Get well soon Mickey!

I don't care if I get reamed for saying this, but some of you seriously are acting like little s**ts towards Samuelsson because of this incident. No one in here would be saying squat towards Lidstrom or Rafalski or anybody else if they shot this puck. I understand being upset that Cleary is injured, but Samuelsson does not deserve this treatment for this incident. Grow up.

Mary J Blige - Just Fine

Yep, b/c he was obviously intending to injure him right?
-
Telling people to not panic in here is like talking to air or a brick wall unfortunately. Take your pick of which is least effective.

Magnificently put.

Kinda disappointing, but what can ya do, 1-goal lead is never safe, even late. Kudos for Toskala for stealing a game, in my opinion, that the Red Wings were slowly starting to take over around the midway part of the game. And I'll say the same thing I say a million times for Hasek. One may not like him personally or his style of play. His style of play may not work for any other goaltender in the NHL, or anywhere. But the style works for Hasek and has helped him win plenty in the past, and that is the style he knows best to win. He's not going to change it anytime soon. Largely referencing this to the OT goal. Blaming this lose solely on him is idiotic. Give more credit to Toskala for keeping his team in it and the Maple Leafs responding just in the nick of time. Take the point and move on to tomorrow. This team is making the playoffs so there's no real point in getting too upset about this loss or losing two in a row. They have plenty of time to tune up and work on things until April.

There's a good chance Lang won't be back in Detroit. Strong gut feeling. SouthernWingsFan 10 (in honor of Eklund ) EDIT: Seriously, Lang did score some big goals for the Wings, but it was kinda easy to tell I think as last season went on, he and Coach Babcock or the organization just didn't see things eye-to-eye in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't have minded having him back at a reduced price, but he definitely didn't live up to his $3.8M tag OVERALL (again I realize he scored some big ones for us).

Messed up his jaw. Not sure yet how bad it is or if he has to miss time. I bet though, and this is just one dumb schmuck's opinion, no sources/links or whatever, that if he can play with the injury, he'll probably have to wear a full cage.
-
Would definitely not mind seeing him back, (1) b/c of what he's done for the Wings in the past obviously and (2) so people can stop talking about OMG WE NEED FEDOROV BACK!
-
*sigh* Don't encourage him...
-
Magnificently put on Samuelsson and on Wings fans.

While I don't believe in jinxes and am not all that superstitious... Last night they kinda made a boo-boo on the way to 10...
-
Wow, talk about some overephatic and overdramatic posts in this thread. Lilja and Lidstrom-like plays shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence together, but to say he is pathetic is going way off the deep end of the emotional scale as well. Good perspective F. Michael.

Well what if they are unsure that they can sign him, but think there is still a possibility to sign him after the trade deadline has past? Kinda too late then...

QFT. I take those comments with a grain of salt since nobody really wins nowadays by 6-7 goals consistently, if barely ever in a season, and scoring isn't the same as it was back in the 80s/early 90s Overall this season, the Wings have kicked a** so far for the most part and it would be foolish to say they are not a serious contender for the Stanley Cup. But to hand them the keys to the Stanley Cup Finals automatically is foolish as well. (1) They kicked a** in 95-96 with 62 wins and didn't win the WC Playoffs. (2) Every series/situation is unique but these past few years, not just with Detroit being upset early, but overall there is so much parity from seeds 1-8 in both conferences for the most part, that very few series are cakewalks anymore. Anything can happen in a 7-game series if an "underdog" team gets hot all of a sudden or has the right chemistry. I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, just being somewhat realistic while optimistic that the Wings will go deep in the playoffs because they've been doing magnificent so far.

Pretty much how I feel about fighting more/less, especially your last sentence quoted. I like most 1-on-1 fights in hockey just like anybody else, but fighting in here to me, generally speaking, is really overhyped. I don't drool or do cartwheels when a fight actually happens. I get just as excited to see a scrap more/less compared to a penalty shot, nifty stick handling for a goal, a glove save on a point-blank shot, etc. Basically, no one thing about hockey over-excites me or keeps me just dead silent.

As has been stated, we are fortunate that the Wings are one of the most popular teams in the league, hence not really having to worry about missing them if they weren't on Versus or NBC. NHL Center Ice though, correct me if I am wrong, broadcasts games on local affiliates (assuming they aren't on NBC or Versus) through the 2nd round of the playoffs.
-
Damn it Hasek you are too old and flop around too much! Wings need more grit and hitting! Stop hitting the middle of the bullseye Samuelsson! Trade Lilja! Wings are pansies! Oh no wait, that's the sarcastic obnoxious overreaction when we lose (oh so close).
-
Don't really know, don't really care. There is so much parity and every team when you make the playoffs is dangerous. There are probably not going to be any series that will be a cakewalk. Hence me not really giving a hoot who the Wings play in the first round, as it will probably be difficult regardless of the opponent.
-
No thanks even though I know this thread was made as a joke.
-
How do you know they won't make the playoffs? Unless you are the Kings where it looks to be nearly impossible to get back in unless you play flawless hockey, nobody can be counted out. Just about every team (minus Los Angeles, and to a lesser extent Edmonton and Chicago) has a shot at the playoffs in the WC.

You have a news link/source for that, because I've heard or read zilch on it. Not trying to dog on you (sorry if it sounds like I am doing that) as we can all analyze and speculate on anything/everything, but again this would be brand new happenings to me. I highly doubt we will lose him to a trade.

Versus schedule, Mon and Tue nights only. Why?
SouthernWingsFan replied to Icteria virens's topic in General
If you are asking about something more "identifiable" or "mainstream", Versus broadcasts college football games within the Big 12, Pac 10, and Moutain West conferences in-season. They also broadcast a limited amount of college basketball games as well, mainly from the Mountain West.
