Good, I'm glad there are no suspensions. And everybody needs to take off their homer goggles for just a few moments. We can debate the severity or the degree of Osgood "accidentally" or "intentionally" starting stuff with the knob of his stick. The fact is he still did something to provoke Riberio. While I'll admit a "love tap" is nothing to get too worked up over, I still understand their decision to fine him. Same with Riberio. The incident happened, it's being blown way out of proportion by fans/media, let's move on. Again, I'm glad there are no suspensions, shouldn't be any excuses if the Red Wings beat the Stars due to it being to an "incomplete" roster or somebody being "suspended".

VS and NBC have exclusive broadcasting rights for both conference finals as well as the SCF.

Wonderfully stated, especially your last paragraph. It just goes to show that it is impossible to go a full game as a referee or annoucer to try to do your job like normal, without some fan base going bonkers and yelling pro-bias or anti-bias or that you are disrespecting our team or making calls against our team.
-
Because when annoucing a game for 3 hours straight, or post-analyzing a game for an hour plus, it is virtually impossible not to say something to where the other analysts, or fans can put their own spins on what somebody said and turn it into either RED WINGS *INSERT OTHER TEAM NAME HERE* ROOL, THAT ANNOUCER ROCKS, or RED WINGS *INSERT OTHER TEAM NAME HERE* DROOL, THAT ANNOUCER SUCKS. Their job is to analyze and give their opinions as well. And fans take the bait and overreact to their comments over and over and over again. People doubting the Red Wings or making excuses why the Stars lost, legit reasons or no, were bound to happen it could be seen a mile away.
-
I don't care who the opponent is, I want the Wings to win. Win win win win win. The sooner they can do it against the Stars or whoever else, the better. The Stars are more than capable of mounting a comeback.

There's a difference though. The players are usually less opinionated about things (at least on the surface) then the fans. And sometimes that can be a good thing.

If you think the broadcasting world is 100% free of bias, you must be new to it then. Broadcasters can be just as biased as fans. EDIT: Since you claim I have useless intellegence being in the South, I'll give you a few examples of what I know about hockey, even though it's not all that popular in many Southern places. Offsides results when the puck isn't the first thing to cross the defending team's blue line. Sometimes, a high-sticking penalty results in 4:00 instead of 2:00 when the player that gets hit with a high stick gets cut or draws blood. A 5-on-3 power-play is the result of the defensive or penalized team having just 3 players on the ice. Icing results when the team that has the puck shoots in from behind the center ice line and a skater from the other team cannot realistically play the puck, before the puck crosses the goal line not in the net area. I guess I have no intelligence for the game then, do I. I guess I'm just another hick hillbilly eh? Maybe I'm just a Cajun coon-ass?

I'm not reading 13 pages of analysis on this, so I apologize for re-stating opinions of others. Here's my take... No suspension. Osgood did initiate some of the situation to a certain degree. The amount of degree to what he started or whether he "intentionally" did it, we can debate that until we've lost all our hair and died, but he did start something. Honestly, it was just a "love tap" so the degree wasn't much. Ribero swung back at him as a result of what Osgood did and got penalized for it, a match penalty. Honestly, I think that's enough. I'm going to indirectly quote something from a player from the New Orleans Hornets which I have been following in the NBA playoffs pretty good. This guy got fouled really hard by a Dallas Mavericks player in the 1st round of game 4 (which the Hornets won), Jason Kidd, and some type of suspension could have been realistically handed down. He basically said that he didn't want Kidd fined or suspended, he wanted a full Mavericks lineup so there were no excuses or reasons why the Hornets could eliminate them (which they did in 5 games). He wanted their full lineup.

Here's hoping the Wings might be able take both games in Dallas to prevent a possible game 5 and give Franzen more rest.

This has got to be thread number 302362 whining about annoucers. Seriously, we get it folks. It is a broadcaster's job to talk at things in-depth for more than a minute conversation, to create controversy and somewhat uncomfortable debate in a series, and all that. I really pay little/no attention to what annoucers have to say and just watch the game, but it can't be that bad people. If you don't like 'em, hit the mute button on your TV or listen to radio broadcasts.

What exactly was happening? I had no problems watching the game on my end...

How'd you like last night's game then? Pretty physical hockey there..........

Absolutely not. Hasek is the wild card again if he'll come back next year, but if he's not back, there is absolutely no reason to not go with Osgood and Howard.

Gotta love Mr. Suit.

Meh, economy is tough, people are used to winning, things are expensive, etc. etc. etc. Same s**t different day. Nothing we haven't heard for the past 2 years. I still know this team is good, I enjoy watching them regardless of the conditions, that's more than enough for me.
-
Yeah, the Wings winning on a consistent basis and going to the conference finals for the 2nd year in a row and making a deep playoff run 2 years in a row certainly sucks doesn't it? If you don't like it, don't watch. I'd rather see the team win first.
-
I understand where you're coming from, but a lot of fans of teams would kill just to have their teams make deep playoff runs on a somewhat consistent basis, or even make the playoffs at all. I know standards for this team are high, but I'm just enjoying that this team has made another deep playoff run, for the 2nd straight year. I don't think there's any team that can say the same other than Detroit. Hopefully this time the run will be a little bit longer.

anyone else worried about the versus commercials
SouthernWingsFan replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
I don't think the VS commercials will have much effect on the game outcomes. -
All right, me's mentally and physically exhausted. I rode 31 miles on my bike today in 85 - 90 degree heat the past few hours. And on a corny joke note, what do people eat on the beach? Sandwiches.

Yeah, winning more often than not sure does suck, doesn't it? Anyways, another reason why I couldn't care less what sports analysts say. It has no effects on the outcome of the games and the like, so why waste energy getting mad at him? I just can't wait to see the next gaudy suit Cherry rolls out.

I'm tired right now, but you still see me posting in here right? No excuses!!!!!!!
