Eric Boudin and War - Spill the Wine
-
Look, whether Lewis is NHL coaching material or not, whether he is "soft", remains to be seen I think. As much as I like focusing on results in sports or business, there comes a point in time where you got to have patience with people. You gotta feel for Lewis, getting the axe after just 2 seasons here and 1 in Boston. While I definitely understand shifting from him to perhaps a more hard-nosed coach such getting Mike Babcock, part of me thinks that getting the shaft that much/that early in your head coaching career just doesn't feel right from an ethical/moral standpoint
-
Sorry, but offsides is a natural part of sports such as hockey and soccer/futbol. While I like high scoring games, gettting rid of offsides would just not feel right, and if it was eliminated, you'd have nearly every player not play defense and just completely stay in the offensive zone, waiting for 100-foot passes from a defeseman. Getting rid of the 2-line pass rule was/is more than enough.

Meh, I'll be 27 in about 2 1/2 months, I'm catching up to these "old" fogeys.

Car repairs suck ass. Drinking wine does not.

Not necessarily, unless another team is added to the mix...It is about an hour drive from Toronto if I had to guess, and Toronto is what, about a 4-5 hour drive from Detroit and they are in different conferences? Buffalo seems to be the closest city to the two.

Bill Withers - Use Me FYI If you have seen the movie Any Given Sunday and can recall the music being played during most of the first half of the Miami team's playoff game at Dallas in the movie, this was the song.

I don't care really one way or the other if they move. I don't hate the Predators (minus Tootoo and their announcers ) and don't take part in the hillbilly/southern stereotypes when they are portrayed on here when he play them, and I don't get all up in arms when they yell the goalies name 3 times then yell "YOU SUCK!" Who cares how they cheer? If they stay in Nashville, great, good for the franchise, good for the city of Nashville. If not, oh well.

There are fans in here who certainly care about him enough that want him to stay. He's a disgrace and cancer? Show us where he is such a locker room cancer, provide us links, because I'm not buying it. Look, I'm indifferent towards Lang either staying or going, it won't really affect me one way or another, but you're being way to extreme here I think. Hell, at the very least, I'd have a few beers with the guy. Lang seems cool and down to earth off the ice. We could share hare some life stories, etc., maybe pull a few pranks if we had a few too many beers. :beerbuddy:

I get yelled at on here all the time, no need for me to apply and humiliate myself further.

First off, this isn't a rip into Coach Babcock, I think he's played a major part in installing mental toughness/desire in this team and this season proved that the Wings should still be serious Cup contenders. Jiri Hudler though, I (like most others I am assuming) is a tough lad to figure out at least when it comes to either being in the doghouse of Babcock or higher up. Granted I barely follow any minor league hockey at all so this might be an unfair assumption, but when he had his brief tenure with the Wings in 2003-04 when he was only 19 (?), I really thought he struggled. While I didn't have a super-sized microscope focused on his play coming into this season to judge immediately whether he was going to be great or he was going to stink up the joint, I didn't think much of him one way or the other in a positive or negative fashion. But, he produced for the most part in his first full year of NHL duty. 15 goals, 25 points with limited ice time and he maybe seems to have some decent potential to maybe be a solid 2nd liner down the road if he keeps working. Would you have given him more ice time in the regular season? How about the playoffs? Would you have played him more maybe than Filppula (assume the playoffs didn't stat yet and before we saw that Flipper pretty much exceeded any playoff expectations I think) or another forward that might have been low on the depth chart? Would you have put Hudler in over Kopecky in the Ducks series? Does Babcock really have something against him? Or is limited his ice time good, and forces Hudler to contiunally work hard and bust his tail off? The fan in me wanted him to get some more playing time obviously, but I think I understand Babcock's handling of him in making him work for his minutes, because he is still very young and he probably doesn't have much trouble staying motivated.

Meh, it's either a love/hate thing with me for Lang. I appreciate the clutch goals he's been able to score the few seasons that he has been with the Wings, but when he isn't doing that, I ask myself, "What planet is this guy on?" It won't kill me to see him go, but I won't be throwing a temper tantrum if he's back on the Wings either. I don't expect him back though.

This is why, other than Friday evenings when there's spinning class I rarely miss, that I work out early in the mornings now Mondays - Thursdays. It's perfect for me, I wake up between 4:00am - 4:30am, eat breakfast and have a cup of coffee, take my time and let my body slowly wake up, then when I get to my health club around 5:30am/5:45am, my body is pretty much fully functional and I usually get a good workout in for about an hour. And not being burned out at that time is really starting to show results as I've really had some solid hard treadmill runs lately, especially this morning. I killed about 285 calories in 20 minutes of running this morning. If I keep that pace for an hour, that's 855 calories then, which is a good bit killed in a short amount of time. If I could just cut out the 1 - 2 times a week I crave fried food or pizza, I'd be down a few pounds, but I'm not all that worried about it because I'm disciplined enough to where I won't just eat crap every day of the week, I work out just about every day (can only remember 1 day over the last 2 - 3 weeks where I didn't do any physical activity), and I'm getting more toned in my chest area by doing a lot of sit-ups and other body exercises/stretches in a sauna room. So, I'm still hovering around 150 give or take a few pounds at 5'7", so it's not like I'm unhealthy looking/overweight to begin with, and I feel like I'm in the best shape in a long, long time.

It's not like Fischer being a FA is going to have much affect, given his situation I think. While I personally am rooting for him 100% to try to do the thing he loves for a living once again and I'm definitely not stopping him, he'll still be a high insurance policy for the NHL. The only way he returns is if he gets proper medical clearance, and I just don't see that happening anytime soon, even if there is another one-and-a-million chance of his condition happening again. 2003 playoffs? While Joseph didn't give up many goals, a lot of the ones he did give up were of the backbreaker variety that he could have stopped probably. 2004 playoffs? Joseph was pretty damned good, especially in the Calgary series when the Wings couldn't score worth a hoot. Every goalie, I don't care if you are Hasek, Joseph, Patrick Roy, Dan Cloutier, or Greg Goldberg from District-5, needs some offensive support, and CuJo didn't get much of it in either playoff season, especially 2004.

Nobody is denying a solid hockey presence in that area. To do so would be insane. But it would also be insane to dismiss the recent success of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons, and the faithful followers of the Detroit Lions even though they have been bad for a long while. Detroitis definitely not just "Hockeytown" and not just 100% hockey.

Not getting ahead of myself, but if this is the case, then see the dancing carrot and banana for my expected reaction. :carrot:

Jiri Hudler - Would you have played him more?

We haven't seen the best excuse yet Lou, but I'll just say it right now.....God is a Duck fan. -
I'll bring the heads of all the media reporting on Paris Hilton. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I DON'T CARE ABOUT HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I don't do good with the pirate talk. Maybe y'all can answer some questions for me, pirate talk or no, but I can't figure these damn things out... Why are gorillas so hairy? Why is the metric system so darn cool to use? Why is Droopy the Dog so sad all the time? Who did it, what is “itâ€Â, and why is “it†always a mystery? Why do children always ask their parents “Are we there yet?†every 3 minutes when they aren’t going to be there for another 30 hours? Why did our parents lie to us about the chicken pox, the Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus? Why do people make loud and annoying noises while roller coasters are in motion? Why don’t they make loud and annoying noises while roller coasters are still? Why aren’t people encouraged to jump on water beds when it looks like so much fun? Why am I such a weirdo asking weird questions?
