2007 College Football Season Talk
SouthernWingsFan replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in Other Sports
Expectations are too high for my alma mater at TCU right now. I love how we've become one of the standard bearers for non-BCS teams, at least I think, in recent years, but I think it's spoiling a lot of people. I mean I'm reading we have an outside chance at the National Championship if we win at UT early this year even before any conference play starts in the Mountain West. I'm far from a doom-and-gloomer type and I'd love for that to happen, but let's get real here. While I think we should be favored to win that conference, BYU still should be strong after their 11-2 year last year, and Utah should have a potent offense and be in the thick of things as well. While our defense should be ridiculously fast again, they are suspectible to a big play every now and then. And my school needs a new starting QB to step up and get wide receiver depth, as there's only one who's pretty proven (and he gets a case of the dropsies a lot). -

QFT and spot on. Look, Fedorov's heart/desire has been questioned obviously time and time again in here and everywhere, but throughout his career he's been one of the more talented players out there, espeically during his prime. There is little doubt he has/had more talent than Yzerman, but that's no knock on Yzerman obviously, hence me quoting ARice with Yzerman being the most important player to the Red Wings during his career without much question.

I don't like it. The Sharks have had some of the best jerseys in the league in recent years, I don't want them to change it. The teal/silver/black coloring (normal home jerseys) are awesome currently.

The Wings already have too many players who are small, it overloaded the Web site. /end sarcasm

Where is a tattle's tail? What is the capitol of Wyoming? Is it Cheyenne, or is it 'W'?

I haven't read any responses so forgive me for repeating anything... Lebda right now. I don't think he'll ever be your #1 or #2 d-man, but I think he's proven that he's fit for full-time NHL duty. On a team with less defensemen depth than Detroit, he might be on a consistent 2nd line d-pairing (in terms of minutes played). We all know that Quincey has potential, and who knows, maybe in 3-5 seasons, Qunicey will be better than Lebda, for sakes of debating in this thread. Right now though, Lebda, no doubt about it.

Insert overembelished Holland is a crappy GM post for not signing enough big tough guy players *here*
-
Because he smells really bad. *shrugs* Nah, salary demands are too high I think. He'll end up somewehere in time though.

The Red Wings will outscore the opposition this season by a total of 956 - 3. However, Zetterberg will be limited to 600 goals.

Bring back Jamie Pushor and Uwe Krupp. Enough said there....

Insert overdramatic and ridiculous Shanahan is a traitor for leaving the Red Wings after nearly a decade post *HERE*. Was to be expected. Shanahan and the Wings have moved on in different directions, for the better of both him and the Wings franchise, and he seems happy in NYC. Cheers to Shanahan, kick butt in New York! :beerbuddy:

I can't really comment accurately, cause I don't know how "great" or how "bad" Dallas Drake is, never really paid much attention to his game in Phoenix/St. Louis, but the two seem to play a different game. Both are fairly big, but Lang's more of a playmaker/scorer while Drake's game seems to revolve more around aggresive play and hits, while any scoring now is a bonus from him, given that he's close to hanging up the skates in a few seasons IMO.

I'll play devil's advocate here, we could easily say the same thing about Hasek and his "groin" last year and Yzerman (despite his mental tenacity) and his continuing body injuries. The body eventually wins out over anybody, I don't care who you are, but Hasek/Yzerman were pretty good health risks, and look how well everything worked out with Hasek last season and Yzerman's final season 2 years ago. I'm not gung-ho if the Wings sign Lindros, but I don't think it would be that bad of a signing if it's around $1M/yr w/ incentives, for example.

Always looking forward to a new season of hockey, but I look forward to college football starting first during the summer time. When college football and hockey coincide, SouthernWingsFan is a very happy camper.

Much congrats to the recent engagements MSU and Blak! :beerbuddy:

Well after vacation last week, despite running/exercising for a good chunk of it, eating a lot/bad has put my weight up to 155. I haven't really lost much in the "fit" category, but it's back to the dieting that helped me lose a lot of weight a few years ago. By the end of August I want to be as close to 145 as possible.

You are probably the only one, or the very few in here, that make up crap about all European players playing "soft". It's a terrible generalization and it makes you sound idiotic.

No, it won't.
