    Stanley Cup is in Russia

Meh, it happened to me all the time when I was younger. Still happens to me sometimes. And people tell me I never would amount to much in life so far. I just laugh it off and laugh at it. The latter at least is false thankfully.

Believe me people can do much, MUCH worse then playfully post goofy picture comparisons IN GOOD FUN. Nobody is talking crap about anybody. You have some nerve to question my "fanhood" when I am just trying to enjoy myself, maybe spread a laugh or two, and doing nothing remotely close to trashing Datsyuk or making him less of a hockey player or person. You are making a big deal out of very little. I've done just that, see my post above.

Come on now, you and Kira need to loosen up some and have some fun. Datsyuk is a big boy, he can handle himself mentally and having friendly jabs, keywords FRIENDLY JABS taken at him that serve no harm whatsoever. He definitely has the sense of humor to do so. Nobody is just flat out saying, "DATSYUK IS ONE UGLY A**HOLE AND I WOULD NEVER WANT TO BE SEEN IN HIM IN PUBLIC BECAUSE HE IS ONE UGLY A**HOLE!" (which he is not of course) Nobody is putting down of the mentally retarded kid or somebody who's face might be permanently jammed because of a life-altering car accident. Not even close. This would be wrong. We can poke fun of what he looks like in a non-threatening way and still enjoy that he is one of the best forwards in the game right now just fine. I get made fun of all the time and I make fun of myself all the time. I kinda look like the evil Chucky in a way, and he's one ugly dude, and so am I sometimes. I don't care. It's funny in a way. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v677/Big...er/IMG_0644.jpg Zetterberg looks like Teen Wolf half the time, and this isn't even with his beard going out of control. Come on, it's true. http://www.jeffleitch.com/Pictures/Hockey/Zetterberg01.jpg Chris Chelios looks like a carbon-copy Anthony Kedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Loosen up. Laugh a little bit, poking fun like this isn't that bad.

As others have already pointed out to you, just because they might prefer other parts of the game more over enforcing, doesn't make them completely against enforcing, or hypocrites. It isn't an all or nothing proposition or either "You are completely with me" or "You are my enemy" comparison. It's not as narrow-minded as black and white as you are making it out to be, there is a grey area. Either you are failing to see this, or you do see this and are just pushing people's buttons. For instance, I can say that I think having a very good goaltending is very important compared to having talented offensive snipers, or big stay-at-home defensemen, or puck-moving defensemen, or an enforcer or two, or a myriad of other things important to a hockey team. So, say you have 10 criteria to the importance of a hockey team. Enforcing is one of those things, along with any other 9 things you choose. I say that enforcers are the 7th most important thing on that list. I'll say implementing the umberall style on the power play is the 10th most important thing. Does that mean I am 100% completely against enforcers or enforcement then? That I value an enforcer less than the umbrella style?

Offsides, I can strongly attest to what zettermaberg is talking about here. I used this mode of thinking more or less when I lost a lot of extra baggage a few years ago. Simply put, I just wanted to look healthier and lose weight and rarely worried about being "X" pounds at "X" date or have 10 different benchmark goals leading to a final goal of weighing a certain amount or feeling a certain way. I'm not saying thinking like that is bad and the targeted goals certainly help many keep focus and stuff, but that just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't want to focus on so many objectives that working out and eating and losing weight sounded like a chore or unbearable assignment, I wanted to have fun with it. No formal rules, no charts, no specific or formal diets. During the few months where I lost a lot, I basically just kept it simple - I was going to really ramp up my intensity on cardio exercising as time permitted with work and personal stuff and how my body reacted, and I just gradually changed my diet habits...no soda and water only, gave up beer and started drinking wine, ate more grilled food/sandwiches/veggies/salads compared to fried food, and so forth. The water thing worked for me because it is easy to drink and essentially has little or no taste. It doesn't taste bad, it is good for you health wise, so drink more of it. This was a BIG difference. Another thing that worked was not necessarily giving up food that might have been bad health wise in some form, but find an alternative. For instance, I LOVED fast food and LOVE chicken, and still allowed myself to eat it from time to time, but new if I just ate fried and fast food, it wasn't going to get the job done. So, I put my love for chicken to healthier use and ate it grilled more, or with salads, ate it roasted instead of fried, etc. Cool jobs to edicius and zettermaberg and puckloo for recent progress.

Could easily just as make a claim that Chelios should be an altenate simply b/c he's been a captain before and b/c of seniority, etc. I understand where you are coming from but if it isn't broke and the alternates are doing their job, no need to fix it. Besides, having Datsyuk and Zetterberg as alternates just about every game, given how they are still around their prime age years/not grizzled veterans, shows to me that the Wings organization is committed to having them be with the team for most or all of their careers, and in very important leadership roles.

You've got...... .....issues Anyways, I was lucky enough to get home early enough to catch game 2 and did most of my laundry to the game. I say that was the best game of the playoffs because I made a long trip to attend that game live. My first (and probably my last) playoff game I have attended.

Players You're Glad Didn't Win It...

How so? I really fail to see how there was any discontent or bitterness from either him or managment in him leaving. He felt it was time to move on and was part of the Wings past and not their future, both the Red Wings and Shanahan are for the better for him moving on and establishing a few decent years in a new place in New York.

I know the Wings played them in the Finals so they are hated a bit more now, generally speaking, but that's a bit of a stretch even though they have lost some personnel. It isn't impossible or unfathomable to think that such a thing could happen, I know it happened to New Jersey one year after the won one of their recent Cups, but I don't think there is going to be much of a dropoff with their team, even with how "weak" the EC might be as next season as you stated.

So, what do we say about Kronwall now?

Yeah I know. I was just trying to show that the poster wanting to roast Kronwall's body parts for an accidental deflection was not really justified with another out-of-whack comparison. Krownall intended (key word: intended ) to put the puck out of danger into the corners like you should do during that sequence of plays. But unfortuantely it got deflected on goal and in by the other team. And while I'm no mind reader, I highly doubt Adam Hall was intentionally thinking, "I'm going to just deflect this puck off my skate into the net" especially when it looked like he was skating away from the goal. Clear the puck towards the corner 19 more times out of 20 like Krownall did and it probably just goes to the corner. You have a better chance of getting scored upon if you attempt to clear the puck with traffic in the middle of the ice vs. the corners or side-boards. Krowall has displayed "poor decision" making in the past, but that one was not a poor one, as explained above. His only options were to clear to the corner with his forehand or blindly backhand it towards the middle of the offensive zone. Goofy deflections. It happens sometimes in hockey and it is something you have zero control over.

I'm absolutely in love with the Ab Solo. I wish the branch of the health club closest to where I live had it. I don't know how old/new it is, but I used it for a while Friday evening at a different branch I go to every now and then, and I still feel my abs/chest area being sore and tight from using it. Pretty easy to use. Similar to doing sit-ups obviously, grab a medicine ball that comes with it, go back, then throw it into the machine just before you completely come up. http://www.absolo.com/index.html http://www.exercisewebstore.com/Images/_Ab...ages/AbSolo.jpg

My brother said the same thing while I was eating dinner at his place tonight. I dunno, what can you do though. If there were no judges or referees though and you called your own score or fouls in basketball or penalties in hockey, there would be so much bias in that perspective. Judges and referees are needed for better or worse to try to maintain neutrality of calls without bias, although we all know no match or game will be called perfectly. And I won't 100% completely dismiss that judges and referees might show bias or favoritism in certain instances (i.e. NBA betting scandal recently), I don't like reaching that far in the cookie jar looking for excuses like that and I'm not a conspiracy theorist, etc. etc.

No, it is more like the majority of people understand the value of enforcers and/or fighting and that they have their place in the game, but realize there are plenty of other parts of hockey that are important than solely seeking out revenge. Then posters such as you and GMR and others who might want more enforcement or fighting for whatever reason (which is your personal preference and I have no problem with) act like extreme nutjobs and twist and overblow the thoughts of most of these people (which I have a problem with), and suddenly we are completely 100% against enforcers. We aren't.

    Hossa to Detroit @ Letsgopens.com

Plenty of people are laughing at Penguins fans for this, but if the teams were reversed and the Red Wings lost in the SCF and Hossa or somebody who was one of the best players in the league did this to the Red Wings to go to the defending champs with the Wings losing in the Finals, I bet plenty of people in here would be writing all kinds of Hossa-hate mail or be practicing their booing when that great player came to town on the other team.

    2008 Summer Olympics

Not to me. I don't know what constitutes a foul or penalty in the game, and the objective seems pretty simple by just trying to throw the ball in the net, but I enjoyed watching it yesterday and was entertained.

So, what do we say about Kronwall now?

Krowall was clearing the puck into the corner when it deflected off Hall, and off the goalpost, and into the goal. If he would've tried to clear it in traffic around the middle of the ice, LGW would have been roasting him for not playing smart hockey by clearing it into the middle in traffic instead of the side boards like you should. Kronwall was doing the right thing by thinking of clearing it to the side there. A deflection occured. It happens in hockey. With that in mind, let me ask you this... When the inital person who shoots a slapshot or wrister puts it on goal, but it gets deflected into the goal, has that inital shooter f'ed up? What about when people who deflect shots miss the net?

    Hossa to Detroit @ Letsgopens.com

Yep, I definitely didn't forget the extras there, but I didn't feel the need to mention that extra stuff b/c the simplicity of it would seem obvious that Penguins fans would be upset with him leaving without going into details of the circumstances, yet people here act so shocked that they are angry about it. And for people who get on Penguin fans who will boo Hossa when the Wings play @ Pitt and say that they are wrong or stupid for doing so...remember when Wings fans booed Todd Bertuzzi last season when he was a Duck? Was the booing of Bertuzzi jusitifed even though he underperformed during his short time as a Wing during a similar time period as Hossa's time with the Penguins?

datsyuk AND zetterberg conn smythe because....

Is this the only basis you are using to say that Datsyuk deserved the Conn Smythe with Zetterberg, or over him? Conn Smythe is for much more than just hitting, it is for best overall player in the playoffs which encompasses a lot more than hitting. As for my thought, Zetterberg certainly deserved it, but it wouldn't of mattered to me if he got it, or Lidstrom, or Datsyuk, or Osgood. We got two of the best forwards in the league in both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game, ON THE SAME TEAM. I don't need number of trophies to validate that one is better or worse than the other, to put them on a pedastal. We got to of the best forwards, and that's enough for me.

Also, I didn't know such a sport existed until watching a match of it yesterday between S. Korea and France. Similar to hockey and soccer in terms of scoring and playing field per se, I liked watching handball for a short while. The match I saw yesterday had plenty of scoring in a 60-minute match., nearly 60 goals between the two teams, so I'm guessing a lot of scoring is standard in it. http://en.beijing2008.cn/sports/handball/index.shtml

    2008 Summer Olympics

I woke up to be able to see most of the U.S. soccer's match against the Netherlands (not sure if it was a re-broadcast or not). They actually had them on the ropes after being down 1-0 at half, scoring two goals within 10 minutes in the 2nd half against a country with traditionally much better results and history in the sport. Ugh, they couldn't hold on though as they fouled in extra time in the 2nd half right before the penalty box, and the Netherlands striker just hit a perfect kick to tie it right at the end. Nevertheless, they are in good shape to the next round of play being 1-0-1, but with a challenging match from Nigeria next. I'll be tuning into the U.S.-China men's basketball game shortly.
