Seriously, that doesn't sound healthy looking at all. In terms of body fat, a "normal weighted" person has a body mass index, or body fat percentage, of around 18.5% to 25%. I'm only 5'7" and weight just over 145 pounds. It wouldn't hurt for me to lose a few more pounds, but I am far from looking overweight or fat. My body mass/fat index is around 23% acorrding to health charts, and I look fairly slender. I'm betting it's around 20%. You'd never mistaken me for a body builder, but I have about a medium build even with that BMI. Again, I can lose a few more pounds, but I'm pretty content with how my figure looks. My BMI is in a healthy weight range.

I hate scheduling I-AA schools. Not because they are to be "disrespected", but you know I-AA schools play at most 1, 2 I-A school's a year, if they are lucky to schedule any. You know they are going to be jacked up for that game most. In the 5 years I was at TCU, we only scheduled 1 I-AA team, in 2001. And you know what? Despite TCU being very solid more often than not since the late 90s, we lost that game. We played Northwestern State (located in central Louisiana) who usually a pretty respectable program. And, coincidentally, we lost that game due to a blocked FG that ended the game. We played another I-AA team last season, California-Davis, who is also normally solid in I-AA and hasn't had a losing season in a good while if I'm not mistaken. It took a while but we took care of business against them, winning by 33. UC-Davis was definitely hyped up for that game. We play Stephen F. Austin (East Central Texas location) next season or in 2009, which I'm not all that excited about. Very little good comes out of such games. EDIT: Some other I-AA victories over I-A schools that I can think off in recent memory were Delaware over Navy a few seasons ago, Nicholls State (south central Louisiana area) over Rice this past weekend actually, and Maine over Mississippi St. a few seasons ago. Navy still made a bowl game that season, and while you wouldn't think of Rice in initial coversations, they made their first bowl game in forever last season, so you think that loss had to really sting for them. Mississppi State has just been in the crapper over the past few years. -

That's pretty sweet progress BRTD. When I lost a good chunk of weight years ago, no supplements or anything for me either. No formal diet rules either, just my own things and sacraficies. As for now, I'm not really worried all that much about losing a few more pounds. I'm consistently hovering anywhere between 145 - 150 pounds at 5'7", which I'm pretty much accepting now and is fine with me as long as I continue to exercise just about every day, that way I can continue to get away with eating "bad food" once every now and then.

While I don't have the Big 10 Network or watched the game living way way south of the area, here's my thoughts from seeing post-game highlights... - I take the middle ground in terms of the fluke. While I think they'll still take care of business in a lot of their games this year, that game exposed, from the limited highlights that I saw, that the defense has plenty of work to do on short/mid-range passes like slants/WR screens. Defense is suspectible. Offense should be fine. - Will they "suck" and lose the majority of their games? Absolutely not. The overreaction/drama time from fans is done with and over. While nobody will ever forget this game, it's calmer times now and they'll get back on track. - It's not a stretch to say that Michigan might be an "average" team if their defense doesn't solve the passing game as I stated above. Too early to tell though after 1 game. - Appalachian State has always been a solid program despite being I-AA and winning the last 2 National Championships in I-AA. Regardless, not an excuse as there was no logical reason for Michigan not to win this by at least 25. Appalachian State played the game of their life, and they will still continue to be good, but to think they'll win every game 50-0 and go undefeated, just because of this win, is just as unrealistic as thinking Michigan is just going to completely "suck" now b/c of this loss. -
Bum as in what? Not getting injured? If that's the case, then all right, but his play is far from being a bum. What will he do then? Why do you have such a high and extreme bias against Hudler?

2007 College Football Season Talk

And if people think I don't get what having National Championship expectations are, I do understand, or at least I think I do despite coming from a smaller school. I live in a place close to a school where many people are already handing LSU the keys to the Nattional Championship game, despite a QB (who while is pretty good) needs a lot more work still, and hasn't even played Virginia Tech, Florida, Arkansas, and at Alabama yet. I like LSU a lot, I will rarely miss a game, but the talk and hoopla down here is so over the top and just about every LSU fan is obnoxious thinking their team is going to win it all and thinking the SEC and their teams is the greatest thing since the Roman Empire. It's the same thing with the New Orleans Saints right now as well. I'm exaggerating a little bit, but you see where I'm getting at... And I don't want this to turn into an SEC vs. Big 10 vs. Big 12 vs. any conference debate. The SEC is certainly good, the Big 10 is also a helluva conference, etc. etc. I certainly get and understand expectations and the talk, especially from down here. And honestly, I wish people down in my neck of the woods would just shut the f**k up sometimes about it and not get ahead of themselves. I get it indeed. My parents treated me to dinner Friday night for my b'day and we struck a conversation up about two of their good friends, and it eventually led to how "it might be their last chance to see an undefeated LSU team beat Arkansas over Thanksgiving". I swear, if I saw their friends that night, I would've strangled them. The talk is absolutely insane sometimes. -

'Twas the analyst's comments, not mine, and he pretty much already stated that their national championship hopes are all but flushed down the toilet, which I am in 100% agreement with, so there's nothing new there. And as people in here might think I have drain bamage for this upcoming statement, the season is not completely lost. I know the loss will sting, and sting big, and will never go away. But winning the Big 10 and beating OSU means they get into the BCS if I'm not mistaken. I know you got to think big and as high as you can, and I know I attended a school with slim/no chance to win a National Championship, but there are still several goals that are attainable to make a great season. -

An analyst from CollegeFootballNews.com....a pretty damned good football source that I check out just about everyday... Fear not Michigan fans... http://cfn.scout.com/2/675156.html Texas almost did the same thing Saturday, only beating Arkansas State 21-13 and needing to recover an onsides kick late to seal the deal. Gives me some hope when my school faces them this upcoming weekend. Regardless, UT will probably be at least a 15-point favorite. -

Good start for my alma mater. Wasn't really that pretty or entertaining, but they put a good business-like performance shutting out Baylor 27-0. I'll take it. Defense played very well despite not having their best stud Tommy Blake, although they were helped out by Baylor missing two short dinky field goals. TCU had a new QB to groom in his first ever start, and other than fumbling once around the goaline early, he played very well, completeing about 60% of his passes and about 200 yards. Can't wait to be in Austin next weekend for our game at Texas. We have an outside chance of winning, but I'm not expecting a win. If we do though somehow, I will be doing backflips. This Cal-Tennessee game has been pretty damn entertaining so far. -

Go Cowboys! Straight from Lake Charles in SW Louisiana! Shocked I am at this development. Just as shocked when my school lost to a I-AA program, Northwestern State from central Louisiana in 2001. Coincidentally, it was also to a blocked FG to win the game as well. Northwestern State's also a respectable I-AA program, but not close to App. State's level and I don't think they've won a championship there in the I-AA level. While I didn't think we were going to win that game by 45, NSU wasn't going to just roll over and die, there was no logical reason we should have lost that game. -
I was assuming Quincey was going to be back in the minors there. Guess my lingo was f'ed up to read, like usual.
-
Flipper, my favorite player in Holmstrom, and if he isn't in the minors for most of the season due to Meech having to clear waivers etc., I'd like to see a little more of Quincey, and see if he can build off a fairly solid showing in the playoffs.

I am wandering the same thing. I got VA Tech-ECU on and it's halftime and just saw highlights and now 28-14! Appalachian State is no pushover despite being I-AA and it's a season opener, but still.... -

And #2 LSU is running away with this one in the 4th quarter against Miss. St. 45-0. Kinda a deceiving score as it was "only" 3-0 after 1 quarter and State's defense was played damned good and hard. LSU was grooming a new QB more/less to an extent, but when the opposing team's QB throws 6 interceptions, that leads to a short field more often than not. If not for MSU's defense tihs game, it could easily be something like 63, 70-0. I think with JaMarcus Russell, LSUs former QB and #1 draft pick being so damned good, as well as beating Notre Dame pretty good in the Sugar Bowl last year, got them the #2 ranking. I'm not sold on it yet. 45 points, but as stated, 6 INTs plus a fumble recovery, so the offense is still a work in progress. I'd rank them more around 7-9 right now. -
More of a general comparison, you hate player ABC or XYZ b/c he's with another team or something bad that he did with another team, but if he plays for your team, you soften your stance a bit.

And conversely, if Forsberg hypothetically signed with the Wings and did well, I think it's a safe bet people would be drooling and going ga-ga over him, in spite of the "history" with the Avalanche. Not a lot of people were fond of Bertuzzi for obvious reasons (don't want to get into the debate on how wrong he is or him vs. Moore etc.), but whatever biterness most people had with, or still might have with, Bertuzzi was put aside when he put a Wings jersey on.
