Please understand LGWers and Wings fan that this article offers no major hints that the Wings are close to offering a deal to Yashin or something is "all but done", and the same thing goes for all the other players listed in this article. It is pure speculation from a more general sense and is showing no major bias towards one player or is not stating the Wings are going to offer a contract to somebody in X amount of days. Nothing to get too excited about from this article.

Rush Hour 3 is going to kick ass. I love comedy whether it's good or bad, and I love action. Plus Jackie Chan can act like a big dork sometimes, so all the better. Here's another question...why don't more people try to run up slides instead of sliding down? I think that's more entertaining personally.

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=327962 Another Wings-focused article on NHL.com by Larry Wigge about the signing of Rafalski. Also has reports on the other Central Division teams.

*Ding ding ding* Yeah, Screech and Urkel are pretty intimidating looking, I bet both are taller than me. Maybe the three of us fight on the old Celebrity Deathmatch shows on MTV (probably the only show I still watched on a consistent basis on that station then). Why do people say, "When pigs fly", when there is no evidence that pigs can actually fly? Why do people accidentally leave their flys open? Why do traffic reporters say that cars are flying across a highway when there is no traffic when (1) cars can't fly and (2) it's pointless to report on traffic there b/c there is none? Why is Tweety Bird a s**tty flyer?

So who would win in a fight between SouthernWingsFan, Steve Urkel, and Screech? *shrugs*

I don't know man, it's 7:15pm right now, this sun is currently sinking and it's getting darker! That seems like a falling sky!

How so?

Well I guess I'm the other than.

Also, why do tennis players always sound like they are pissed off or having sex when they hit the tennis ball?
-
That's probably a 7th/8th d-man (depth)/AHL signing. All 30 teams sign players like these in the offseason. And while goals are always nice, defensemen are supposed to play DEFENSE first, not score goals first.
-
Well, when you title the thread "Worst offseason in years", when he's seemed to replace Schneider's void, re-sign Hasek who did so well for the Wings last year to another discount, and keep most of last year's roster intact that almost made the FInals, you will get some pretty jumpy conclusions and raise some eyebrows.

Holland: Free Agent Shopping is Probably Done

Yashin isn't my first preference, but ruin the Wings organzation forever? Don't you think you are being way too extreme and melodramatic here? -
http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=327952 Good article on Hasek and re-signing with the Wings this year. Merge with the Hasek re-signing thread if necessary.

Well, to nitpick, Colorado missed the playoffs for the first time in roughly 10 years, so you got to at least think Smyth will improve them to an extent. And St. Louis was actually around .500 last season, a good feat for them given that the were deep in the tank the year before. Overall though, wonderfully stated. I might have joined the ridiculous bickering if the Wings weren't good and didn't make any deep splashes in the wild first few days, but it's not like this roster needs to be re-tooled all that much from last season after nearly making the final 2. Hasek said he was coming back, even though it took some extra time, I highly doubt he was considering other teams, like he said. These deals don't just happen in one-two days, they take time to iron out. Signing Rafalski to "replace" Schneider more/less was probably the biggest plus so far. Most of the main cogs on the team that had a good impact on the ice more often than not last season and in the playoffs, minus Schneider, still remain. The Wings should still be considered strong Cup contenders after last year's run I would think, so what's the problem here?

If a boxing champion is undisputed, what's all the fighting about? Why don't more people urinate on an electric fence? Who died to make you king/queen? Why are clowns scary looking?
-
See one of my last responses. It's still a joke in here to read people STILL thinking the Wings are "soft". Do you people not realize the teams they played in the playoffs?!?!!?
-
The Wings matched the Flames and the Sharks, two teams known for physical play, in the playoffs, and beat both teams.
-
Only chance? This team matched and even outhit supposedly two of "toughest" and "physical" and "biggest" teams in the playoffs this past season in Calgary and San Jose. This team doesn't have much problem right now with the grit/determination/toughness factor. Ba-dum-ching! :rotflmao:

Holland: Free Agent Shopping is Probably Done
SouthernWingsFan replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
Hasek at $2M/year is still a steal. And do you or anybody else in here have any clue how hard being a general manager, of not just a sports franchise, but any business? I'm definitely not a know it all with sports figures and dollar signs but the last time I checked, GMs in the general sense have to manage multiple employees, operations of a business, and monetary spending, among other things. It's a lot harder than what you might read on the Internet or do when you play hockey on the PlayStation. I'm glad Holland doesn't make business deals out of panic like a lot of people on LGW would. -
All of a sudden, my hand smells really bad now. Here's something else I don't get. At sporting events, instead of yelling that the player sucks, why doesn't a fan instead yell, "MY LIFE SUCKS!!!!!!" I think that would be more entertaining and less predictable. I've been taking too much Pepto Bismol lately I think. In addition, why do they call it breakdancing when the objective of breakdancing doesn't involve breaking anything?

Holland: Free Agent Shopping is Probably Done
SouthernWingsFan replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
Big free agent shopping is probably done? Fine by me. This team almost made it to the SCF last year, and I don't see the roster this upcoming season being too much different. It was a bit disappointing to lose Bertuzzi, but I totally understand Holland's stance for not paying $4M for him. Ralfalski seems to replace the void that Schnedier left, at least on paper (not really familar seeing him play yet so...). If there's a decent deal to be had during down time, try to get it done, but I don't want Holland and the Wings to sign somebody just for the sake of signing them or because fans want players X, Y, and Z. Who knows what the hell will happen for the 2007-08 season and in the playoffs which is a long ways away, but I'm pretty comfortable with this roster, especially after the Hasek signing. If Markov is still available, you think we should take a run at him, or re-signing him around the same salary of $2.5M is too much or doesn't give the Wings a decent cushion for trade-deadline deals, etc.? -
Definitely not against signing Forsberg, I think he still has game left in the tank, but it'd have to be a cheap/incentive laden contract with what the Wings did with Hasek last season due to the injury factor.
-
Good for Booter. Wish the Wings could've kept hold of him, even though his time with them was probably running out in making full-time NHL duty. Hope he can do it with NYI!

If I shoot a bullet in the sky, will it put a hole in the sky causing it to fall then? Sounds like a good scientific experiment.
