Eklund does a lot of when he posts rumors I think. I barely take what he says seriously, because he rumors so many things and just reports stuff out of left field. He'll be right every now and then, but just reports so much weird things that it's hard to take him serious. What is funnier though is that you'll continue to see threads in here about him posting a rumor about player ABC or XYZ possibly going to a destination, and people here just tear the thread to shreads. And members here STILL make at least 100 different threads on Eklund rumors throughout the course of a season. If he has little/no credibility, why post anything about his rumors at all? Doesn't make too much sense to me. But then again, I don't make sense and am a weird and unnormal person, so...

Manifest destiny? I'm certainly not understanding what you are trying to imply there... Anyways, good that hockey looks to be staying in Nashville. I know I know, hockey isn't going to ever be all that popular in a lot of Souther placss, I know that and am fine with that. I am happy though living in the Sun Belt/Gulf Coast that this is a victory for Nashville. Hopefully their fans can continue to back up their support and more corporate companies and sponsors step up to the plate to keep this franchise in Tennessee for years to come.

Motown is the town for sports in 2007
SouthernWingsFan replied to SuperCalaFilppulastic!'s topic in General
Woot, my town is 35th! I went to TCU and lived in Fort Worth for 5 years. Fort Worth had a minor league hockey team which drew average attendance, and they currently have minor league baseball and basketball teams. TCU could be classified as their "home team", but from my time that I went there from 1999-2004 and up to this past season, they've only sold out a 44,000 stadium once, only drawn over 40,000 two other times I think, and a crowd over 30,000 is considered good for football. This, despite the fact that they've finished with back-to-back 11-win seasons, 4 10-win seasons out of the last 5, and going to a bowl game every year since 1998 (other than 2004 season). There's just so many sporting options in the Dallas-Arlington-Fort Worth area that 9 out of 10 casual sports fans with little/no ties to TCU are going to be hard-convinced to attend a game there. Some good some bad. Here's a laundry list... Dallas Stars Dallas Cowboys Dallas Mavericks Dallas Desperados (AFL) Texas Rangers FC Dallas Burn (MLS) TCU SMU UT-Arlington UT-Dallas North Texas Fort Worth Cats (minor league baseball) Fort Worth Flyers (minor league basketball) And I don't think that's everybody. I know I'm stretching it pretty thin and reaching, but you see the point... And I will be traveling to #22 on the list, Salt Lake City - Provo, in November, going to a game at BYU in Provo. I cannot wait. -
Tie b/w Konstantinov and Fedorov IMO.
-
Damn, if I put in a nickel for every Fedorov thread that has been created, I'd be rich. Anyways, no Fedorov is not washed up. He's obviously not the player he was in the late 90s/early 00s, age gets the best of anybody I don't care who you are, but he can still thrive on a 2nd line role, and I've actually seen him play defense live in a game at Dallas in 2003 I think. Was paired with Chelios and he didn't miss much of a beat.

Insert overdramatized ESPN sucks post b/c they don't pay attention to hockey enough *HERE* As for me personally, I could care less what station games are being broadcasted on, as long as they are broadcasted somewhere. Hell, Game Show Network, Cartoon Network, I don't care. I like the coverage on Versus. They've given hockey a lot of more personalized attention than ESPN in recent years, showing hockey movies at times, etc. While I don't really pay much attention to commentary during games and the like, I just watch the games for the action on the ice, they haven't seemed to be doing bad at all. If the NHL can get back on ESPN though, do it. More availble viewing audience, etc. etc., as much good as Versus has been to the NHL these last 2 seasons. Why not? What's wrong with Versus?

Slim and none in my honest uneducated opinion.

Good grief, by some of the posts in here in seems like Smyth is no better than a pee-wee hockey player. Again, Holmstrom being so good at what he does shouldn't take away how good of a player Smyth is, and vice versa.

What does Forsberg being Swedish have to do with anything?

Real classy there.

Midsummer report cards: Central Division
SouthernWingsFan replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Actually, St. Louis had the better record of the series against Detroit this past season, 4-3-1 I believe. And they finished right around .500 this past season, great for them considering they were in the sh**ter the year before. They have definitely improved their roster for the upcoming season. While it would be an incredible stretch to call them Cup contenders, I could see them contending for a lower playoff seed this upcoming season. If that happens, who knows then... (see Edmonton #8 seed 2 seasons ago) -
How so? While this is to be expected on any sports forum, I certainly agree with you on this to a certain extent.

I try to take up for Samuelsson since he's usually one of the whipping boys in here. Is he a streaky scorer I think? Yes. Is he the #1 option to play the point on the PP? No, but with the injuries that mounted up, I think he held his own with that responsibility fairly well. He's never going to be the #1 scorer on the team, but I think he's found an identity with the Wings as decent 2nd/3rd liner who can be counted on for around 15 - 20 for a season if he's healthy. He has decent size and while he isn't going to strike fear in anybody physically, he isn't afraid to throw his body around when the situation presents itself. As for Franzen, same type of player in terms of offensive production. Probably around 15 a year, and I think we're starting to see him develop a game similar to Draper or Maltby in their younger years here. If we're going to use the term 'unsung heroes' in the playoffs for the Wings this past season, Franzen would be one of them. He was really aggresive physically and was pretty dangerous offensively at times, especially the Calgary series.

Smyth is as good as advertised. Holmstrom is as good as advertised. Smyth being as good as he is doesn't take away from Holmstrom's game, and vice versa. I'd go with your roomate on this one.
-
And to put in my contribution to this thread other than being a smart-allec, if it came down to these two at the trade deadline, I'd go with Fedorov. A bit less injury prone as both are in the latter stages of their careers, etc. etc. When healthy, both of these guys can still bring it without question. I just don't see Forsberg staying healthy though, but if he can prove me wrong, good for him. Fedorov gets the slight edge here, but I'm not anticipating either of these guys wearing red and white anytime this season.

With that I pose one the more famous annoying LGW questions? You have a link/source for that?

All right help me out here... Why, on Press Your Luck, do people yell "STOP!" when yelling that does nothing to stop the spinning board, while hitting the button does the job just fine? Doesn't make sense to me... *shrugs*
