    This Years Mr Irrelevant

No, but you basically just took it only into an account that Fleury gave up a horrible rebound, making it sound like Samuelsson and Filppula shouldn't get any credit in taking part in the goal. I think I can make some safe assumption that if your boy Hudler was involved in that sequence of play, you'd be all over praising him and saying he should get plenty of credit.

You don't have to, and nobody here is either. Again, just give fair credit when it is due. If he doesn't shoot the puck, a good chance the goal doesn't result, regardless of if it is a poor rebound or not. Samuelsson shot the puck which led to the goal, give him credit for it, nothing more or less.

That's fine, but give credit when it is fairly due. Something which you are not doing right now.

And who was the guy that shot it first? May have been a horrible rebound, but if Samuelsson doesn't shoot that shot, good chance that chain of events doesn't lead to a goal. What do you want him to do, blow snot rockets out of his nose?

Some do. One of his shots in Game 6 of the SCF did, and resulted in a goal. Was kinda important.

    McGuire's Monsters

I personally don't care one way or the other about his opinion or am pulling my hair out over it, because... (1) I know the Red Wings won it all and have plenty of hardware/talent etc. (2) Not everybody has to hump the Red Wings' legs (3) I rarely take opinions or columns that serious to begin with (4) This looks to be more of a "power forward" or rugged-type big defensemen list, not necessarily a listing of more "talented" type players. Nothing to get our panties in a bunch over.

And players and coaches have always harped on him to shoot. I'd heed the advice of the coaches and players. His shooting percentage might not be all that respectable but even if (IF, not when like many will say in here) he does miss the net half the time when shoots, if you don't shoot, you can't score or set up rebound opportunities for others.

    SI Article: Wings Drafting...

Quoted for truth. In any draft in any league, there is a certainly degree of luck involved, as well as timing to where you pick in a draft or if you need a backup plan in case your main guy has been picked by somebody else, and so forth. I'm not even a novice when it comes to drafting in any professional sport, honestly I don't pay much attention to any sports drafts, but when you read of scouts that work for the Red Wings in/out of North America and finding maybe lesser known players that still might definitely be capable in the NHL just about every year, that isn't as much of luck there.

Yeah, it'd be a shame to be related to a guy that scored half of the goals to win game 1 for his team of the SCF, and help set up one of the goals in the final game to win the Stanley Cup. I mean what a lazy jackass he is right?

    Comparing Knee Inuries

That shouldn't matter, it is like comparing apples to oranges. Two completely different sport, two completely different objectives to win/do your best, two completely different bodies and how they might react to surgery. Yzerman was never going to be a professional golfer, and unless Woods takes up hockey lessons soon, he's not going to be a professional hockey player. You may say that Woods is a tough golfer, but all these apples/oranges comparisons I've been hearing between him and Yzerman in here that imply YZERMAN GOD, WOODS WUSSY makes it sound like Woods is just that. He isn't and comparing the two athletes and their situations is not necessary.

    The Zetterberg Song

There are some songs that should have just never been introduced into this world. Soulja Boy is one of them. Whenever I heard it, it gave me goosebumps and made me queasy. And not in a good way. Neverthelss, funny Photoshop job there.

    Dallas Drake?

I dunno, I personally want to see jersey numbers based off math formulas and stuff like that. e=mc2, PI*r squared, B X W X H...... That'll be great! As for the original topic at hand, who the heck knows right now. Nothing has really been reported one way or the other towards Drake's decision.

Reporter calls shenanigans on Reffing in the SCF

Pretty much spot on, since the Red Wings had more PPs in the series, but there were some crap missed calls right at the end of game 6, specifially the slashing away of Lilja's stick which was already mentioned I think, as well as Datsyuk getting tripped in the waning seconds. I didn't want to hear any of stuff like this from Red Wings fans before the Finals (even after the bogus Holmstrom interference call in the Dallas series) because they had plenty of calls/no calls going in their favor as well in earlier games...such as an obvious Holmstrom intereference penalty not called in Dallas game 1, Zetterberg possibly tripping a Nashville d-man in the very first game of the playoffs en route to a goal, and so forth. While it is still going to take plenty to convince me that there is an officials conspiracy for/against any team or crap like that, and I still cannot take some of the whining that Red Wings fans display about officiating, some of the missed calls (or the Lidstrom/Holmstrom "no-goal" in game 1) were just awful. I'm talking about whining in the sense of acting like a homer or that the referees are just somehow magically against the Red Wings all the time. However, you can pretty much lay this claim to any hardcore fans of any sports team as well. Having some experience being a referee at much lower levels, I've come to learn that games will be far from perfect in officiating, people make mistakes, a lot of calls are judgement calls in the heat of the moment where you have to make decisions so fast. So I have plenty of respect for referees of any level that have to put up with s**t from fans or soccer moms or parents of the kid who is the perfect sports angel that can do no wrong. Referees can never win unfortuantely in trying to please everybody. Again to re-state short and sweet this time, no conspiracies, but some of the calls/no-calls were definitely of the large WTF variety. Pretty much in any game though in any sport, both teams will get their share of good and bad calls.

    Preds sign Ellis, 2yrs, 3.5m

Good signing and still at a fairly cheap rate. Ellis still has aways to go I think before he can earn "big money", but he deserves this raise and played his rear end off in the playoff series in the first round. If he can keep that play up on a consistent basis, a bigger pay-day will come for him.

    Emery on waivers

Can't say I'm really surprised by this. While I rarely watched the Ottawa Senators this past season, when you have media reporting of locker room problems, well (Captain Obvious moment here )...... I'm pretty sure it wasn't all Emery, but it wouldn't be surprising if he was a major part of the problem. He's still in his mid-20s and has plenty of years of being in athletic shape left in him. Hopefully, like others said, he can adjust his attitude to complement his goaltending as his tank is far from empty wherever he lands up.

Red Wings Cup Champs Book and Medallions

Groovy there... For people still having problems ordering the book, I got a call back this morning from a representative either with the Detroit Red Wings or Joe Louis Arena regarding the book order. We cleared up my order and while nothing has showed up on my bank statment yet based off this phone call, all appears to be set regarding whatever goof ups there were on my order. So, call either/both numbers that have been posted in this thread if you are still having difficulty and order straight from a representative. If people are getting copies at the present time and assuming they aren't low or have run out of books to reproduce, delivery should be within reason of normal shipping by air or truck I would guess.

    Comparing Knee Inuries

I understand your though process Kicker, but you were pretty much destined for a flaming with the thought process because people were going to take it as YZERMAN ROX AND IS GOD!!!!!!!! and Woods being a wussy, espeically since the people you stated probably don't have as much knowledge about hockey or Steve Yzerman as you do. While what Yzerman did overcome in 2002 was absolutely phenomenal, it should take absolutely nothing away from how Woods was able to win the US Open a few days ago. It might have been more painful for Yzerman, but you are talking about two different sports where the goals for winning/doing your best are completely different and require different things. Playing with stress factures and on an ACL that is already torn, I don't care who you are, has got to be difficult. If it wasn't so painful for Woods to play this tournament, he wouldn't be having surgery ASAP and would be continuting to play tourneys with plenty of events left on the PGA Tour this season.

    NBA FINALS: Celtics Vs. Lakers

While I didn't watch every second of this detail, I wanted the Celtics to win. Not because they already won and I don't hate the Lakers or any team by any stretch of the imagination, but b/c P.J. Brown was a former New Orleans Hornet and Big Baby Glen Davis played basketball/went to LSU for college.

    Soccer!

Heh. I watched just about all that game. While our country definitely has a decent roster, you got to have a respectable one if you are ranked aroun 20 in the FIFA futbol rankings, I think this was more due to Barbados just being inferior that day. I think I heard they were ranked 120 in FIFA futbol. I expect though with Barbados playing at their home country and being humiliated last game, they will put up a better fight when they and the U.S. meet again on Sunday. I highly doubt we'll see another 8-0 affair, but as long as the U.S. plays calm, composed, and patient, they should win without much difficulty. EDIT: And I did watch most of the Euro match before b/w the Turkey and the Czeck Republic. Helluva comeback by the Turks there coming back from a 2-0 deficit late.

    NHL approves 3 rule changes

Never really thought much of a change to the first rule, doesn't really bug me one way or the other. I'm actually not sure how much I initially like the 2nd, if two guys are going for an icing play an the one guy who is trying to prevent the icing makes a fair/legit check to prevent it, I don't see the problem in that. I'm for the 3rd rule there.
