Well, I have been called that on many occassions by people, so I'm unfortunately starting to think it's actually true.

Seriously people, do we realy care that badly that they are considered Cup favorites from ONE SOURCE OUT OF MANY? It's called a prediction guys and gals, I don't know why everybody is getting all worked up about this when predictions have absolutely little/no effect on what actually happens during the sesaon.

To re-emphasize the answer to the last question for people not from Detroit/Michigan perhaps or new to the board, yes. And we all know why. I know there are times when JLA seems real quiet (and this has been debated/beaten to death with 50 2x4's so I'd rather not get into it), but I can guarantee you if the Wings won the Cup this past season, attendance at the planned parade would have been huge. It just sucks that the overall economy is not doing good and ticket prices in the playoffs after the first round were out the wazoo. Support, from a moral/mental standpoint, is still extremely high for this organization.

The Mountain West has a TV deal with a network designed solely to broacast their games. Coincidentally, the network is called "The Mountain". The MWC also had a few games here and there on Versus, and that was the first time Versus got into broadcasting college football games. Versus has also expanded a bit, broadcasting a few Pac-10 and Big 12 games this year. The Mountain/football on Versus debuted last season and for whateover reason, there werent any games on ESPN/ABC (not including bowl games). FSN might broadcast a few Mountain West games, but very few. While I definitely hold no animositiy towards Versus like a lot of members do in here, and I'll pretty much go to most lengths to watch my team play (I have Versus on extended cable at home, order most other games online and watch live online), appreciate that at least in your scenario the games are still going to be on ESPN. Versus/The Mountain did a fine job broadcasting games their first round last year, but if its b/w Versus and ESPN, the choice is obvious...

Does anybody in this country take responsibility for themselves anymore and consider the risks of doing certain things? Maybe I should just intentionally drive my car in the lake and sue Toyota b/c my foot was superglued to the pedal. Pretty sad how you can pretty much sue anybody for almost anything nowadays.

As impressed as I was with LSU dominating Virginia Tech, I'm really getting tired of people down here handing them the keys to the National Championship after just week 2. There's still 10 games to play, plus the SEC Championship, assuming they get there. Let's keep our pants on. I was encouraged though that their offense moved the ball against a solid defense just about every series. Wish my school didn't run out of gas against UT. Not surprised we lost a 10-0 halftime lead though. We were playing at Texas and McCoy and their offense were going to start meshing eventually. It was 17-10 eventually during the 4th quarter. After TCU bobbled a punt and they went up 27-10 in the 4th after that error, it was all but over then. With TCU's starting running back (who was pre-season confernece player of the year) injured and a redshirt freshman QB making just his second start, and first one on the road in a bigtime stadium and team, that's just too much to overcome. The QB didn't stink by any stretch of the imagination, but that's just an overwhelming situation to be in. A lot of the big non-BCS teams screwed the pooch last week (TCU, Boise State @ Washington, BYU @ UCLA, Hawaii nearly goofed against LA TECH), but I still think my school has a chance, albeit a very narrow one to get into BCS. They'd have to win out and win the conference and we'll see what happens. Despite losing by 21, the game was much closer until about 3/4 of the 4th qtr was done. Boise State might be in the same realm even after their loss, but it'd be much more difficult. I just don't know about their schedule. Not to say that the Mountain West schedule is "that much tougher" than the WAC, the WAC certainly has some decent teams, but from an overall perspective (not just 1 or 2 really good teams), the Mountain West has a little better play/teams. Hence me thinking my school still has somewhat of a small chance if they keep winning. And I've seen us put long win streaks together these past 2 seasons. 10 in a row after a bad loss early in 2005, and 8 wins to close the season out last year after losing 2 in a row to be at 3-2 at one point. It's going to be very tough if not close to impossible, but it can still happen. Hawaii, I just don't think they'll get in because of their crappy schedule outside the conference. Washington I can give them some kudos on. But UNLV? Northern Colorado? Charleston Southern? Come on now...

I'm definitely happy for what Miles has been able to do so far down here at LSU, in spite of the obnoxiousl fanbase that LSU has overall. He went 11-2 his first year at LSU in '05 dealing with all the distractions from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and followed up another 11-2 season last year with a dominating Sugar Bowl win. And fans were still bitching that he didn't win a National Championship last season. 11-2 with all 4 of your road games against top-10 teams at the time is no simple task. Basically, he's had the best start of an LSU coach, but people still ***** b/c he hasn't won a National Championship yet and he's not Nick Saban (before Saban went to Alabama ). Pretty pitiful. I hope like crazy that he's able to beat Saban and Alabama this year so I won't have to hear LSU fans act like lunatics for the wrong reasons. And if he decides to go up to Michigan to coach (not saying it's inevitable and I haven't heard rumors etc.), no grudges held whatsoever on my end. It's a place that he holds special to him, if he ends up there in the near-future, he deserves it.

They still lost though... Was a bit disappointing that we blew a 10-0 halftime lead, but winning at Texas was going to be damned hard, and I wasn't getting my hopes up too high or "guaranteeing" a victory, so I wasn't all that surprised or shocked. Game was still fun to attend live. At least LSU kicked a lot of tail against Virginia Tech and I had a blast for the most part the rest of the weekend. EDIT: As being an outsider to the Michigan hoopla, this is just stunning to me, them going 0-2 to start. I know, to an extent I think, that defense is in question dealing with speed and the like, but is there anything else? I'm not trying to post like Michigan can "ever" lose, but this 0-2 start for them just didn't seem thinkable before the season started. The only comparison I can think of is an LSU team in the mid 90s. They were really in the crapper in the late 80s/early 90s, but eventually got their groove back and into the top-25 in the mid-90s, and expectations got high again. And with a supposedly deep offensive team and a decent defense, they flooped one of those years to a 4-7 record, and nobody could really logically explain why after they got good again...

Who in the NHL is just paid over $1M and can guarantee you around a 20-goal season. I know Samuelsson is not a fan-favorite on here and I'm definitely no spokesperson/agent for him but the ripping he gets on here is a little bit ridiculous at time. He's not counted on to be the main scorer, he was better than Jason Williams ever was on the point of the PP and didn't turn the puck over anywhere nearly as much as him, and the only reason he was on the point to begin with was due to injuries on defense. He's not a steal in terms of salary but he's not overpaid by any stretch of the imagination. How would you, me, or anybody else in here know this? The season hasn't even started yet... You would think more people would use basic logic like this when it's obvious, but of course it rarely happens... Again, how do we know how bad they are before the season even starts? If those lines don't work, then Babcock will change them.....

Steroids? Please tell me you aren't serious. You aware of some of the side effects of steroids? Rage side effects, loss of hair, coughing up blood, shriveling up of the groin area. None of those pills are worth any trouble for LONG TERM HEALTH just to experience short-term benefits. And the long term health implications are probbably going to be MUCH WORSE than any short-term results.

Again, that sounds very, very unhealthy. I was fairly overweight years ago and lost close to 40 pounds to the low 140s without taking any supplements, any formal diet rules, nothing. Just my own exercise routines and a better sense of dieting. When you are young, and male, you can lose weight easier than if you are older. And I had absolutely no sense in my eating habits before I lost all that weight. None. You don't need any pills, medicine, or any of that junk. Take the advice of somebody who has shredded a lot of pounds in a short amount of time while he was (and still is) a young adult.

Rafalski. And seriously people, why the hell are so many getting so upset about this. It's a PREDICTION. Nothing more/nothing less. What is he supposed to do, be a Red Wings homer and say we're gonna finish with 125 points and go to the Stanley Cup Finals? Let's all calm down here. It's hard to duplicate 110+ points on a consistent basis season by season. And notice that he only said SLIGHTLY WORSE. That doesn't mean this team is just going to miss the playoffs or get swept in the first round all of a sudden after playing very well last playoffs. If the tea, might only be slightly worse in a prediction, after a 113 point season and nearly making it to the SCF, I'd say the team is still pretty damned good and should contend for the Stanley Cup still. I swear, if anyone even mentions ESPN, it's like Satan has appeared in LGW and people just automatically think it's evil or it sucks without giving any logical reasons why.
