St. Louis Blues - Herbie Hancock

You claim that it isn't a big deal, but you are certainly making it out to be one. And that still could be the start to perhaps watch a few more games. What is with the attitude hurled towards me when I have done nothing to deserve getting dumped on? You are so focused on everything that could go wrong with this event that you are just going to completely ruin watching the event for yourself from minute one. An outdoor professional hockey game, which rarely happens, at a great stadium. Seems like a great ordeal. It isn't complicated to me and I'm leaving it at that instead of finding hundreds of different reasons why it might go wrong when those things in the end probably will not be a big deal at all. How is it low class? Just because you don't like the sport? That's a pretty awful assumption. Some people who won't even give hockey a chance from the start will say the same thing about that sport. Unfair? Yes, but you are doing the same thing regarding baseball as well.

Fair enough. If this gets more people watching the sport, more power to that. I have enough things that give me annoyances in my life already. I'd rather not write a giant laundry list of things Bettman or the NHL does/doesn't too to make me even more annoyed. I'm just going to enjoy the game. So if I don't care one way or the other about the song being played and just want to enjoy watching the game, does that make me a "fake" fan? The real vs. fake fan comparisons are nonsense, you are a fan regardless.

Spare me the attitude and get off your soapbox. And to the other poster, life doesn't always revolve around Michigan and the Red Wings. It is a one minute song that nobody is even going to remember about in the grand scheme of things regarding the game/event. The only people that are going to remember it are ones that are going to piss and moan that it'll take away from the game and find 1500 different things to complain about, such as yourself, which it won't. It is played in a baseball park and one of the best ones at that so let whoever have his/her moment with the song if it happens, and just leave it at that. IT IS A SONG, NO MORE NO LESS. Good freaking grief some of you will find anything to be miserable about. At least Detroit is playing in the game, be happy with that. EDIT: If you don't think the song is a good idea, that's fine, I have no problem with that and I understand there will be people who don't like it. What I have a problem with, a big problem with, is people giving me s**t and an attitude when I have done absolutely nothing to provoke being dumped on.

As if we need another reason to want to crush San Jose
SouthernWingsFan replied to Antilles328's topic in General
I highly doubt there is any connection whatsoever that this move is solely a ploy against the Detroit Red Wings. Lemieux wants to make a comeback, the San Jose organization is giving him a chance, nothing more or less. Now, would I like to see a little nostalgia from the 90s regarding all the Lemieux drama in the remaining 2 games against the Wings? Absolutely. Definitely not holding my breath waiting for it to happen though. The man is 43, the article there gave little/no indication that he's going to be playing with the Sharks anytime soon (the Sharks themselves, not minor league affiliates), and even after his Colorado years the few times the Wings saw him in New Jersey and Dallas (stint there was brief, did they even meet up when Lemieux was a Star?) not much happened in terms of big hits or drama. Wouldn't expect that to change now at least on the ice. -
Yep. It's just a song that is as far from as offensive as you can get. Don't really see the harm in possibly doing this.

I'll take optimism, even if it is blind at times, every time over the Negative Nancy and Panic Attack attitudes that happen in here sometimes.

I just want Draper and Maltby to re-sign whenever their contracts are up just to see the funny reactions from people in here.

What do you think could jumpstart the Wings?
SouthernWingsFan replied to XxGoWingsxX's topic in General
Well, that would get them to jump per se, but I doubt they'd be feeling really good immediately after. -
Hell's Bells - AC/DC

Nope, don't need one for about another 1500 - 2000 I think. Add about 500-700 miles to that as I intentionally put them off since you can almost always go over 3000 miles with some leeway. The person below me thinks this is funny in a goofy kinda way.

Scotty Bowman was notorious for juggling lines like crazy. He won plenty of Cups in his career, including a few with Detroit. I understand what you are saying in that 1st sentence, but line juggling is one of the last things I would be concerned about. -
What you are suggesting is an extreme measure when times aren't even close to extreme. A 2 game losing streak and having little to no chance of missing a playoff spot is not a cause for extreme changes. Everybody goes through 2 game losing streaks.

Nuggie = Rubbing people on their heads really hard with your knuckles or middle/hard part of your fingers. I guess so on the above but I don't really think about stuff like that much. With me and sports I rarely miss games of my favorite teams, I enjoy watching them, but it isn't a life/death thing for me or a reflection thing for me much, if that makes any sense. *shrugs* The person below me has accidentally hammered a nail into their finger before.

Eating more wheaties in the morning, chicken wings, pizza, alcohol, some rated-R stuff that I'll let you use your imagination with. I don't know, these things motivate me usually. -
Not overly necessary. Every team, good or bad, is going to hit roadblocks and adversity through an 80+ game season. Good teams eventually overcome those roadblocks. Detroit is a good team. No need to do anything drastic when this team isn't even close to just snagging downhill or missing the playoffs.

Really touching column on how a charitable organization helps others out through the sport of hockey, with the setting taking place in Rapid City, South Dakota. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3791278

Curtis Mayfield - Pusherman Don't care so much for some of the lyrics, but the song has such a great funky beat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eE16Cdb_EU...feature=related

You are going to lose games in an 80+ game regular season. You are going to sometimes lose to teams you expect to normally beat, you are going to sometimes beat teams where you think on paper you have no chance. There's no karma, correlations, or anything like that. Losses happen sometimes.

Also Adam Sandler in the Wedding Singer sang that. Love Hurts - Nazareth

Actually never have had a convenience store job. The person below me has given/received a nuggie recently.

Nope, I'm like many men. I'm not a big guy, but I LOVE eating. The person below me has mooned somebody before.

Where the River Goes - Stone Temple Pilots It helps to be familiar with 2 songs of nearly the same title.
