We shall see when the time will be next time I am in Dallas-Fort Worth area... Absolutely they are. Nice dress. Seriously though, good pic there and other excellent backdrop pictures there. Would like to visit Tokyo sometime in my life.

It's not accurate, nor fair, to call a spade a spade after just 3 games in an 80+ game season. What about Hossa who hasn't scored yet? Kronwall, who I haven't seen lay any bone crunching hits yet in 3 games? Datsyuk for not scoring in 3 games? It's only been 3 games... When I used to play golf I had two rounds near each other one summer where I shot 80, yet a good score for me was typically around 90. Does that mean I should be a 10-handicap golfer? No. I had a stretch where I shot over 100 a few times in a row during a rough patch. Does that mean my golf handicap was around 30? No to that as well. I just had both a good brief run of games, as well as a bad run. In basketball when I played as a kid at school or the playground, if I scored more than 5 points a night it was the equivalent to 40. My career high ever in a game was 12 points. Just 12. I rarely scored more than a bucket or two in limited minutes, but I was always the pain-in-the-rear kid who played in-your-face hard-nosed defense and brought energy (picture Dennis Rodman without the height, rebounding, black skin, hair dye, and cross-dressing ). I remember in a grade school tourney of a few games I had 10 points in a game and 12 points in a game. Does that mean I was a scorer all of a sudden in all the games I played when I was young? Nope. I was still always going to be about defense and hustle. Just a minute amount of games with extremely good/bad stats or good/bad production isn't enough of a sample size to merit fair judgment of any player in a season with so many games regardless of if that player is a superstar or benchwarmer.

Bring back Hasek, Joseph, and Legace for one more run. Or maybe perhaps Mr. Demon Goalie? Seriously though, unfortunately I know little of what goes on in minor league hockey, so I am assuming that Howard and Larsson are still duking it out to eventually be #1 goalie here in a few years.

Thanks. It was. I didn't get to see anything else of Fort Collins other than the stadium/game, CSU's campus and more of the town itself is more north of the stadium I think. The weather for the game was as icky as could be though unless it was outside blizzard or thunderstorm. Around 40 the whole game with consistent wind and off/on rain. I was wearing sweats under my jeans that day and my legs were still pretty numb for most of the game, plenty of people left the game early. The stadium is still set on a nice backdrop nonetheless, I just got to see it on a bad weather day unfortunately. Yep And now something to raise the awwness-o-meter, here was something taken of me and my 2 nephews yesterday evening. No more pictures from me anymore for a while, I promise.

I know there is a Wings game on Thursday night, but if you want to also check out some football action, my school which got back in the top-25 this week and is 6-1 will be playing BYU who is undefeated in the top-10, Thursday night on Versus. Should be a good game, my school has one of the better defenses in the country and BYU is pretty nuts on the offensive side of the ball. I will be watching both games.

Sorry to hear about your loss as well as Alexei Cherepanov as well. My thoughts/prayers will be with his family and friends. A terrible tragedy indeed.

I've read bits and pieces of this book as well and have also enjoyed it. As usual, Yzerman is pretty humble and low-key throughout the stories I read, which is one of the things I like about him most.

Hey, you can hunt for plenty of things from a plane... Ducks, birds, jungle clansmen, stupid people, terrorists...Conklin needs to get more involved in his flying activities!

And other players had their fair share of bad moments in the playoffs as well. Lilja still helped the Wings win a Stanley Cup, as well as pretty much everybody else on the team who had brainfarts every now and then. You don't like him or you think that he isn't as good as some of the other players. That's fine and I highly doubt anybody here is going to change your mind on that. He is far from my favorite but still for the skill set he brings and his fairly cheap salary, he's a respectable stay-at-home defensemen for a #5 or #6 d-man with good shotblocking and penalty killing capabilities. If you don't want him on the team, that's fine as I said above. Who do we trade him for or what should the Wings get for him? But putting him in the minors when he plays most nights and has traits that are important to this team like I explained above, and risk getting him claimed off waivers for NOTHING just doesn't make that much sense to me. If, hypothetically speaking, this team gets better by dealing Lilja for other players or draft picks or cash, great. The Wings aren't going to lose Lilja for NOTHING though in-season, if they ever get serious about wanting to trade him. Get him for SOMETHING/SOMEONE ELSE, not NOTHING. And for the record, I'm neutral on Lilja. When he brainfarts, it is sometimes big unfortunately, but his skill set usually outweights his brainfarts every now and then. I'm not against trading him but I realize his importance on the team even though he's not going to be a top-pairing defenseman anytime soon.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/preview2008/...&id=3634793 Probably predictable to most in here, but some more reading material.

If I'm just the average Joe Smith fan (which I am) and I am in the same room as the Stanley Cup, I'm touching it or raising it above my head. I understand the concept of not touching it if you haven't won it, but I'm not going to be playing for any NHL teams anytime soon, so...

Contact with the referee I assume is an absolute no-no in terms of a player questioning a ref's judgment/call and stuff like that, so I wouldn't be surprised for discipline on Peca for simply making contact with a referee, but what he is being accused for right now, that's just too much and it looks like he barely scraped the guy.
-
How the heck can you afford to go to all those games? However you can do it, much congrats.

Lilja is not on the Wings just for fighting alone. If he were with the Wings just for fighting and not for DEFENSE at all, there'd be plenty of problems. It has been noted plenty in here that he is a very good penalty killer and shot blocker. That, along with being a stay-at-home defenseman, is why he is on the Wings. Not for fighting. He is a steal for his salary of just over $1M a year. For a 5th or 6th d-man, you could do plenty worse.

I took a brief vacation to the Denver area late last week and this weekend for sightseeing as well as to see my alma mater play a football game at Colorado State. Spent most of 1 day in Boulder, a little northwest of the Denver area and hiking a good bit in Boulder Mountain park... A few stadium shots, unfortunately my batteries died out after a few pics or I would've probably taken a few more of game action and stuff.

Not loserish looking at all, good pics there and a very nice dress.

I have little doubt that it is probably a great creation, but I just went with standard NHL Center Ice just to know what I would be getting in terms of legality and the like. If for whatever reasons I have problems with that, I might throw a few dollars to watch games on this place temporarily.

Exactly. Is it a little embarassing that the upside down thing happened? Without question. Was it funny though? Absolutely. Is it worth getting this outraged over in here? Not really.

Meh, whatever, I think it's pretty funny to be honest.

I blame the terrorists for last night's loss.

In a perfect world I'd take Iginla in a heartbeat. Still one of the best power forwards out there. I didn't see this game last night or highlights or this incident, but not everybody is going to lead quietly and behind the scenes like Yzerman usually did and Lidstrom does now.

The Atlanta Falc- Thrashers' third jerseys unveiled!
SouthernWingsFan replied to Cern's topic in General
I definitely don't mind the light-blue of their current color jersey, I got a few casual and dress shirts that are blue that I think look good on me. I just don't like the really contrasting designs on the arms/sleeves. Just do one or the other. I'm just a simple-minded guy when it comes to clothes, I usually just like solid colors/1-color, probably the main reason why I don't like their light blues now. -
All about the jinxes.
