I read somewhere, either on Detroit News Online or the Free Press Online late in the regular season that more/less stated that Babcock is constantly riding Hudler and making him really work for his ice time because he thinks Hudler can establish a night-in/night-out presecence in the NHL eventually, either with Detroit or with somebody else, and that he knows Hudler in all likelihood will continue to bust his rear off to play and he requires very little motivation to get on the ice. Would I have liked to see Rex out there more? Of course, but remember that when he played a brief tenure with the Wings in either 2003 or 2004, he was only 19. He's only in his early 20s now so he still has plenty of time to make an impact and establish himself. I hope it is still with the Wings for the next few seasons, and we'll see if his career can take off in a positive way. In terms of the overall game between the two, I'll give that edge to Flipper. Hudler has better finishing ability though IMO.

Bagging on them and calling them even more disgraceful just because they might have dented/nicked the Cup, when anybody/everybody from past teams and past celebrations have done it, is stretching that hatred a bit overboard.

Ack not jersey retirement discussion again!!!!!!! While I wouldn't mind seeing Fedorov back with the Wings, he's not getting his jersey retired IMO even if he did ever come back to the organization.

They won in 16 games, they won despite LEADING THE LEAGUE in penalties, they won in spite of many of us in here not liking many of their players. They weren't handed s**t. Get over it.

I posted this in a recent thread of Dave Lewis getting the shaft. Other than hearing Muckler getting fired, I really haven't read too much into the situation but here's make take overall on these two firings... I can definitely appreciate and understand having high standards and expectations in the corporate or sports world. I'm not saying not to strive for high goals. I might differently if I were the owner of a business, but for me at least though, whenever I read that somebody gets let go off extremely fast, a question of whether it's morally right to do this comes up. Sure we want to win obviously, but sometimes you have to keep your expectations in check and give people more time to achieve goals. I didn't like Lewis getting the boot so early, and I don't know what the heck else Muckler has (or had) to do in his situation, managing a team that has been labeled as being subpar playoff performers over and over again in recent years, and finally playing extremely well to get to the SCF. 15 games in the first 3 rounds is a damned good record to get to the Finals. What more do people need to do sometimes? Some things just don't make sense to me.

I don't think there's much question Lidstrom is better overall, but I'm not going to sound like a Red Wing homer slighting Niedermeyer in any way because Lidstrom is a bit better, because Niedermeyer is still very good, and it's the same way the other way around. In terms of the source, I've never been to allducks.com, but from what I've seen, a lot of people in there don't seem to be all that bright unfortunately.

I certainly don’t think much of Bettman, but I don’t think much of the “Bettman is the devil of the solar system†jabs either, because they are getting as old and stale and annoying as “Lang is lazy and he sucks†or “Trade Draper†or “Wings need grit and size†statements that have no substance or support to them whatsoever. WHY is Lang lazy? WHY do you want to trade Draper, and WHO should the Wings trade him for? WHO should the Wings pick up that fits size and grit, and will they be able to afford him under the salary cap? WHY is Bettman so bad? I don’t care if the answers are obvious. Whenever it’s possible, give us some REASONS, give us some DETAIL, give us brief INSIGHT. Give us WHO/WHAT/WHEN WHERE/WHY. Show us you (not you specifically in this case, speaking more in general terms) know what you are talking about. I don’t think that is too hard of a request. Anybody can say that Bettman stinks or that the Wings need more size, etc. without elaborating.

Why isn't a place like Salt Lake City isn't being considered as a possible move for a team. I'm not trying to say that it is the ultimate place to have a new franchise, but seems like an idea worth at least looking further into the pros/cons in.

I will never get into the "ZOIKIES OMFRICKING GOD BETTMAN IS A MENTAL MORON IDIOT" 1-liners without showing justification or reasons WHY people think he should get fired because they are just stupid to me, but after recently reading that there are plans to increase goal sizes by 8 inches wide and 6 inches high, I'm open to giving it a shot. When you think about it, the nets won't look all that much bigger to the fans, especially if they attend a game live, but the puck is small enough to where it could make some difference, and goalies would definitely have to use more lateral movement.

Road... FYI whenever you watch games on TV in the future, the team you normally see left horizontally or on the top verically the score/clock ticker is the road team. Plus, the road team usually wears white now.

So who really gives a flying crap then that badly over somebody being slighted like that? This is pretty stupid. They've both been nominated for the Norris, they are both two damned good defenseman, why does comparing one over the other, when both have done so many great things, a knock against one player or something towards disrespect? I really don't think Niedermeyer or Lidstrom's feelings will get hurt because fans are thinking they are being "disrespected" when they don't get into any trouble off the ice and have accomplished a lot on it. I think people need to quit reaching for excuses to disrespect either of them and just realize they are both extremely good, cause it's a waste of time.

I think a better question is, why the hell won't the kids give the rabbit any Trix. What the hell did the rabbit ever do to the kids? I think those kids are some mean sons of ******* personally.

5 Norris Trophies isn't enough for respect? He's regarded as one of the best defensemen, if not the best, in the league today by anybody and everybody, and he doesn't get enough respect? Good geezum.

Remember the LOCKOUT? That lasted A LOT LONGER than any offseason. 3, 3 1/2 months is nothing and it'll be September/October before we all know it.

Quincy Jones - Birdland

It was impressive to me, I knew I was getting more endurance before the extremly long and hard run today, but I was suprised how I just pressed on and kept a good pace throughout. Eventually I'm going to try to push to do 6 miles at the pace I did today. I'd get owned in a 40-yard dash, I've never been fast to begin with, and I certainly can't get a big jump or accelerate for s**t now since one of my knees is junked up for life from ACL reconstructive surgery, I'm more of a jogger/paced runner now. It'd be a miracle if I ran a 40 in under 5 seconds.

I don't know so much about the weight loss right now, I weight 148 last time I was on a scale, but after working out 11 days straight now, with a lot of cardio work, and this late afternoon running 5 3/4 miles total in 50 minutes, and killing over 660 calories and doing 23 laps on the treadmill, I hope I'm damned fit! That's the most distance I've ever run in one setting, no headphones cued in to keep me motivated or anything, but somehow I did it, and was able to keep a solid pace throughout even though I was really getting tired with about 15 minutes left. I pretty much ran either 6.5 or 7.0 MPH. With the pace I did, I ran at about 8:40 per mile, which is really good for me because I never did any cross country in high school or anything like that and I am definitely not a fast runner/sprinter/jogger. I'm getting there with the fit aspect.

I've touched it before. Been to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Tornoto once a few years ago and I know I'm not going to be near it anytime soon again in my life so......
