    Brendan Morrow suffers torn ACL

Ouch. Given their poor start this doesn't help, and having torn my ACL and MCL personally about 4 years ago, rehab is not fun, and is not quick. I still feel the difference in knee I junked up compared to the one that is fully healthy when I work out or, and I'm no professional athlete. Hopefully Morrow gets back as soon as he can in a healthy manner.

Did the Wings screw this up or is it too early to tell?

Re-stating more or less what others have already mentioned in terms of it being way too early to see if the Wings were in the wrong here but I'll go on... Quincey knew what the situation was with the Wings this year during pre-season and early season. Logjam on defense, and if somebody didn't perform, they were going to be traded or waived. Chelios' status has little/nothing to do with Quincey not being with Detroit anymore. And even if Quincey did win a spot over Meech or Lebda or Lilja you know he wouldn't be playing that much. And this is one of those things where it is very, very hard to predict the future but very, very easy to play armchair quarterback AFTER IT HAPPENED. Very similar to when plenty on here were going off the deep end getting upset on the Bertuzzi/draft pick trade AFTER THE FACT when Bertuzzi underperformed overall with the Wings and the draft pick Matthias is currently doing well still I am assuming. Pretty decent looking trade/situation at the time, but sometimes it doesn't work out. How could anybody have known AT THE TIME the trade happened? You take chances to improve your team, sometimes they don't work out. This one didn't. We don't know if the Quincey waivers situation will result in the same thing yet where the Wings lost out.

    Lilja vs. Souray!

Not much of a worthwhile fight from either side. That being said though, I always appreciate when people drop the gloves and start throwing fists as long as it isn't a cheapshot or suckerpunching or stuff like that as it takes guts to be willing to get in a tussle like that. I'm not one of those, "OH MY GOD YEAH A FIGHT BEAT HIS BRAINS IN!!!!!!!" kinda people though. More often than not it just is what it is, a fight, nothing to snooze through but worth really mentioning 3 weeks later at the dinnertable. This is another one of those fights.

Sidney Crosby is leading by the example

The difference between Avery and Crosby, unless Crosby has done/said stuff like this that I haven't heard about, is that it doesn't take much for Avery to act like a jackass, and it isn't too hard to figure out that Avery is one of those "HEY LOOK AT ME I WANT ALL THE ATTENTION!" types. Is that good for the game? Sometimes yes, and sometimes it has backfired in Avery's face. Crosby doesn't intetionally act like a jackass for self-serving attention. I'm still not convinced. Would I need to watch more Pittsburgh games to be convinced? Probably so, but I still don't see why such a huge deal has to made about it that he might do it excessively. Why? It's too simplistic, too generic of a term. Now, if he were a locker room cancer of sorts or intentionally pissing people off like Avery does on occassion to where it offends others, then I'd think differently of him. I see no supporting evidence that Crosby is purposefully an a'hole to fans or craves self-serving attention like "HEY! ADORE ME BECAUSE I'M CROSBY, ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE NHL RIGHT NOW!" or anything like that on a consistent basis. You have far more people out there who simply whine here and there compared to people who intentionally act like jerks like Avery does on occasion, which is another reason to me why it is a little silly to dislike Crosby solely because of this. Disliking Crosby because he whines is just a trendy thing to do right now. A fad like somebody has already mentioned in here, largely due to a combination of media hype as well as him being as good as he is at a fairly young age, like you said more or less (not the fad itself, but because he's Crosby). Some fads and trendy things are cool and fun, but I personally think this one is silly and people get carried away with it, and not in a good way. Plenty of other players in the league, and plenty of other people when they are at work whine as well, and it is just as obvious. And I do understand the argument you make that it might be "part of his game". People whine though when they get frustrated working or things don't always go right, whether they are making a living as professional hockey athletes or computer desk jobs like I do. I've had my fair share of moments of whining or outbursts where I wanted to break my computer for simple things not working like they should or when I might not do my job as well as I should or I get criticized unfairly. Again, whining is too simplistic of a term to just roast an athlete over. And I'm not a Sydney Slappie or drool a puddle of spit over him, I don't do that for any athlete or leader. Whining is just that, nothing more or less, and it isn't just limited to Crosby and plenty of people excel at it.

    Versus camera work

Not me. They show hockey. They show some college football, and usually a few games of my school each year. They show cage fighting which I'm not a die-hard fan of but I'll glance at before bedtime sometimes. They show sports movies that I like every now and then. The network isn't that bad.

Sidney Crosby is leading by the example

So? Tampa Bay Lightning's arena is almost 22,000 seats I think. They probably didn't sell out all the time when they were struggling. The big college down here has won 2 National Championsips in football over the last few years and sell out pretty much all their games in a 90,000+ seat stadium. 10-15 years ago they were consistently bad with losing records and didn't even come close to selling out their stadium which was about 80,000 seats at the time. The New Orleans Saints sell games out now, but they could rarely ever sell out their Superdome of 70,000 when they weren't as good years ago. You're not always going to sell games out. Bandwagoners exist on any and every team whenever they are good. Winning typically leads to more attendance at games, losing typically leads to less attendance, regardless of stadium/arena size. And so do the people that excessively do it about him complaining, including people in here and yourself personally, like you just said. It holds true. But people are acting like that to a pretty good degree as everybody in here excessively whines about how Crosby presents himself. You just said so more or less in your expectations of him yourself. I don't smoke as I feel it's bad for my health. No, I don't try too hard to be objective. I try to bring basic logic and examples that are easy to follow when I feel it is needed.

    The person below me game...

No, because I live in the way opposite direction of Ohio and Michigan. I might be going to a high school football playoff game this weekend if that counts. It'll be live if I do. The person below me has had to perform a strip show due to losing a bet.

Sidney Crosby is leading by the example

Plenty of people have joined Detroit's ranks as fans because the Red Wings have been good in recent memory, they could be labeled bandwagoners as well. Does that make them bad? In the 70s and 80s when the Wings were struggling, they had their fair share of empty seats. Winning and success leads to more interest and usually increases attendance at games. There's nothing wrong with that. And it is a part of plenty of other people's games as well when things don't completely go their way. Some of you act like you think everybody should act like perfect angels all the time whether it be at a hockey game or playing in a sporting event or at your job. Well, that doesn't happen in life. I have had plenty of people want to roast my head just about every single call I made when I was a sports official for a brief time period. And some people yapped and complained to me multiple times as well. If you or anybody else in here has played in a rec or beer or work league before, you cannot tell me with a straight face that you've never complained about a call or blown a gasket ever, whether you were the leader of the team or a benchwarmer. I recently complained about a customer giving me attitude even though I was doing my job correctly. I complained about my cable going out this week for the third time in two weeks. I have complained more than once about grocery prices increasing. The complaining card thrown his way his overblown. I get why it happens because it's "fun" to do, but it's still a bit silly and people go off the deep end with it. Is it because he's a captain? Well, I've seen my boss complain or lose his cool more than once. You know what, that, and whining alone, doesn't make one a completely awful boss or leader, he's still a good CEO, the company he runs is still good and doing well for itself in spite of complaining here and there and I've been there for close to 4 years now. Nobody can tell me when they've messed up on a play in sports or something didn't go right at their job that you've just basically continued on the day like normal with a jolly smile singing Kumbayah. Nobody has 100% perfect behavior skills 24-7. Not you, not me, not everybody in here, not Crosby, not Therrien, not Datsyuk, not anybody.

Sidney Crosby is leading by the example

Nobody yet can convince me otherwise that the "Crosby is a whiner" bit is ridiculously overblown. Does he whine? Without question. Did Therrien whine and complain during the Finals? Yep. I can name a handful of Red Wings players who whined on and off the ice. Chelios is as big a yapper as they come. Even our beloved former Captain, Yzerman whined and he was a captain at just as young of an age as well and probably made his fair share of mistakes like Crosby has so far. Babcock whines from time to time. Now before people barbeque my head for what i just said, my point is that everybody and their mother whines at some point in their careers whether they are a captain of a team, a natural-born scorer, or a 4th-line benchwarmer. Maybe I'm being too simplistic regarding this, maybe it was because the Wings recently played the Penguins in a playoff series and beat them, but the Crosby whining tag in here gets to be pretty ridiculous sometimes. I cannot comment on other sports/hockey forums because I don't go to any others with any regularity. Does the media hype Crosby? Without question. That's no mistake though given how much he was promoted even before coming to the league. I haven't watch the Penguins with any regularity, but given the immense pressure put on him so far, overall I think he's done a solid job handling himself on and off the ice given his limited experience, and he's certainly produced on the ice. The Crosby and Penguins media hype doesn't really bother me, it is what it is.

Detroit DOES have a #1 line

Unless the play of one of the two lines just falls in the gutter, not really. It largely just depends on who is out there before a penalty gets called, at least to me. If Datsyuk-Holmstrom-Hossa are out there and draw a penalty, they'll likely get a breather for the first half of a power play. Vice versa if Zetterberg's line is out there.

    Versus camera work

I haven't noticed anything drastically bad on VS's end. For better/worse you got to expect some error/faulty viewing in terms of not seeing the puck all the time due to hockey being a typically fast sport. There'll be error like that in any sport Sometimes I have had trouble following a few plays watching football game's where my school played because they do a lot, and I mean A LOT of zone read plays on offense, basically the QB goes to hand the ball off to the RB but they delay for a few moments and "read" the defense, and it's difficult sometimes to tell who is carrying the ball. That play has certainly fooled the camera many times this season. The only game where the camera angles have been brutal for fan viewing is the Anaheim game I think where it was just completely on-ice or ground view. Just about every goal scored I couldn't tell the puck itself went in, had to wait for player or fan reaction.

Anybody catch Tootoo's quick draw McGraw act

Do I like that Tootoo plays a hard game? Yes. Do I like the energy he brings? Yes. Do I like that he's the first of his generation (unless I heard differently) to make it to the NHL? Yes, and it's a good story, but I don't like how it is sometimes overblown. Do I like how he cheap shots people from time-to-time? No. I like physical and aggressive play just like anybody else, but there are times where you got to curb and harness your aggressive play to where you aren't a detriment to your team. While I don't watch the Predators that much, I'm not sure if Tootoo has learned this. You need a wrecking ball out there on the ice every now and then but that is all he is usually good for. Despite that, he was Nashville's best player in the first few games of the playoff series against Detroit last spring. At times I like him and his intensity, but then with Tootoo I eventually refer to a WTF moment whenever I either see or read about something he did questionable or with a cheap shot.

    Why are we worrying?

Well, that's kinda obvious. Look, you don't like the other sport. That's fine. However your opinion isn't gospel truth (nor is anybody else's) and it's not right to force your opinion down people's throat like it is gospel truth acting like everybody else is a dumb moron that doesn't think like you. Other people on here like baseball. I like it. Does that make me stupid? In terms of the whole worry/expectations thing, success leads to high expectations. That's fair, as long as you keep your expectations realistic and know you aren't going to win it all every year or win every night etc., and I think most people in here are smart enough to realize that. For worrying regarding the play and overall record, it is legitimate as well since the play has been sloppy at times, but no matter what the record is or how well a team might be playing, regardless of who the team is, huge fans are always going to worry excessively, over analyze, and so forth.
