    The person below me game...

Nope, unless we're talking about Imaginary Friend Joe. The person below me has already or will be getting a sugar rush like the Great Cornholio from too much Halloween Candy.

    The person below me game...

I loved Wile E. Coyote back in the day. Looney Tunes rocked! Twice I can recall that I was on TV. One time when I was in high school when some local news channel was broadcasting something during my computer science class. The other time also when I was in high school I think. I went to a lot of college basketball games for one of the schools there. Commuter school and not in a well-known conference like the Big 10, SEC, etc. but they had a rare game that was on ESPN. Anyways I was sitting close to behind one of the baskets a few rows up and the home school there won the game on a final buzzer shot from a 75-foot prayer heave. The guy literally almost scored from around the free throw line of the other basket. Anyways I went into a frenzy celebrating and since I was close to the goal, the camera got a glimpse of me acting like a doofball. In both instances, I was deked out in body paint with colors of the school. Nah, both times you could barely notice that I was actually on the camera. So I am not famous, and nobody has asked for my autograph. The person below me sings some sort of TV theme song in the shower while getting ready for work.

    Official Optimistic Thread!

Hell could freeze over. Meh, it's a 2 game losing streak. Every team from professionals to District-5 pee wee is going to have a 2-game losing streak in an 80+ game season. Does seem worth warranting such a thread like this to be created, though I understand the original poster's point. If God told me my only choice in an 11-game stretch is to have a 7-2-2 record, I'd take it all day. I'd ask God for a few other things as well, but some of those things would probably be unwise and would send me to Hell and prevent it from freezing over. Talk to me when this team has a serious chance of not missing the playoffs, then I'll worry. Even then, I won't be Negative Nimrod.

    Lebda Must Go

While he certainly hasn't been playing well, neither has most of the defense, including the big names. Wishing injury on him is not the way to go and you don't wish injury on any player, I don't care who they are.

First off, welcome aboard. Not entirely. It is so numbing and annoying to see words and thoughts get twisted around like this regarding this issue. Plenty of people on here realize the value of an enforcer and tough guy and they have their spots on the team, but they realize there are other parts of the game as well that serve of similar/more/less importance than having a tough man in there. I'm leaving it at that since there has been a bajillion endless debates about this which I refuse to take part in that go nowhere.

    worried about ozzie?

Yep. While the goaltending numbers are subpar-ish, if you've seen a majority of the games it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that the defense has often hung the Wings goalies out to dry so far these first 10 games.

No jacket, but I did have Starter jerseys. The person below me likes to see other people in pain (assuming they get up from the pain injury free of course), kinda like this.

starting to get a bit paranoid

Yep. Do referees play a hand in determining an outcome of a game? Without question. We've seen instances of this in recent playoffs with phantom interference calls on Holmstrom, heck we saw one this past game disallowing a Ducks goal. Are they to blame or the ultimate major factor when your team loses? Very rarely and blaming the referees for losing a game is a cop-out excuse to me. Referees are going to make some calls that are questionable at times, they are going to miss some obvious penalties. It's part of hockey for better or worse. Sometimes your star players aren't going to score every time or miss the net. Sometimes your defensmen will make a turnover which leads to a goal. Sometimes your goaltender isn't going to stop enough pucks. A myriad of things contribute to a win or a loss so I rarely go the scapegoat route or the blame game, whether it is the refs or one/two players that might have braincramped.

for anyone that is watching the ducks broadcast

I don't get worked up by broadcasters during games and take what they say with a grain of salt. Fans of the opposing team will almost always look for reasons why annoucers or disrespecting their team, or being homers for the team they broadcast for. Pick a handful of Wings fans in here or anywhere, you can expect their to be a pro-Red Wings bias or fans of other teams outside the Wings crying that we're stroking the Wings ego as well. Works both ways. I just like to watch the game and usually tune annoucers out. With that being said, the camera angles they used were not too good. I couldn't tell that most of the goals were scored until after the reactions of the annoucers or the crowd. It just needs to be kept simple. Camera views from the stands, that's it. None of this on-ice camera stuff while the game is in-progress. It is just too hard to keep track of. The only other camera angle that I like is more of a behind-the-net shot from high up like NBC sometimes uses on power plays.

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games

Seconded. It is better than no hockey obviously but the angles were so bad that I couldn't even tell that most of the goals were scored until after the fact from the annoucers' or crowd reaction. I hope these views aren't going to be the norm for future broadcasts within the Fox Sports networks.

Who was/is your all time favourite goalie?

Ryan Miller, because he is talented enough to tell some pretty good "Your Mama" jokes and also tell them in a foreign language. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7iJEmXvLr4

    7-1-1

It's quite simple really... The Wings have done a helluva job avoid the distraction of ice girls and cheerleaders on the road. Me on the other hand...

    LGW Fit Club

Lookin' slim. Excellent. Today was probably my best workout in forever. I lifted weights very hard early this morning for about 45 minutes, then worked on cardio/EFX machine for a half hour late this afternoon and just about killed 430 calories in just a half-hour of work. That's about as fast/intense I can go with some consistency. I'll be running in a 5-mile race in all likelihood on Thanksgiving that I've done plenty before. Running 5 miles isn't all that difficult for me, but I want to try to do it in about an 8 1/2 minute pace. I want to get close to 40 minutes running as best I can, but realistically I want to try to get done in 42 - 43 minutes. I'm still trying to get the guts to possibly run a half-marathon in February.

    NHL Goalie Masks

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi...tml?eref=sircrc Found this while going through my daily check-in of some sports sites over the 'Net. Plenty of masks to go around of most of the current goalies in the league it seems. Enjoy!

    Dan Cleary

Sorry, but he is one of the hardest working offensive guys on the team, and has the capability of either playing a more grinding/defensive oriented role, or turing into a more offensive/goal scoring role in a heartbeat. What are you basing your list off of? Have any sources or specific game instances where these are habits of his?

    Quincey > Meech/Lebda

This has nothing to do with "Euro" style hockey first/physical d-men second or putting fans in the stands. It has everything to do with putting the best product possible on the ice for the Red Wings to win.

    Quincey > Meech/Lebda

This needs to be re-emphasized. Is Quincey a better defenseman than Meech or Lebda? That's debatable and probably an endless debate right now which I will not waste my time with. Was Quincey the better defenseman IN THE RED WINGS SYSTEM compared to Meech and Lebda? According to Wings management, no. It is about who is the better defenseman of the people laid out IN THE RED WINGS SYSTEM. Again it might not be "fair", but Quincey and every else knew the deal that one of them would either be traded or waived given the time period of training camp, pre-season, and early season if the didn't fit into the plans of THE RED WINGS SYSTEM or didn't perform. In the grand scheme of things given the time period, Quincey didn't perform in the eyes of management. Fair? Perhaps not, but life is rarely fair these days. I emphasize RED WINGS SYSTEM because it is about who is the best fit for the Wings, not who might be the best defenseman overall. While Lebda's play has been bad to watch so far, him and Meech fit into the system better as puck-moving/mobile defenseman. 2probert4, not everybody has the benefit on here of seeing training camp or all the preseason games on TV and sometimes we can only go with what we read online for Detroit's local papers or this forum until the regular season starts. I am one of those people. So you might want to cut some people some slack regarding this. I like Quincey. I like that he is a stay at home defenseman. I like that he's known as a physical defenseman. I'd grab a few beers with him on a Saturday night. I'd be willing to be BFF's with him. All right maybe not that far, but you get the idea. In the perfect world, I'd like to see him remain on the Red Wings. But life isn't perfect and he didn't fit in the Red Wings plans better than Meech or Lebda. Life isn't peachy king all the time. You deal with it and move on.

    The person below me game...

Sure, I read the paper online everyday and read a ton of stuff on the Internet. In terms of books/novels, I don't hate reading at all, it just isn't a hobby of mine and if I started reading I'd have to give up some current hobbies which I don't want to do. The person below me excelled at breakdancing when it was popular back in the day, and is not afraid to admit enjoying the fad.
