QFT. Whether people in here are joking or not about it, some are going way off the deep end here.

How can save percentage not mean anything? That is pretty much one of the main criteria a goalie is judged upon in stopping shots. If the goalie doesn't stop shots, his save percentage isn't as good. This isn't like trying to solve world hunger here...

After just 2 games? The top point-producing defensemen in the league have a difficult time getting to 70-80 points as it is in the league today. Thinking Ericsson would accomplish such a thing is extremely unrealistic I think.

Good for him. While it is definitely natural for people of any career/profession or professional athletes to work and make a living in different cities throughout their lifetimes, I respect stay pat and playing in one city/honoring one organization for all or the majority of your career. If Sundin is most happy in Toronto even if they don't make the playoffs or struggle, more power to him.

Unfortuantely sad but true. I tolerate Samuelsson on the point of the power play probably more than 95% of the members in here, but if Fedorov can point one of the two PP units, that would be a definite upgrade. I see both sides of the argument very clearly. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Fedorov back, but I don't want to give up the country of Egypt to get him. He's in his latter years and doesn't produce as much as he used to. That being said, he still has that capability to produce, esp. in the playoffs I think, and he can play both forward and defense fairly effectively. I'm not holding my breath though and losing sleep over any excitement of possibly getting Fedorov back.

Well at least there were no injuries. :beerbuddy:

Don't you think you are being a little melodramatic there? Anyways I don't think we should get our hopes up or hold our breath on McCarty playing for the Wings again. He's got a long ways to go of training/getting in NHL shape, re-emphasizing what Wings management said. Would I love to see it happen? Absolutely, but I'm not losing sleep over the excitement of McCarty possibly donning a Red Wings jersey again.

I like the catch-22s on this forum. After ONLY 2 games people want Ericsson to stay, but at the same time people are like, "Well, I don't know if Meech has what it takes to play in the NHL." I know Meech has only played roughly 25, 30 games, certainly understand and get that, but still... No, I don't have any special discontent with Ericsson or any weird man-love for Meech. All things considering in the current situation of the defense corps though, in my opinion I think he's earned himself more PT, and possibly the 8th d-man behind Meech. Meech overall has looked decent in full-duty as well. Quincey, while I like him and thought he performed well last playoffs in emergency duty, hasn't looked all that great so far recalled up this season.

Chelios has small chip in fibula, could be out a few days.
SouthernWingsFan replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
I heard from a source the Chelios will be out longer than just a few days, quite possibly 2-3 weeks. SWF4 Obviously kidding folks, just poking fun at Mr. Eklund with most of his rumors that go wrong and him being off-base on Lidstrom's injury. -
Why Can't Someone Do This to Phaneuf or Pronger?
SouthernWingsFan replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I don't want ANYBODY, whether they are from our team doing it, or any other team, performing what Domi did there. You don't sucker punch people from behind. And if anybody replies from this post that I don't want or encourage physical play, save your keystrokes because you are wrong. -
Well, I did my part today to try to get my butt in gear some more. I ran 6 miles on the treadmill in one setting, most I have ever done.

Lidstrom likely to return sooner, not later
SouthernWingsFan replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Quoted For Truth. Nelson Muntz is lauging at Eklund in regards to his "E" rumors regarding Lidstrom's status. I'm sure this isn't the first time he's mocked him either. -
I'm never one to be the panicky or freak-out type, but after last night, it is definitely getting a little bit silly. The Wings are just fortunate though they've put themselves into a position to where making the playoffs is pretty much not a threat at all, when they've been healthy for the most part, most of the season. This is just one doofus's opinion but I don't think it'll effect chemistry much at all assuming everybody's up and running healthy by late March or early April. They should all be coming back in time...

Don't even worry about them. If there's one thing I have done over the past few years with regards to sports and media, whether it is watching the Red Wings or my other favorite teams like the New Orleans Saints or my alma mater or LSU Tigers, is to not take the opinions of media and sports writers so seriously. I know the Red Wings situation right now, I know they are still a good team, I know the Flames are a good team as well capable of making noise in the playoffs. That's enough knowledge for me, why complicate things further or make myself become pissy trying to find out if other sources are disrespecting the Red Wings or whatever else. I go to sports sites now almost exclusively only for box score/AP recaps, injury statuses and the latest trade updates.

The last two games all things considered the defense has been solid. As for Meech, I think he's making a good pitch for a chance to be on the Wings long term, and given the extra time so far he's done solid overall, but like Matt Ellis' situation, assuming the defense comes back healthy soon and he's the 7th d-man again, he's on the outside looking in like most of this early season. If that happens and most of the defensive core is the same next year, he might have to find elsewhere to play professionally. I guess from my vantage point (and I'm from Louisiana so it's probably not a good one in regards to viewing hockey players and prospects overall ), I just haven't seen enough of him yet to make a fair comparison of whether he looks ready for full NHL duty yet one way or the other.

Working out just about every day is just getting difficult for me. When I work out, I usually push it pretty good. Last night I did a spinning class for nearly an hour which almost chopped my legs off, and whenever I do work out I usually run 3 miles at a good pace, sometimes try to up it to 4 miles. But with a lengthy work commute, around 75 - 80 minutes total, and with other stuff going on in my personal life/hobbies, it's just difficult to do it every day. It's mostly highway driving to a more rural area to my job, but still it takes a while. I'm more of a cardio person than a weighlifter, so I'm lucky to lift weights more than once or twice a week. I've only been working out about 3, 4 days a week now. I had a spurt where I worked out early in the morning just about every weekday around 5:00/5:30am, but that's just hard to do with my commute/sleep as well. I almost always set my alarm for 4:00am but then I hit snooze one too many times. Functioning on just 4, 5 hours of sleep is hard. I'm hoping to be in some financial good standing to possibly move into what my brother and sister-in-law's old place will be or some place comparable closer to my job sometime later this year, probably at most a 10 minute drive to work. If I do actually move, that will help me bigtime in working out nearly every day. It'll be tough to possibly leave home where it's been for almost all of my life, but I might just have to suck it up and do it since I'm happy at my job. In terms of my dieting/weight during the week more often than not, my diet almost always consists of Lean Pocket sandwiches or corn soufflee. Anything over 300 calories in a meal is bad to me. So I eat just enough to keep me filled for a day. Once a week though I almost always have to get my share of nacho chips and queso near my job. This little Mexican restaurant makes the best cheese queso on the planet (Moe's Southwest Grill). I almost always have to get my share of cheese fries once a week as well at a pub that I enjoy hanging out at. And sometimes I munch on chicken wings from this place once a week as well (Wow Cafe & Wingery). So, I guess a combination of eating light during the week and my taste buds get to me over the weekend. I think I'm pretty much stuck around 150 pounds for life given my diet and inconsistent exercising.

I hope we've come to know now that, other than having a game 7 at home, seeding means very little in the playoffs now. You don't have to look to far back in 2005-06 when Edmonton knocked the Wings out of the first round, and all the top 4 seeds were eliminated in that first round. While the perception is I'd like us to play Colorado in the first round, in the end I'd rather not pick our poision. No series is a guarantee 4-game sweep or 5-game coaster, I don't care what seed you are or how good/bad you might be in the playoffs or if you are Detroit, Dallas, Anaheim, or whoever. What can I say I'm no fun in this debate.
