Why is it when somebody uses the phrase "I'm from the streets!" they do it to sound big and tough? Everybody has a street in front of their house or property. Even if you live in an apartment, you have to get to it from a street! I'm not a big and tough looking guy, but I still have a street in front of my townhouse. So, I guess I'm from the streets too!

Quoted for truth on the experience factor. While I'm a little surprised, and somewhat welcoming of the decision, watch out what we wish for (see Edmonton series). All it takes is a win by the Avs this evening to get them confidence, and if they win game 4, this boards will be back to overreacting panic attack threads wanting to get a new captain and trading the entire team and thinking this team is lame/finished once again before the series is even over. The Wings need not step off the gas pedal now, but don't be shocked if the Avalanche get back in this series. The Wings have flooped up in this situation before (both recovering from it and completely blowing it multiple times in recent years) and it can certainly happen again regardless of opponent/matchup.

And you know this how? You've personally interviewed Theodore or Quenville? Stalked the Avalanche locker room in Denver? While I definitely want the same thing right now, I will not be surprised one bit either if the Avs and Theodore turn it around. Every game is different and the Wings have blown leads before, it there is a realisitc chance of it still happening this series. It doesn't matter if it is 2008 or 1999 or 1776, the possibility still remains. Be careful of getting ahead of ourselves here.

The Avs still have plenty of chances and plenty of time to turn it around even if their 'tending hasn't been that good or they have injuries. That is why it is a best-of-7 series and a team has to win 4 GAMES in the series, not just two. I just find it comical that many of these same Wings fans on here who often predict doom-and-gloom think that they are untouchable now all of a sudden or that Colorado has absolutely zero chance when we all have experienced them blow series leads in recent history. You'd think many people on here (again the same ones who predict utter chaos and the sky falling when the Wings lose) would at least be aware of it to stop sounding so arrogant and cocky like Colorado is just utterly incapable. I guess not though. With all that being said, if the Wings are able to split one of these next two games, it'll be hard for the Avs to comeback, though not impossible or improbable, Boston nearly did it in the 1st round when they were almost nowhere to be found after 4 games vs. Montreal

No lie. Fans in here are so fickle it is just ridiculously humorous to me. While I am defiintely happy the way the Wings have played overall these first two games, first people have been pissing and moaning that have terrible secondary scoring and the Avalanche's forwards overall from 1-12 have better depth and could outscore Detroit any day of the week, and now all of a sudden they are dead as doornails and the Wings are demi-gods all of a sudden, even though the series still has a few games in Denver, the Wings have blown 2-0 leads before and even lost series in this fashion, etc. Very humorous indeed.

I seriously do not understand why people in here get all up in arms about Melrose or even mention in him on here anymore. 19 times out of 20 he is going to pick against the Red Wings when the opponent is halfway respectable and talented. Let's move on.

While you may be right on that and that "momentum" and "injuries" clearly favors the Wings... #7. A series isn't over until a team wins 4 GAMES, and we've seen more than 1 scenario of the Wings wiffing on a 2-0 series lead losing in 4 straight, and them doing the exact opposite in 2002. And one of those years was 1999 when the Wings played the Avs This series is far from over with.

Exactly. Too many people in here are getting way too ahead of themselves and counting their chickens before they hatch. The Wings have had more than 1 instance of (1) blowing 2-0 leads to lose a series in 6 games (Colorado, LA 2001), (2) doing the exact opposite (Vancouver 2002), and (3) blowing 2-0 leads to make the series tied after 4 games (Nashville 2004 and 2008, Calgary 2007) to where people thought the series was over, wanted a new captain, wanted to trade away half our team, and plenty of other overreactions. While both the Wings and the Stars are on good ground right now, a series doesn't end until a team wins 4 games. Neither series is remotely close to being done with yet, I don't care that the Stars are playing their next 2 games at home or that the Wings chased Theodore or the Avs have some injuries. Anything can happen. And if you beat the Stanley Cup champs and the 2nd best team in the conference (potentially) en route to the conference finals, I think that easily qualifies as a dangerous team.

It's only been 1 GAME. Don't count your chickens before they hatch in a 7 game series, especially after just 1 GAME.

Um, last time I checked it takes 4 wins to win a series and the Wings have only won the first 2 games, and the Stars have only won the first game. There's plenty of hockey left to be played in the 2ND ROUND before we should look ahead to the 3rd round. This series is far from over.

Picking up casual fans is secondary to me. I like hockey, I'm not leaving it anytime soon. I want the Wings to win, and if they can win fairly comfortably like they did today, I'll take that any day of the week.

Change of plans on my end actually. I got an offer to sit with a business acquaintance of one of my uncles from where I am from, so I am doing that and am going to be trying to sell both my original tickets. I think they sit somewhere in section 211 or 212.

Anybody CAN sweep another team, anybody CAN beat another team on any given night. I never expect sweeps these days in the NHL even though one happened last round. More often than not the separation between 1 and 8 seeds is not much, we all know Nashville and Calgary gave Detroit trouble as 8 seeds the last two years. COULD Detroit sweep Colorado? Of course. Will they, not likely. My sort of homeristic prediciton is 6 games for the Wings.

I could 2nd this, and what's scary is I might not be sarcastic about it, cause it could actually be true in a weird/twisted way.

He's not coming back anytime this season. ACL injuries take a good bit of time to recover from, and that includes rehab first and getting it stronger in the weight room.

I've actually come up from where I live in SE Louisiana up for this game and am in the area currently. Will be at the game, somwhere in section 217. I've been having problems getting somebody to use my extra ticket, somebody on here is certainly welcome to use it, $55. I'll worry about payment and all that later.
