Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now
-
He played very solid for the majority of last year's playoffs, hence him not always being a liability.
-
New markets/people probably identify with superstars/well-known players first, hence promoting them to the fullest extent. It's not insulting at all, that's basic marketing. Coke and Pepsi are good examples of this.
-
For the most part, he's a decent PKer and shot blocker, and we saw last playoffs how spledidly he played minus a game 5 muffed pass against Anaheim. We've seen it before and it's possible to see it again. So how do you know he's NOT going to rebound next game when the game hasn't even been played yet, assuming he plays?
-
And how do you know Lilja won't rebound (assuming he plays) in game 4 when the game hasn't even been played yet? You got a magic crystal ball that predicts the future? I get that Lilja isn't as good as some of the other players but some of you all are really acting beyond obnoxious when Lilja wasn't the only deciding factor in the Wings loss.
-
Good grief this is even funnier and funnier. So Gill and Lilja turning the puck over is because of "lack of heart"? They aren't even trying or giving two s**ts out there with no effort. Are you seriously seeing what you type?
-
Stuart and Zetterberg miscommunicated and brainfarted on a routine clearing pass which led to a turnover/goal. Holmstrom could have easily scored on a rebound shot if not for Fleury making a great save. Flipper should've scored if not for a great pad stretching stop by Fleury. Wings could've scored on a few more PPs. I could give you countless other scenarios that other individuals did/didn't do, as well as the team, which led to the loss.
-
And Hal Gill failed to get the puck in that scenario as well. You all act like Lilja is the only defenseman that is capable of making such hideous mistakes. It isn't just him. Such things happen to plenty of defensemen in the league. Some of you are amusing me more and more this morning with each continuing obnoxious posts.
-
Samuelsson checked Hal Gill into the boards in game 1 a pretty darn similar way that Roberts did to Lilja in game 4 (EDIT: I meant game 3 ), both which forced turnovers and led to goals. It's not just an OMG HE PULLED A LILJA syndrome where Lilja is the only person that is capable of screwing up.
-
Chelios got benched. People have been saying forever that he plays and busts his butt off like a warrior out there. He still got benched.
-
Wings players and Coach Babcock themselves have said they think Lilja is important on the penalty kill and is a good shot blocker. And if you want to think I have rose-budded glasses, have at it. I'm just going with what I read from WINGS PLAYERS AND COACHES. And I also like posting unassuming/middle-of-the-road posts like I did b/c I know it quoted more reliable sources than Internet sports forum quarterbacks, and part of me likes to push people's buttons that act onbonxious and over the top after a loss.

And it still comes down to pimping and promoting the heck out of your main product. Crosby is that product, and he is on the Penguins. It may not be as "sexy" to us because we are fans of the other team obviously, but it would be more of a feelgood story to more people in this country if the Penguins win, because the league hammers home their main marketing ploy who happens to play on the Penguins. More people would identify with the Penguins winning first, than they would the Red Wings...for this season at least. And Hank and Nightfall, you both hit homeruns with your posts. Finally a few other people understand that it is an NHL thing, not just something only about the Red Wings.
-
Because he is a good penalty killer and good shot blocker.
-
What other bad games did he have in the playoffs besides this past game 3? Has he had a handful of bad games? Doesn't seem like it to me. Think before you post.

Could You Believe Malkin's Antics Tonight?

They can certainly do that, but like the last post, it all comes back down to promoting your bread and butter that new peopl can first remember.
-
True, but again it all comes back down to promoting the hell out of your MAIN product. Sydney Crosby is that main product. The NHL is trying to attract new viewers. Sydney Crosby is a way to hammer that into people's brains. People would easily remember him. People like you and me, the NHL has already got us in because we are big fans to begin with from the start and probably aren't leaving watching the game anytime soon.
-
People get checked into the boards all the time by a forechecker which causes a turnover. Samuelsson did it perfectly to Hal Gill in game 1. It's not just an OMG HE PULLED A LILJA job where Lilja is the one and only one that can be guilty of this happening. He played neither good or bad.
-
Nope.
-
Perhaps, but I think in any part of business there is marketing involved, and that includes promoting your products and trying to get the general public more aware to use that product, watch it, whatever else. Crosby is that main product for the NHL right now. Hence, you pimp the heck out of your main product. Simple Marketing 101.
-
No I'm trying to settle you down as he didn't play neither good or bad.
-
I just don't listen to that stuff as much or take it too seriously as in the grand scheme of things, as I highly doubt hockey isn't going away anytime soon.
