To steal some quotes from a Lewis Black comedy skit to fit the situation..... "JESUS C**IST!" "GOD D**N IT!" "F**K ME!"
-
The Wings had a 6-game losing streak a few seasons ago (1999-2000 or 2000-2001) and they made the playoffs just fine. Relax, they aren't just going to snowball from the #1 to the #10 spot in a matter of a week. I highly doubt he is trade bait, but this is just one imbecile's opinion. He should be back by late regular season or playoffs me thinks.

Unless the 'tending of either of the Wings goalies just completely falls in the crapper, I don't mind them continuing to alternate and wouldn't mind seeing it for the playoffs. And no, Osgood's play hasn't completely fallen in the crapper. Until this game this afternoon, the defense overall has been terrible, hanging Osgood out to dry. Before people jump all over my a** yelling "BUT HE NEEDS TO STEAL A GAME OR MAKE THOSE BIG SAVES!", I understand that crystal clear. But I don't care how caliber of a goalie you might be or if you should just be playing in a beer league, every goalie needs help from their defense clearing rebounds and containing players on the rush etc. etc. Hasek and Osgood both seem to have a comfortable working relationship, they set whatever egos they have aside, they seem comfortable playing 50-50 right now. Keep doing that if it works. Overall, I'm not really sure how tandems playing the same amount of time roughly has worked out over the years. The only two I can recall off the top of my head, other than the Wings situation, is Roloson-Fernandez with Minnesota a few years ago, and Tugnutt-Rhodes with Ottawa back in the late 90s I think. Neither yielded a SCF or a Cup itself, but if that's the expectations, maybe we ought to get them a little more realistic as you aren't going to win the Cup every year. I think the Minnesota tandem was actually the year they went to the WCF. Ottawa got eliminated the 2nd round of the playoffs with the tandem I think.

Potatoes for dinner sounds really good right now!

People here were all over Osgood's jock strap for a majority of the year. Either Hasek or Osgood is a good choice to be the starting goaltender for the playoffs. I don't understand why people keep trying to fight this. They both work well together, they get along, they have shown this season in large spurts to be around the top of their games. I will keep saying this over and over again until people want to snap my neck in half. HASEK + OSGOOD = A SOLID GOALTENDING COMBINATION. That being said, Howard has been very solid in relief and today. He has to wait his turn until Hasek retires and with Osgood still playing a large role in Detroit over the next few years signing a contract extention, but his time being in Detroit permanently is slowly coming I think.

Overreact much? The entire team needs to wake up is what you should be saying... Anywho miller you've pretty much answered you're own question. Hasek and Osgood make a solid goaltending combo overall, even despite this 6-game losing streak which they'll snap out of. I'd love to see Howard excel at the highest level, but he has to wait his turn. And he's going to do no good rotting on the bench as a #2 or #3. He needs to play as much as possible, and Grand Rapids is the place to do that. Osgood is signed on for the next few years, so I think it's safe to assume he'll be starting or playing, at the very very least, 50-60% of a season's worth games starting next year, assuming Hasek retires. Now, call me crazy, and I am definitely a pretty big idiot, but I'd welcome a Hasek-Osgood combination again next year. They get along well, no friction between the two, and so forth. However, unless Hasek plays until he is 53 somehow (), Howard still has a future with Detroit I think. Not in a majority role over the next year or two, but his time is slowly approaching.

I want players that can help the Red Wings win. I couldn't care less if they are American, Canadian, Czech, Portugese, Nigerian, Moroccan, Kenyan, Japanese, etc. etc.
-
So if you already know that the Wings cannot win the Cup with Hasek and/or Osgood, and I think it's safe to say they will be the goaltenders for the playoffs, why are you even wasting time to watch this season then since it will already end in disappointment for you I am assuming?

We want you to stop posting in this thread. Take it for what it is, that's all.

You clearly weren't around here for the beginning of the season.
-
And you know this how?

The last part is debatable, but nobody is letting Zetterberg walk, so I hate to ruin your day.

I saw we spawn a demon as the Wings goalie, like in the old Sega Genesis game Mutant League Hockey. Again I will say this until people want to knee me in the groin... :goalie1: Osgood + :goalie2: Hasek = A Great Goaltending Tandem

How do you know the All-Star game broke his confidence? Certainly didn't look that way when he had a shutout recently after in Los Angeles. The All-Star game is a meaningless game for goaltenders. Just about every goaltender gets toyed with and it's not uncommon for the teams to score 6+ goals in the game. It's often a penalty-free, lackadasial defensive effort game. Goaltenders will always be hung out to dry in the All-Star game. And the defense for the Wings has done absoultely squat to help Osgood the past few games. I don't care what kind of goalie you are in terms of talent and what not, but every goalie in this league needs help from their offense and defense every now and then. The Wings defense hasn't even come close to helping the goaltending lately. Osgood and goaltending are far from the main problem right now.

How dare you add anything to my thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've ruined it!!!!!! It's not about the thread!!!!! It's ALL ABOUT ME!!!!!!! *Stops sarcastically complaining like a spoiled rich teenage girl*

Overreact much? Seriously though as I stop being a smart-allec, you're not going to have much company I think, esp. when one of our goalies went to the All-Star game this season and stole a fair amount of games earlier this season. And when you have two of your goalies being around the top 5 in GAA when they've both started roughly an equal amount of games. Both goalies have proven, at large portions of this season, that they are very capable starters. You should be vexing about the defense. The defense has left Osgood hung out to dry these last few games. I don't care how good or bad of a goaltender you might be (and Osgood is a good goaltender), every goaltender needs help from both his offense and his defense on occassion. The defense hasn't even come close to helping him the last few games. And why would the Wings trade Osgood when they recently signed him to a contract extension? That makes absolutely no sense. Unfortuantely I think you are wasting your efforts and keystrokes wanting to get rid of Osgood and worrying about Hasek. The Wings are going with them, and they could be in a lot worse of a situation with their goaltending.

Yes we can beat them. Any team can beat any other team on any given night. They are playing like poop right now but all teams play like rubbish at some point in the season. Not that I wanted this to happen obviously but the Wings have fortuntaely afforded themselves some cushion room to struggle. They are too good and too experience to let this be a complete train wreck. They'll be fine in time, it's not worth losing sleep over.

Great news!

2 reasons why Fedorov and McCarty will become Wings
SouthernWingsFan replied to The Enforcer's topic in General
They aren't going to come back for the Wings to play? What are they gonna do then, sell beer? Somehow, I think they wouldn't want to do that. -
I feel ya man. Winning consistently over the years yields to people being spoiled and wanting more and more and more, and when there's the slightest bit of adversity, people don't handle it well generally speaking and act like a bunch of retards. Exactly the reason why I don't talk about the Wings absolutely more than necessary because it's not worth getting heartburn over. In the end I usually just point and laugh at the people who are constantly complaining or having the constant defeatist attitude. It's like they enjoy being miserable, which is funny I think.

I highly doubt this tune has a title, but it is quite catchy! And the Two Headed Monster is the best Sesame Street character. And those are some sweet oversized headphones! I highly doubt there are earpieces that can cover the length of two heads.

Because he reports to the owners and his #1 job, in my opinion, is to first keep the owners happy. A majority of the owners have been happy. Hence, him still having a job.
