I was at first in the Colorado series to see so many doom-and-gloomers just make a 180 degree turn on the pendulum to WINGS ROOL AND ARE INDESTRUCTABLE! Plenty of people have turned cocky and arrogant. Never celebrate too early like we've won everything then you sound stupid in the end. It almost bit the Wings in the rear in the Dallas series after plenty of people were already yelling SWEEEEEEEEEEEP before it happened.

It's a start and at minimum I hope the schedule remains like this at the very least. I'd like the NHL to use something similar to the NBA schedule though. In the NBA, you play 4 regular season games (2 home 2 road) against ALL conference opponents, regardless of whether they are in your division or not. You play non-conference opponents 2 times (1 home 1 road). 14 conference opponents x 4 games = 56 games 15 non-conference opponents x 2 games = 30 games 86 games would be stretching it, but I'd like them to mimic something around this.

No lie. I understand what you all are saying, but seriously what do you expect Penguins management to do? If the Red Wings organization was in that exact same situation, I can betcha they'd probably do the same thing and Red Wings fans would be humping Crosby's and Malkin's legs for being on the Wings team. Penguins Management: "Let's just not pick these two guys and continue to be terrible so we can move out of Pittsburgh!" Doesn't sound to smart to me... (yes, extreme sarcasm on me part there) They deserve their fair credit for drafting right, even if it wasn't "as good" as Detroit, and even still top draft picks can be busts in the long run. Crosby and Malkin had to back up their high draft pick statuses on the ice. And thankfully for Penguins management, they did. Red Wings fans, be thankful that we have a scout team that is damned good and finds talent that might not be as well known, but don't chastise other organizations for doing the right things, and fair things completely within the rules, for improving their organizations as well.

I haven't read the 4 pages so I apologize for re-hashing points... What is this European mindset that you are describing? Care to elaborate? And forgive me if this comes out jerkish...but are you a qualified or trained doctor, and one that specifically works and examines the players? I am betting very little or none of us are qualified to make such decisions. I understand this is the time of year to play through pain and you try to play by any means necessary mentally and physically. But if doctors cannot or will not clear somebody to play, you don't play, simple as that. As much as I want the Wings to win the Cup, the health of a person is much more important. I'm betting it is eating away at Franzen not being in there and there's probably nobody more than himself who wants to get back out there more badly than him. What about Stu Barnes last series for Dallas? He had "concussion-like" symptoms and he was out for that entire series. He's a perfect example of a hard-working blue-collar kinda guy for hockey with his play. Should he be chastized as well for the doctor's decision not to let him play? No clearance though, no play.
