But he knows a helluva lot more to this business than you, me, or anybody else in here, and people in here go way off the deep end when he doesn't make a move for player ABC or XYZ every single time, especially when, in all likelihood, getting player ABC and XYZ isn't all that high of a priority. You know that. Wanting fighting in here, when it's not the #1 prioirty, is as overhyped in here as the NFL preseason.

Of the players whose contracts expire in either 08 or 09, which ONE top 6 winger and ONE top 4 Dman (both in the 3M-5M range) and which ONE bottom six player (less than 2M) would you like to see the Red Wings sign? Don't know off the top of my head, don't really have the time to pay attention to those kinda things.

If you are basing that off a majority of one's career, that's pretty unrealistic. You have to be extremely durable AND EXTREMELY LUCKY to not have major injuries throughout your career other than a nik/bruise every now and then. Larry Murphy is a decent example of this, but he wasn't all that aggressive of a hitter or physical player, but he was able to play a very long career around 100% health.

Both the hit and the goal.... incredibly sickening in a good way. In terms of Markov, he's just trying to find the best deal possible for himself, understandably so. I don't really keep up with player rumors in here like others, but I haven't heard any rumblings that he's seriously considering playing overseas or anything, but I could be wrong as I have little crediblity. I hope he returns to the Wings. As good as Lilja was late season and in the playoffs, and as good as Quincey MIGHT be in a few years, RIGHT NOW I'd take Markov over those two without much hesitation. And with all due respect to Meech, to pick a guy who has played ONLY 4 NHL games over an experienced d-man like Markov who has had a respectable career is just ludicrous. I know we want to see young guys play, but let's get serious here. People in here moan and complain all the time that the Wings aren't "physical". Markov provides this quality fairly well, and people don't want him to return to the Wings. Sometimes people make absolutely zero sense in here. Holland knows what he's doing and isn't going to budge much higher than Markov's salary last year IMO. I hope Markov will lower his demands in time and return to the Wings. All is not lost if he doesn't return though.

Yes he is worth it. Check the Holland thread where he says probably got Datsyuk at a bargain, even though he makes a ridiculous amount of cash. Same kinda scenario with Lidstrom more/less, if you focus on the $$$. If Lidstrom signed somewhere else (a huge hypothetical, isn't going to happen and I'm not suggesting it happens), another GM would offer him the leauge max. He'd probably make more somewhere ekse, even more now.

Because it's funny to see people in here overreact about it and about Holland over and over again, when in my honest opinion, those things aren't as big a part of the game as some make it out to be in here. If an enforcer is a major reason why the Wings have been making the playoffs and winning a few Cups in a 10+ years, then talk to me. If the Wings continually screwed the pooch season after season and missed the playoffs, and an enfrocer is a major reason for getting them to the playoffs to contend for the Stanley Cup, then I'd understand the continuous need. Enforcers/fighting lose their value pretty quickly in the playoffs, where it matters most.

I don't care how skinny or fat somebody might be, skipping breakfast is a no-no. Also, what's helped me recently is I'm paying attention to my calorie intake of food a lot more. Big key to slimming down is if you are able to burn off the calories after eating a big breakfast or lunch, for example, and then some more. Everyday day for either lunch or dinner, it's usually light, probably no more than a meal with 300 calories or so, so I'm usually able to burn most/all of that off my next workout by running a few miles really quick.

Wouldn't put them any higher than that. Our defense is sick enough to carry the team right now. We have a very solid RB who was picked conference pre-season player of the year, hopefully he can be solid early on while we groom a new QB. If those two things fall into place early and whoever TCU's new QB is and can get going soon after, we should be ranked all season I think.

Lebda would have to clear waivers I'm assuming as well, probably not a wise idea for the Wings to do b/c he could be snatched up by another team then with the Wings getting anything in return. Not that I am hinting that it is going to happen/suggesting that Lebda get sent down... Quincey wouldn't have to clear waivers I think. Either Quincey is going to get full PT up with the Wings as a #5/#6 defenseman or down in Grand Rapids as a #1/#2. It's silly to scratch him as a #7/#8 d-man right now when he's got to develop and get more experience. Not sure if Meech has that "luxury" of not having to clear waivers to go to the minors or not.

I'm doing really good right now in terms of the fit/weight. Last night was the first time I touched any form of fried food in a week, and I've worked out and done a good bit of running/cardio every day since Sunday I think, minus Thursday, and I'm down to about 147, 148 pounds. By the end of this month I want to consistently get as close to 145 as possible. Personally, I'm really getting tired of how fried food tastes. Not so much that I should say. Fried food usually tastes good, but I finally 'get' that it's bad for me, and there's enough other types of food that I'm sinking my teeth in now more consistently that are better for you health wise that I enjoy (i.e. salads, grilled chicken, chicken salad, grilled sandwiches, pasta, etc.). I've all but given up eating hamburgers at a lot of beef, I'm close to doing that on the fried food side, and I don't eat pizza all that much anymore. S**t, I'm becoming a vegetarian almost!

Eastern time zone please, I wake up normally around 4:00 - 4:30am, I fought so much damn sleep during those West Coast playoff games. I fell asleep for both of the Wings OT winners in the playoffs! Actually, if the Wings were in the EC, I wouldn't have been able to seen them as much, or maybe not at all, when I was living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area from 99-04 while in college. That is pretty cool to see how much distance WC teams usually have to travel. And, I don't really try to have a strong opinion over a lot of things involved with hockey or the NHL, but for the love of god 8 games against any team is too many, I don't care who it is or how much of a rivalry a matchup might be.

As I think I stated in this thread, or a similar one...for me personally I could care less what station NHL games are being played on, I just want to see them somewhere. I don't care as much about commentary/discussion as seeing the action on the ice. VS has done a very solid job, minus an extremely rocky start in the first season, showing NHL games. Pretty dedicated to broadcasts, especially during the playoffs. VS also started broadcasting college football games last season in the Mountain West Conference, and a few basketball games as well, and they did a solid job there as well. That being said though, I'm all for hockey being brought back to ESPN, if it can be done. If not, I won't cry over spilled milk, I'll still find ways to watch it.
