Beautifully stated. Let's also give kudos for not giving a phantom interference call on Holmstrom on Rafalski's PP goal since we are a tad bit touchy on that subject.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATORADE!!!!!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATORADE!!!!!!!! In all seriousness though, great for McCarty fighting an addicition, and from the look of things completely conquering it. We all know he's not the player he once was in the late 90s/early century, but to see him be pretty successful in his comeback attempt all things considering with his role, and looking like he's straightening his personal life out, you have to just be really proud of this man.

Yep. Look I know people in here love to twist and scrutinize every. single. word. of a player, coach, or analyst....but seriously, our team just won the . Why must we find pointless stuff to complain about NOW of all times? Cherry said we'd win the Cup from day 1 of the playoffs and stuck to it. How can you be bitter when you picked somebody to win from the start?

Much thanks to Matt AND the moderators for keeping this site as clean as possible, AND to all the members who make this place worthwhile to come to for me just about everyday. :beerbuddy:

For the most part I agree with what you say. I know this is to be expected to a degree between fans of the teams, but some of the Penguins fans that joined here were pretty obnoxious from what I've seen and acted like trolls just starting s**t for the sake of doing it. That being said, I know that isn't indicative of the entire Penguins fan base and there have been a few Pens fans in here that have been a pleasure to have. I haven't listen to much post-game stuff yet so this might not be accurate, but I still don't like Therien's post-game remarks this series overall. Just constant whining. Oh well, we've beaten this subject to a dead horse so I won't go on with that. As much as we have whined about Crosby whining, I think overall he's handled himself very well on and off the ice. Outside of Hossa and Fluery (inconsistently), he was one of the few Pens to produce and even though he was kept in check for the most part, you can tell he was busting his butt out there and leading by example in a good way on the ice. Hopefully he won't be a bust as a captain without a Cup like Lindros turned out, b/c I do think in the grand scheme of things he's pretty humble and will definitely lead by example. Good to see Malkin finally show up. He's like Datsyuk a few years ago I think, not entirely sure if he's going to be one of your go-to guys, but I think he'll only get better as he gets some more seasoning and more comfortable in this country. I'd be shocked if the Penguins don't win the Cup at least once in the next 4-5 years.

A few things will always be consistent on LGW... (1) Overdramatic complaining and freaking out during a losing streak or adversity (2) Overdramatic rants about ESPN (3) One or two players always being the annual scapegoat (4) Overreacting about Don Cherry

Anyone Else Just Not Want To Go To Bed?
SouthernWingsFan replied to Daniel Chosen's topic in General
I got so much that I want to read and watch, but I gotta be to work by 8:00am so reading and catching up on the news articles and videos will have to wait until tomorrow evening, I gotta get to bed soon. -
I do not think much of Dan O'Halloran.

INXS - The Strangest Party/These Are The Times...a great celebration song.

Yes on Chelios since he probably wants to be playing as well and putting any personal ego aside, no to the rest of them b/c those are apples to oranges comaprisons when those last few haven't even played any playoff games this year.
-
Yes, and for being a team player and putting any personal ego aside when you/I/everybody else knows he'd rather be playing right now.

Logan. Somehow the name is tied/related to the name Wolverine, so his older brother who will be 5 next month is just going to call him Wolverine all the time.

I had trouble sleeping last night, not because I was pissed off or stuff like that, I just couldn't fall asleep for whatever reason. Losing hurts, but this one is quite the hurting one. While I'm always nervous during playoff games and things like that and suspension was definitely building as time was winding down in the 3rd period, I try not to take this stuff so seriously that I throw stuff at the TV or yell and rant and things like that. When the tying goal by Pitt was scored, I just collapsed down in my sofa for a few seconds, then composed myself and got upbeat/optimistic again. When the OT goal was scored, I collapsed again briefly and then just changed the channel and watched TV for a short while. While a loss like this never just leaves the mind quickly, I put it behind me pretty well, eventually lied in bed and really didn't think about it much today at work. It's definitely been in the back of my mind today, but it hasn't eaten at me alive.

Thank you all for a wonderful time!

Best of luck treating the cancer and get better soon! While hopefully watching our team with the SCF is very important, it still means very little when compared to doing this to keep yourself in as good of mental/physical health as possible. Get on back here whenever you can! -
Me and my 2nd nephew, the newest edition of my family as of this mid-morning.

Getting a little nervous, Detroit fans?
SouthernWingsFan replied to BewareThePenguin's topic in General
Always nervous during playoff games for the most part. Strangely enough, my nerves often settle and I enter a calm state if the other team usually scores first. Not that I wish for that to happen obviously, but when we're up even by 2, 3 goals I'm just more nervous holding onto the lead for whatever reasons. That being said, about the series yep I'm still nervous for the reason that it is defiintely still possible for a team that was trailing 3-1 in a series to win it all. Only happened once in the SCF, but we've seen examples of it happening more than once in other rounds. From the Penguins point of view...I go back and forth between them thinking that they are just going to be so jacked up, and then back to that they are going to be so gassed out. And I just don't know how loose they'll be, I think the nerves that Detroit showed at home to start might hit the Penguins next game to start, although this is just one idiot's opinion. From the Red Wings point of view...I sense them being pretty upset at themselves. They outplayed the Penguins from the 3rd on for the most part last game but just couldn't close the deal. If they are able to match whatever intensity level the Penguins have to start, I like their chances to close next game b/c I'd be surprised to see them come out lackadasial given what happened last game. Who knows what will happen next game, but I'm really looking forward to it. -
Throughout stages of any/every game in pretty much any sport, both teams in a game will get their share of both fair calls, good calls, bad calls, no calls, or whatever else. Using the officials to blame for a loss more often than not is a cop-out excuse, and they certainly didn't lose the game for the Wings last night.
-
Referees also gave the Wings a PP to start the game, and they had one in double overtime. Bad calls work both ways for both teams.
-
Fleury didn't outplay Osgood at all in games 1, 2, and 4, so you can't really accurately say that he is completely outplaying him this series. The goaltender isn't the problem.
-
And because of this, you are implying that they are in doomed beyond repair for the next game and game 7, when game 6 hasn't even been played yet and we haven't seen how EITHER team has come out yet?
-
And how do you know this and that the Wings are done when game 6 hasn't even been played yet? It is entirely possible as well that Pittsburgh might not play a complete 60 minutes either.
-
Wings won game 4 and didn't score the 1st goal of the game. Scoring the 1st goal is always fine and dandy of course, but it doesn't mean everything.
-
And saying that is pre-mature and silly before we know what will actually happen in game 7 (assuming Pitt wins game 6).
