Checkin' in. Enjoying one of my favorite things to do, drinking wine, while on vacation this past week. And in agreement with everybody else, no need to be rude about people if they look alike etc.

Got done reading The Lost Symbol recently, another one of Dan Brown's gems similar in action/adventure to his books The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. Absolutely recommend reading it. Also got done reading Sail, a book by James Patterson about a woman who was in a difficult marriage and whose husband died while they were having struggles, and she was having a hard time keeping her family/kids together. She re-married and had a family boating trip which the 2nd husband didn't go on, but insane circumstances slowly brought the family closer together. Another one definitely worth the read. Currently reading The Hostage by W.E.B. Griffin, more of a war/history author. About the wife of an American Diplomat who is kidnapped in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the President sends kinda a "Wild Card" person from the White House to help investigate. The "Wild Card" doubts himself often but does a helluva job gathering information and the like to make sure justice is served (probably about 2/5 of the way through the book so far).

Hotel floors should just not skip the 13th floor because it's bad luck. If you jump out of the hotel window from the 14th floor, you are not going to die any slower.

Just one of many endless ways you can determine who is good or bad. I wouldn't sweat it so much. I didn't look at the listing, but if the composer of this deal wrote it on them being kinda even-keeled or bland about a game, I'd agree. And I don't think being on an even-keel most times is necessarily a bad thing. I'm not one that typically likes to show much emotion, or be melodramatic or rant over and over again or carry on and on and on about something excitedly. I'll naturally react if a goal is scored by a yeah or some clapping or whatever in the heat of the moment, but move on then. I don't like carrying on unnecessarily (i.e. picture Buffalo's annoucer who goes on and on and on after goals, I forgot what his name is). I like both Ken and Mickey. They get naturally excited or show frustration in the heat of the moment but leave it at that. They are un-biased. They don't carry on all that much with emotion or pointless stories, etc.

Just a little bit! And while that may have been true of Datsyuk, at the time he still really didn't get done much when it counted most, the playoffs, and most people in here naturally were all over him for it. I was happy they re-signed him for that long and wanted him to remain on the team, but again I get where the masses were coming from back then. With Big Rig, when I first saw the salary I was a little bit surprised. I don't think he's as bad as the majority in here make him out to be. Far from my favorite, but I don't like to play the whipping boy game all that much and I thought while he showed inconsistency in the regular season, he was good in the playoffs. Not a world-beater, but servicable. I would think after a day or two of the usual heavy free-agent NHL signings hopefully people in here got a grip some and realized that while Ericsson could (not is, but could be) be overpaid, there were so many other absurd overpayments in signings as well. I remember either on July 1st or 2nd I was offline for most the day and found out about a good bit of signings on XM radio in my car on a lengthy drive and just scratched my head at the contracts offered to some people. Good for them but again, so many overpayments. And, like some have mentioned, remember Datsyuk's signing at the time. The same with Kronwall a few years ago. Both have definitely played to their contracts. Hopefully Big Rig will as well. Unfortuantely that cannot be determined as of yet just like Datsyuk's and Kronwall's deal at their respective times. And often naturally/unfortunately, people are way too knee-jerkish and want somebody's head on a stick way before things end instead of just waiting to see what else plays out. Ericsson stated he wanted to remain a Red Wing, which makes me happy. I want somebody who wants to play for this team, work for somebody, be a part of a team, whatever. Hopefully this big contract gets him to play a little more aggressively on a consistent basis. Nicely stated.

What is sad is making time and costing money to have a court case regarding something of this nature in the first place, something so miniscule to other crimes.

Nah, opens up a can of worms for more possible trouble than it's worth, more drama, etc. and that's not my cup of tea. If somebody thinks something bad of me or whatever that's their business, if I find out about it I'll probably eventually get over it or forget about it as there are other more important things to deal with. Any idea to get the Wings to the Eastern Conference is a good one. Yes, I'm selfish in this regard. *shrugs* +1 for Bettman, which is probably going to be rare.

They are a business, they are trying to make money. This is a way to make money, and it's hardly unethical or immoral or "wrong"...
