Shouldn't be much of a shock to anybody, regardless of how little time his career was with the Penguins. Hossa's time with them may have been short, but he produced during that short time period, and the Penguins played and lost to the Wings to the Finals. One of your top point getters in Hossa bolts from the Penguins, a legit Cup contender next season, to the team that they lost to, the Red Wings. If I were a Penguin fan I'd be a little disappointed as well.

Pretty much how I see the situation. Not a whole lot surprises me in life anymore so it wouldn't shock me if he actually sign in Chicago. No, I wouldn't be upset or bitter by him doing this because he played in Chicago for so long so you know it is a special place to him, who am I to tell him where to play, and he's in his latter years, etc. etc. Restaurants around the Detroit area...not saying it would be all but impossible to open more restaurants in the Chicago area but it is hard to suggest otherwise that Chelios isn't fully invested mentally and financially in the Detroit area, especially when we haven't read or heard any rumors of him wanting to play anywhere else for a final go-round.

A really sweet club/techno re-mix of the song Walking in Memphis that I heard for the first time tonight while at spinning class. Very catchy and very good. Master Blaster - Walking in Memphis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOmaLUD9Vls...feature=related

Perfectly summed up short and simple, with both his good and bad traits. You and harold esp. with his last post have summed it up greatly about Samuelsson.

By some miracle, I did not spit the wine I am drinking all over my laptop, cause that was damned funny. In terms of getting revenge from the guy giving you gonorrhea, a condom can be a pretty good weapon if you can get a good punch or kick on him first. If you are fortunate enough to take him down, grab one of his arms, open up the condom as wide as you can, and just snap it on his arm! Remember the movie 40-Year Old Virgin? All right I'm gonna stop before I lose all my dignity. Seriously in terms of enforcers, it's the same thing over and over again in here. Many understand and appreciate their value to a team and pretty much open to having such a player around, but a lot vary on their degree of importance compared to other parts of the game, and realize they do not prevent cheap things and the like from happening. Unfortuantely that means the few ultra-enforcer slappies in here misinterpret a lot of that and think just because some might not think it is as important to a team winning compared to other things or whatever else, that means we want a "soft" team or think ZOMG WE'RE GOING TO GET OUR BUTTS KICKED EVERY NIGHT. It is very narrow-minded in terms of judging how a team is tough or soft. Enforcers do not prevent the 1st cheap shot or two from happening. Enforcers may (but may not as well) prevent a 3rd/4th/5th cheap shot from happening in a game. Enforcers do not magically prevent injuries. Enforcers answer cheap shots with a big hit or a fight. Enforcers do have a place on a team and are not worthless pieces of scrubs. In terms of Detroit winning the Stanley Cup, enforcing was probably the 74th reason out of 100 why they won the Cup. Detroit address the pushing around issue by getting Aaron Downey last season, an "enforcer" to some degree. Downey and/or McCarty will be back next season in all likelihood, so the Wings will have somebody to possibly answer cheap shots. Detroit is not a soft team. Detroit is not a soft team just because they don't fight as much. Detroit is not a soft team because they might not just want to beat the s**t out of people constantly after a dead whistle or scrum. Detroit was not a soft team the year before getting Aaron Downey. I like the prescence of an enforcer type but am not going to freak out or lose sleep if Detroit doesn't have a true enforcer b/c they will be making the playoffs regardless. End of story on the enforcement issue for me, as well as the enforcer-condom comparison.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3521152 Really good interview between Ray Emery and Scott Burnside on how Emery is trying to turn is career around overseas. He's definitely talking the talk right now to try to fix it, hopefully he can walk the walk as well once the season starts over there.

^ saying Dick Rod childishly instead of his normal name. That was the start of what seems like a good bit of mouthing off to me in this thread.

And Michigan State fans as well. Both teams still should have won both games, it doesn't matter what excuses you throw out because you are a State supporter or just absolutely loath Michigan.

They didn't win the last two years, but what he/she was referring to 2 seasons ago that Detroit was perceived to just get the snot beat out of them "physically" by "physical" teams in Calgary, San Jose, and Anaheim in the playoffs. Even though they lost in the WCF 2 seasons ago, that perception proved to be a myth in the grand scheme of things.

MSU should've won that game regardless of if it was an exhibition or not. Just like Michigan should've won the App. St. game as well regardless of whether it counted or not. Why'd you have to start mouthing off in the first place?

I like this idea. For some non-serious ideas I suggest... (1) Let the goalies use handguns. (2) For every goal scored against a goalie, he has to pick from a choice of 3 doors for his consequence. a. Sit in a pot of water at boiling temperature for 25 consecutive minutes. b. Look at Michael Jackson for 2 hours straight while he has children at his Never Never Land Ranch. c. Wear a wonderbra for your next 3 outings. *shrugs*

Exactly. This is largely about the waivers. If Ericsson didn't have any waiver options left to where other teams can just pluck him up like that, he'd be on the Wings full-time I think. This is not necessarily a bad thing though as you can never have enough defensive depth. 2006-07 playoffs showed this where injuries to a few defensemen played a significant part in getting the Wings eliminated in the WCF, and 2007-08 playoffs showed this to where all the defensemen were healthy more often than not which played a significant part in the Wings winning the SC.

In terms of exercise, I'd just do a little bit of cardio - jogging/running, stairmasters, whatever. In terms of dieting and food, I don't cook. I'm a frozen food/TV dinner junkie. It is definitely not as good as a cooked meal more often than not or going out for dinner, but I've found a few frozen dinners that I like that both taste fairly decent as well as are pretty easy on fat and calorie intake. Try the Lean Cuisine brands, they usually have decent tasting chicken or pasta, enchiladas, or personal pizzas. The portions are small but fill you up enough to where you are aren't craving more food hours later in the day. I have absolutely gotten addicted to Lean Pockets. Food meshed up in sandwich wraps more/less. 2 wraps in every carton. And most that I have had taste good, and all are under 300 calories. Lean Pockets - Pepporoni Pizza, Garlic Chicken and White Pizza, Cheese Enchilads, and Chicken Fajitas are all very good. I'd also suggest giving up soda. That was one thing that helped me lose a lot of weight a few years ago. If you're craving sugar and soda, just drink a few glasses of water and it'll eventually quench your thirst. Plus, water can be free. Soda isn't. With both the diet/food, be patient with it and don't try to lose 50 pounds overnight. Just try to do a little more each time exercising, and sacraficing a little more/substituting a little bit with your meal.

I don't need to take back anything or be told "I told you so" at all, as I realized injuries with him were going to be concerned but he also had some freak injuries as well, but I realized at the same time he could deliver some pretty healthy hits and was/is a solid puck mover. I never wanted or suggested him to be traded or released.

Tomas Holmstrom in 2000 with missing teeth... Tomas Holmstrom in 2008 with a full set of teeth... He keeps working on his dental work and maybe buys a gold tooth he'll look just as cool as Dr. Teeth from the Muppets.

It looks like you say bandwagon like it is a bad thing. Sorry if I am misinterpreting. You can probably find plenty of Red Wings fans who are bandwagoners as well jumping on the train while the team is good but didn't watch when they were the Dead Wings. I really didn't start watching hockey in a serious manner until the mid-90s a season before Detroit won it's first Stanley Cup in 42 years. The Red Wings eventually grew on me. Does tha make me a bandwagoner? Is that a bad thing? Never can have too many people on the bandwagon. -
Drinking my favorite beer right now, and it takes quite good. In my own words, I think Abita Amber is kinda like a Coors Light or Bud Light with a little more zest and sweetness to it, but what is quoted from the Web site will explain it a bit better. Coors/Bud are pretty simple drinks I think in terms of taste, but I'm a simple minded person more often than not. So something with a little more sweet taste is just fine. One of the best-tasting beers down in my neck of the woods. If you have it at your local grocery store, buy a few bottles. It's good stuff. :chug: http://www.abita.com/brew/amber.html

WWJD? If it has to be somebody who has passed away, can't go wrong with Jesus. But if we're still talking about the living, I'm going to go with the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man. He's big, he's got some weight on him, and if you actually do beat him, you could probably grab a good snack of marshmellow.

What's a "real" Red Wing? What's a "fake" one? Hypothetically of course if I was still on a Stanley Cup winning roster, I don't care if I played just 6 games for the team and no playoffs, or 60 games plus a majority of the playoffs. I busted my tail to play just those 6 games, I busted my tail at practices to help the main guys who play more win a Cup, you're damned straight I'm gonna touch/raise the Cup. This year even if I saw the Cup being a fan of the Red Wings, I'd be touching/raising it as well.

Since it's almost as hot as a sauna on a daily basis here, I've actually been getting back into working out on machines for cardio lately instead of running outdoors. I'm starting to fall in love with EFX machines again. Being able to hold onto the bars/machine makes it a little less taxing than running on a treadmill obviously, and I definitely wouldn't be able to move as fast on a treadmill and keep my energy up, but whenever I'm on the EFX and after getting going on it I feel like I'm shot out of a cannon and I just go as fast as I can and kill as many calories as I can. In 35 minutes today I went for 4.3 miles and killed just over 490 calories in the exercise I did. I do need to get back to just jogging/running though, and I haven't biked outside in forever due to hot weather and house/yard chores on weekends and other stuff going on.

No, not sure where to specifically find a bigger version either. I found it reading game recaps the following day and just did a random Google Search in the images section with Samuelsson's name and a few other word combos and eventually ran into it, this was off of TSN's Web site actually.
