I wouldn't get too upset about it. Hockey's never going to be a main course down here where I live anytime soon, but I don't care and I don't comapre the NHL to MLB or the NBA. You like watching hockey, so do I, who cares if others think it is weird, cause we aren't going to stop watching it anytime soon. EDIT: In terms of the pads vs. nets debate, I'd definitely like to hear/read more about shrinking pad size up a bit more first over expanding nets, but I still stand by the thought that I wouldn't be against net expansion, even if I'm the only one who thinks this.

Allrighty......... Why does the Tazmanian Devil always slobber and spit and you can never understand what he says when he blabbers, but both his parents and his younger brother/sister all speak in plain English? The logic doesn't add up there... Why does Matt Foley live in a van down by the river?

Quincy Jones - Tryin' To Find Out About You

Sorry, as much as I like him back in his Boston days, he's all but done IMO. And it's not like the Wings are lacking forward depth that can make everyday contributions by either scoring goals or throwing hits.

But which side am I taking Lou, that's the fun of it trying to figure it out!

Andrew W.K. - Party Hard

And you know this how? And I thought the majority of fans wanted more goals, the NHL wanted to increase more scoring? This is a way to do that, and it's not an idea out of the upper deck or left field.

I'm in love with him because he can grow a bitchin' playoff beard.

How about we get rid of the instigator rule AND make the nets bigger. From what I read on FoxSports.com recently, the nets would be expanded 8 inches wider, and 6 inches higher. Might be the other way around, but regardless, do you realize how small of an increase that is, especially to fans attending the games live, espeically those who might be sitting in an upper deck. It would be barely noticeable. It is going to have little/no effect on the game watching, but the players will have a little more room for slappers/deflections, and goalies will have to move even more laterally/side-to-side than before to make saves. Expanding the net size by a small amount would make the game more exciting, and while it wouldn't guarantee an increase in scoring, I think it'll definitely improve the odds. I'd give bigger nets a chance.

But we're still in the days when we can sign anybody and everybody without a salary cap, right? Aren't we? AREN'T WE?!?!?!!??! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Damn the salary cap era! /sarcasm

Really? Guess that explains why I complain so much, even when it's for fun. *shrugs* Also, why the heck do they call turtlenecks those thingies when they don't look anything like a turtle, they are much bigger than a non-mutated ninja turtle, and when I haven't owned any green turtlenecks in my life. Somebody explain, because I am confused...........

Khan - Is there enough cap sapce for Smyth?
SouthernWingsFan replied to rick zombo's topic in General
Get Hasek and Bertuzzi done first like expected... Focus on trying to get at least 1 of Schneider/Markove signed... If the Wings still have cap space left and are able to sign Ryan Smyth, I will do backflips off my rooftop in celebration. -
Plant a tree? You have some people that hug them for crying out loud! Get it?! HOOK?! PIRATE?!?!!? AH HA HA HA HA HA! /laugh embelishment That was pretty damn funny though Lou.

People say the Wings need a 2nd line center because it's the cool and hip thing to do these days! Seriously, as awesome as it is to see Zetterberg and Datsyuk together (keep 'em on the PP at least), I want them separate as much as possible during even strength play. I think they can both produce fine without each other on separate lines, and you want to spread your offensive talent around as many lines as possible I think. Whenever the offense for the Wings just completely dries up, or one of the two guys needs a spark, pair them back together every now and then.

All right I got some more questions that are bugging the hell out of me... Why does it hurt so much when we get kicked or punched in the groin all the time? What did we do to deserve this? Did we piss God off or something? Also... Why do they call it a tumble set, when you aren't actually tumbling? Why can't they just call it a forward head roll or something?

2007 College Football Season Talk
SouthernWingsFan replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in Other Sports
Here's the Michigan college football preview on CollegeFootballNews.com for all the locals. Enjoy! http://cfn.scout.com/2/652466.html -
*Ba-dum-ching* That isn't so much the problem anymore. The Wings proved they aren't going to cower away from "physical" teams by beating teams such as Calgary and San Jose who are known for their "physical" and aggressive play. The Wings dished just as many hits out as well. I won't deny they could use somebody like Smyth or another big forward, but the team doesn't need a whole lot of re-tooling in order to have a better chance at a Cup next season.

Well, they sure did compete very well tihs season and in the playoffs with these defensemen. And let's all cool it with the personal attacks.

I wouldn't mind seeing Roenick with the Wings, for reasons such as this... JR Gets Funky

So you condone a similar action then when Ed Belfour chopped Martin Lapointe in the groin during the 1998 Detroit-Dallas playoff series? And I can't wait to see how this thread is going to relate to Brodeur being "overrated".

Kronwall is ready IMO, he just needs to have a little more luck on his side. I'm netural on the possiblity of signing Souray. If the Wings do, then great, but if not, it'll give guys like Krownall and Quincey more PT.
