    The Official O'Halloran Resignation Petition

I'm definitely not discounting the "no-goal" and saying it wasn't a factor. Playing the referee lost the game excuse card out though all of a sudden because our team suffered this game doesn't make it legit or valid all of a sudden when we've given the opposing team so much s**t on the excuse card either. And I'm not trying to put this loss solely or even largely on Samuelsson's shoulders either, lord knows people act obnoxiously towards his case, was just using that specific instance of him as an example, as well as plenty of others which contributed to the Wings loss... Not solely or largely because of questionable officiating....

Why is there a game tomorrow?

The "phantom interference" call on Holmstrom in the regular season matinee game against the Ducks which would've tied the score and likely sent the game to overtime, judgment call by the refs, even though it wasn't called right. Even the "no-interference" call on Holmstrom in game 1 of this series which went the Wings way (I know…shocking that referees can actually make calls for the Red Wings, heaven forbid… /sarcasm), another judgment call by the refs which should've been the other way around. Again it is difficult to make split-second decisions out there. I have been an official before in games not even close to this skill level in different sports, but still where the players on the playing surface were competent/decent at the game and it is not easy. I've made some terrible calls as well. I'm more annoyed by the fact that stuff like this isn't reviewable to make the calls exactly, or close to 100% as possible, accurate. If you don't like my opinion after a Wings loss or think I'm full of it because I might go against the grain from the opinions of other Wings fans more than usual or because I try to bring an entire perspective to the table instead of an "OMG THE WINGS LOST, LET'S ALL COMPLETELY BLAME THE REFS OR ANNOUCERS AND NOT HOLD OUR WINGS ACCOUNTABLE OR GIVE THE STARS ANY CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE" opinion, that's your tough luck then.

"That's a reputation call... Sutherland blew it"

We've been giving Stars fans and media so much s**t the first three games for giving the Stars "excuses" why they lost. While the call itself last night was bad yes, I can think of plenty of different things the Wings didn't do or could have done to win this game. And the referees certainly gave us more chances to win the game with more PPs in the 2nd and a 6-ON-3 opportunity in the third. You or us doing the same thing last night as we claim Stars fans and annoucers have done the first three games doesn't make it justifiable or right all of a sudden.

    No More Respect for Turco

What do you expect him to say? That he or his team got "lucky" by the bad call? Of course he's going to try to put as much of a spin on it as possible to justify that the call was correct. That being said, it was definitely a bad call to me like most others. And I'm not so much annoyed that the referee called it like that b/c it is a judgement call where things happen so fast, what irks me more is stuff like that is not reviewable to reverse the call or make it right. And while the referees certainly played some part in the Wings loss, they certainly gave the Wings chances to get back in the game or win as well, with extra PPs in the 2nd and a 6-on-3 chance at the end. Wings hit some posts too (Cleary, Holmstrom). So it isn't fair to blame the referees for the loss, especially when we have been all over Stars fans and media for giving the Stars "excuses" to lose these first three games, whether they were tired or didn't have all of their guys or whatever else. We're just doing the same thing here in the Wings loss and that doesn't make it justifiable all of a sudden. Bottom line is even with the flooped up call Dallas still capitalized on fewer chances given them, and they outplayed the Wings that game in the grand scheme of things, blown call or no. Move on to game 5 and look for Holmstrom and Cleary (and Franzen if available) to still be pains in the asses for Turco and limit his vision. This shouldn't change how the Wings play.

    Fine Turco!

Understood on the not losing/losing cool factors of the scenario. And I apologize for the other stuff directed towards you as well.

    Fine Turco!

:nopity: If the annoucers, referees, and players of the Red Wings saw or reacted to the play to where it would have warranted a scrum or bringing the instance to the attention of the officials, we would've heard about it by now. I didn't see anything significant to even make this an issue, and by the look of things the Red Wings players/coaches/refs probably didn't either. If that's the case, this shouldn't be something to get a hissy fit over. Get over the loss and let's move on to game 5.

Why the Wings are going to lose the series to Dallas...

I thought it was 12 (in one way ) It's like that damn 12-step program battling alcoholism. It just can't quite be done! I can only get to the 10th step! 10-step program! Or something....

"That's a reputation call... Sutherland blew it"

I will repeat, as much as I didn't like the call and it was wrong, blaming the referees tonight is a cop-out excuse. And Wings fans have been jumping all over Stars fans and analysts these first 3 games with "excuses" of them being tired and the like. In the grand scheme of things Dallas outplayed the Wings and capitalized more on fewer opportunities. And it was Babcock himself that said in the 1st round after a game that the referees are trying their hardest as well to advance as they want to officiate in the SCF. I understand the frustration by him and us as well, but solely blaming the referees is a cop-out excuse.

    The Official O'Halloran Resignation Petition

For those of you whining about the referees and saying they lost the game for us, take a look in the mirror. All I've been hearing with the Stars losing the first three games is seeing Wings fans talk about "excuses" of the Stars being too tired, annoucers saying the same thing, etc. etc. You know what you all are using right now with the referees? An excuse! You all are a bunch of hypocrites. While the "interference" call itself was bogus, yes, I'm not so much annoyed that the referee got it wrong trying to make the right call in the heat of the moment, I'm more annoyed that something like that isn't reviewable to make the call right. But you know what? These referees also gave the Wings plenty of other chances to get back in the game. A few other PPs in the 2nd, and a 6-ON-3, I'll repeat..........a 6-ON-3 power play in which the Wings failed to score on. Blaming the referees is an absolute cop-out and lame excuse. What about Rafalski's bad penalty leading to the Stars PP goal? What about Cleary and Holmstrom hitting posts? What about Sameulsson and others not hustling and scrambling around leading to the Stars 3rd goal? Those aren't mistakes that should be attributed to the Wings losing? It's just the referees fault? Again, you all are displaying hypocrisy at a very high level.

For the love of god. The Wings lost a game. Dallas outplayed them. Don't be a sore loser. Let's move on to game 5.

ESPN's Mike Greenberg predicts a comeback

Well, he's still in the clear so far. Takes 4 games to win a series. While we're still in good shape, don't count our chickens before they hatch.
  16. SouthernWingsFan

Why is there a game tomorrow?

This is why it takes 4 GAMES to win, not 3, and why there was a game today, as a team is not out of a series unless they lose 4 TIMES. Dallas has yet to lose 4 TIMES. It may be a mere formality until the Wings advance, it still may not be though b/c neither team has won 4 GAMES yet. I don't care if it is a mere formality, some of you really look like a bunch of arrogant morons guaranteeing this victory and having it explode right back in your face. EDIT: And nobody better come at me with the referees lost the game for the Wings. That is a cop-out excuse, and last time I checked, people here were giving Stars fans and analysts so much crap for giving "excuses" for the Stars losing. That would make us a bunch of hypocrites then. While the "interference" call was awful yes, it is a judgment call and I can't blame the referee for making a judgement call in the heat of the moment. I'm more annoyed that the play isn't reviewable so they can get the call right. Anyways, I can throw a myriad of other things that contributed to the Wings loss outside of the officiating, such as 2 hit posts, a failed 6-ON-3 opportunity, even other chances the referees gave the Wings with other power plays.

Kinda like how a fair amount of hockey players are accused of embelishing and diving and acting as well to get a penalty? Watch the hypocrisy...

Pronger Haters: Come one, Come all!

Chris Pronger: Stomper Pronger - It's Only Physics I've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for so long in terms of his "questionable" acts on the ice - even after trying to go after Yzerman's bad knee in the 2002 playoffs (I wouldn't be surprised if there was "stuff in between then and last year's playoffs) to Holmstrom's face smash in game 3 of the WCF last year, and largely b/c it amused me to a sense to see how much people in here just went absolutely nuts and apes**t over him. I always thought, "People in here are really being ridiculous, he can't be that bad." His foot stomp incident against Vancouver finally did it in for me. I will always recognize him being a solid defenseman in many aspects of the game and have little doubt he's probably a good guy off the ice and all that stuff, but I've lost plenty of respect for his "questionable" antics that he just can't seem to ignore. It took longer than others, but I've finally joined the Dark Side regarding him. :starwars:
