When the Saints went to the playoffs a few years ago they had to play at the Bears. I didn't go to that game but a few family and friends did, and in addition to their stories as other stories I've heard from locals down here, I never heard so many stories of visiting fans being disrespected and treated so inhumanely and such, much worse than just your friendly ribbing or trash talk. I heard a fair amount of stories of Saints fans getting pelted with snowballs during the games and sometimes even being pelted with projectiles hidden inside snowballs. I remember seeing a Bears fan with a sign that said "We're going to finish what Katrina started". It really disappointed me seeing that. You have to know your limits as a fan. I know all Bear fans and fans of Chicago teams are definitely not like that, but the quantity of bad fan experience stories I heard from people down here that went to that game was pretty alarming. Glad to hear that the home crowd there was good. Lovely stuff on the pics there Jay, I definitely like.

Is there such a helmet where you can remove a visor? Never heard or seen of one if there is. Fighting need not be eliminated as it is part of the game. And, most importantly, RIP to Don Sanderson.

I rarely miss games of my favorite team, watch other games every now and then outside of my team with some interest, get really in-tune with the playoffs. I'd hardly consider that casual. So if I don't care one way or the other about Crosby ads et al, all of a sudden I am a "fake" fan? These real vs. fake fan comparisons are a bunch of bulls**t. You are a fan regardless and I am no more/less or better/worse a fan than you or anybody else.

If I had the time to, then yes, but I rarely watch old games I tape or whatever to begin with if I've watched them live to start. The person below me has imagined how they would look if a bobblehead was created with their body.

It's just a fan chant of a team against the Red Wings. Just something to have fun with if you aren't rooting for the Red Wings, nothing more or less and it shouldn't be taken out of context.

I liked them a good bit, they stood out but weren't hard on the eyes or overwhelming. Kinda wished they had the jersey numbers on the side but that's just me. In terms of the whole 3rd jersey bit, I never really have seen the harm in them as long as they aren't hard on the eyes like your standard jerseys. It's just a jersey. Indifferent on the concept of them more often than not so I'm not going to lose sleep if Detroit adapts a 3rd.

No! Of course I did. And a funny story regarding that. My parents called me and invited me to hang out for a while right before the game. Didn't really want to but I would've felt guilty if I didn't come over at all during the day after being invited so I decided to and sometimes I don't talk to them enough or share stuff going on with me enough. Anyways... We were watching bowl games before the hockey game. My dad commented on the TV guide that he saw that the Wings and Blackhawks were going to be playing on TV, but at Wrigley Field, and he thought it was a typo or something (I didn't tell them anything about this game leading up to it, etc.). My mom was like, what the hell are they doing playing outdoors and how can they play outdoors? They thought all the players and fans there were crazy. Also, I was wearing my Datsyuk Winter Classic mock jersey shirt that she got me for Christmas, and didn't realize that this was the actual shirt she got me until she noticed the Wrigley Field logo on the shirt. Funny stuff, they were actually pretty curious and interested in the game. Was good times watching the game with them. The person below me has poured more hot sauce than normal on their tongues and held it there for as long as they could before going bezerk needing water. *shrugs*

Well, the wind was a factor. How come when some broadcaster does suck up to the Red Wings 24-7 or even gives slight criticism that might go against the Red Wings, they are automatically terrible annoucers or have it out against the Red Wings.

Entertaining idea indeed, but all bashing aside of Southern cities aside conditions probably wouldn't be condusive to play a game in Nashville or Atlanta or Los Angeles if you want to keep the games outdoors. And, whether it is fair or not or no matter how much people not like hockey south of the Sun Belt, if you keep the All-Star game as it is, all franchise cities should have a chance to host an All-Star game (not even talking about the abuse of All-Star voting etc. here). I'm not against this concept or the concept of All-Star games at all, just take the multi-voting system away as fans have clearly abused this system. Maybe perhaps put the Winter Classic and the All-Star game on the same weekend perhaps, regardless of if they are different cities or not? EDIT: Just realized that last blurb probably wouldn't work out, would take away the All-Star break concept which the players would probably still want in there given the constant travel and the like during the season.

You basically gave the answer to your own question there. Harder to match up again, etc. Plus Holmstrom, as slow footed as he might be and won't win any hard shot competitions anytime soon, would provide less use on a 3rd or 4th line as opposed to the 1st/2nd line. He's almost always going to be paired with Datsyuk or Zetterberg IMO.

Probably because 99.9% of NHL fans outside of the Penguins have an obsession of disliking Crosby and/or the media fascination with him. I find waffleboarded hilarious actually. In terms of all the nooks and crannys of these guys, I don't pay attention to them enough to dislike them, I usually just watch the games. Only people that come close to annoying to me were the Nashville broadcasters but that was seasons ago and all local broadcasters are going to be homers no matter what the team is. And waffleboarded is more funny to me than annoying.

Bingo. A big reason why I don't take a lot of these broadcasts seriously, as there will be bias like this by default. Neither good or bad, just is what it is.

Probably true, but still given Osgood's recent groin injury/no playing time and Conklin playing better lately, why should Osgood get the start over Conklin? If you want to see Osgood play because you're a big fan, I perfectly understand. I'd like to see him play too but all logical and sensible signs say to start Conklin right now.
