan replied to titanium2's topic in General
The calls to trade Datsyuk years and years ago were fairly legit and valid as he generally underproduced when it counted most until a few seasons ago. He proved his worth 2 playoff seasons ago and is definitely a top winger without much question who now plays a great all around game - talent/skill, great defense/backchecking, and the ability to play physical when needed. It shouldn't be a manner of nanny nanny poo poo I told you so or rubbing people's faces in dirt that they are wrong who wanted him traded. I'm sure both the big supporters as well as the loud naysayers back then are equally happy how much he has developed into a helluva player. -
Good for him. This man gave the Red Wings all kinds of problems with the Hawks and Predators and I didn't even know he was still around, but this is great news to hear of such perserverence. Hope he's able to play for the long-term.

Not so much. The weather temperatures here have been so fricken inconsistent, it's now in the 70s and days later in might be in the 30s or 40s that I just want consistent winter weather for down here...40s/50s/60s. Not too hard of a request. It is too damned warmed for down here right now. The person below me has gotten into a fun paint fight before.
