Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head

Without question. Hell, if I was original bearer of the rules, I'd probably strike the kicking motion no goal rule from the record. Seems kinda difficult to kick a puck for a goal in an intentional matter, getting the puck in the air and the like. That's why sticks are used. Still, even though I'm against the rule and it's just so slim that a bad incident such as a skate to the face would happen, the possibility still exists, so the rule has to stay. Catch-22 but the rule is there for players' protection.

Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head

Yeah I was pretty irked. I get my TV from a local cable provider, they've been great with Versus and NHL Center Ice this year, but I was a bit irked and perplexed at this one. I know hockey is not even close to the main squeeze down in my neck of the woods, but still, cancelling a game when it's in the championship phase when there's no natural disaster or major emergency, doesn't make sense. I tried going to a sports bar down here that's broadcasted a lot of the playoffs, they have Direct TV, but they couldn't find the game on any alterrnative NBC channels or any other stations. I checked listings though for game 4 Monday, they aren't going to shaft me again from what I checked out. If they do, I'm going nuts with a complaint letter/hate mail. -
Vegas has an arena football team.

Nobody has said he's going to win the Norris trophy.

I never liked how goals are prevented from a deliberate kicking motion, but even though it's probably a one in a million chance that somebody could get severely hurt from a kicking motion from the skate, that possibility still exists, so the rule should stay in place IMO.

Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head

I couldn't get to see any of the game, my local NBC affiliate was running a hospital fundraiser over regularly scheduled programming on NBC all evening. Lame I know, I was pretty pissed, but let's just leave it at that... Anyways, I didn't read the first 4 pages of responses and just saw highlights of the game online. Even after Pronger took a run at Yzerman in the 2002 playoffs and goofed up, I didn't think much of him either positively or negatively. Even then I still gave him some benefit of the doubt. After seeing him elbow Holmstrom the way he did and how he did not take responsibility that he screwed up, and after seeing another elbow this time around, I've lost a lot of my respect for him. You cannot justify either elbow. It's simply indefensible and I don't care what Duck fans say if he was trying to finish his check or whatever else or if he is taller than everybody else. That's a bunch of crap. You don't deliberatly try to hit people high on the head. Any Duck fans that try to justify Pronger's elbow last night, or are still trying to justify his elbow to Holmstrom, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. I'm not going to go on a tirade that the Ducks just always play dirty hockey or everybody on there just lays a bunch of cheap shots all the time. That's not what all the Duck players are about. It's a shame that some really questionable hits by Pronger taints the Ducks though. -
What is worse, the weebles or the wobbles? Why do they tell you to wait 30 minutes after eat before swimming, especially if there are no sharks around that will sense your food and eat you? What makes Garfield so special that we can hear his thoughts and his meows? Why can't we only hear Odie's barks, and not his thoughts? Why can't we go 2-for-2 on the Odie factor? How is Bob th Builder able to build so many buildings, despite only being about 2 feet tall? If a tree falls down in the forest and you are not in the forest at the time of the event, does it still make a sound LOUD ENOUGH FOR YOU TO HEAR? Do tree huggers exist in forests? Why don't port-a-potties have flushers? Where does all the smelly stuff from port-a-potties get transferred to after it gets moved to a different spot?

What is so special about having a tea party? Why don't we ever hear about having a coffee party, or a white/chocolate milk party? Why is tea so much better? Is it far-fetched to think that two laboratory mice trying to take over the world is kind of silly? Why can Darth Maul have a two-sided light saber, while the others just have one side? Are stalagmites better, or stalagtites, and why is one better than the other? Why is Pepto Bismol always pink? Why can't it be like orange or green or something?

Ain't this the cold-hard truth...

All right I got a few more things that are bothering me... Instead of love-15-30-40 in tennis, why the hell can't they just do 0-1-2-3? And along those lines, why do so many women tennis players where short skirts to where you can see their under apparel? Why have all of our 2nd grade teachers always smelled weird and were so evil? Why are outside voices always louder than inside voices, and which voice is better to use, and when? Why can't you use as many perverted cliches in such sports like cross country or curling, as compared to golf or baseball? Do I have what it takes to be a real American hero like G.I. Joe? How the hell is Superman able to jump and fly so high, without having any mutating powers?

Good answers there... Here are some more questions... What is so great about sliced bread other than the fact that it is not a full piece of bread? When somebody really takes the cake, where do they take it? Who is scarier, the Lockness Monster or Michael Jackson, and why? Did O.J. do it? And did Britney Spears (yuck) do it again? What makes you urinate more and urinate faster....coffee or beer?

I really, really hope the Wings can re-sign Markov. I think he is more of a priority to sign than Schnieder. I'm trying not to knock Schneider. It definietly wouldn't have killed me if this was his final season if we were talking and debating prior to this seaaon starting. He played well esp. this postseason, and while I certainly won't mind if he returns, we already have a guy who plays a similar game like him, and he is Nicklas Lidstrom, and we all know how good he is. I want Markov's snarl first, then worry about re-signing Scheider. I don't want getting Schneider back as an excuse or crutch not to re-sign Markov.

Sources: NHL to schedule outdoor game for 2007-08
SouthernWingsFan replied to Motown's topic in General
LOL That'd be funny! Why the hell not, it's just 1 game. It's not going to significantly do much to help or hurt the NHL IMO. Just a marketing gimmick that probably won't do much, but it's not like it's going to kill anybody, so might as well give it a whirl. -
God I love conspiracy theories. No wait, I don't. The NHL is fixed that badly? Come on, give me a break and stop wasting our time.

Yes, the Wings outplayed the Ducks for a fair amount of the series and the Ducks won. The Wings outplayed the Ducks for most of the series in 2003 and the Ducks won. This year, the Sharks took a good bit of the play to the Red Wings in the 2nd round and the Red Wings won the series. Unlike 1-8 seeds in the NBA (minus No. 8 Golden State beating No. 1 Dallas this year), very rarely are there series in the NHL playoffs where one can accurately say, from the get go before the series starts, that team XYZ will win in a cakewalk in 4 or 5 games, regardless of if they are 1 or an 8 seed.. It rarely ever happens, and goofy bounces against you and a goalie that steps his play up can help an underdog win a series. Remember last year in the Western Conference? Seeds 5-8 beat seeds 1-4, and seed 8 went to the WCF. You aren't always going to win the game even if you carry most of the play. This is an normal part of NHL hockey and you all sound like this is some brand new invention in the universe. As much as I don't like some of the Ducks personnel (*cough Proger* *cough Burke*), give them their fair amount of credit. The Wings outplayed them for a good stretch, specfically in games 3 - 5, but the Ducks did just enough to win the series. It's time for us to get over it.

You don't know this. He's only been in the NHL for what, 2, 3 years? He could play the next 10 years without any major injuries at all? Not likeliy obviously but nobody here can honestly tell me with 100% confidence that he'll keep having a major injury every 1 or 2 seasons.

Allright Offsides or whoever else that wants to get involved... These questions have been bugging the hell out of me lately and have been keeping me up late at night over the past month. Maybe you could help me get some answers... Why is PI 3.14159265? What is so special about PI, and why should I care about it? How does it impact my life? Are all strippers dumb? Why do some camels have one hump, while others have two? Is the two-humped camel more special than the one-humped camel because of an extra hump? Where is the place that no man has gone to before, and why can’t I go there? Why are sumo wrestlers so fat, and why can’t they just wear pants like everybody else? Why are squirrels so fortunate to have ownership of multiple nuts? What makes them so special that they can have more than two? Why does Yosemite Sam have a bad temper, and why is he always so mean to Bugs Bunny? Are those real? What are those? What is so special about those? Can I have those? Is Dino really a dinosaur, or is he a dog?

Not necessarily, but that is entirely subjective from fan-to-fan, poster-to-poster. While I won't argue or deny that the Wings had more of the opportunities to put the series away, they didn't do quite enough to finish the job, especially being up 2-1 at one point. Anaheim did just enough while not playing their better hockey until game 6. They did just a little bit more with a little bit less. That's annoying, yes, when you feel that you have outplayed them more often than not in the series, but give them credit where it's due there. The Ducks could just steamroll Ottawa these next two games at Ottawa and people, generally speaking, could be saying that they were the best team in the playoffs in just 20-21 games (5 in 1st round, 5 in 2nd round, 6 in CF, 4 or 5 in SCF). Ottawa was the best team in the playoffs before the first two games of the Finals, and look what happened. That being said though, this series is not even close to being done. The Wings have both rallied and bungled up 2-0 leads in the past (Pistons are on life support now after leading 2-0, sorry to bring that up fans ), so who knows, even though we didn't see Ottawa's best in game 2, a lot could happen with a change of venue and from game-to-game, we could be saying that Ottawa is the best team in hockey after all if they rally, taking only 21 or 22 games to win the Cup (5 in 1st round, 5 in 2nd round, 5 in CF, 6 or 7 in SCF).

Nah, not at this time. His trade value is in the crapper for the time being regardless because he just cannot catch a break with injuries. I like the way he plays. Not afraid to be physical and I still think he has good offensive upside. And he's still fairly young. I'm nowhere near giving up on Krownall. If he starts tearing it up with the Wings close to when his 5-year deal ends, who knows what he might bring as trade bait, but that's way, way too early to even consider now, and for now I think he is an absolute keeper.

Which is why I have a Wings nickname and I'm on a Wings forum. :looney: Well dang gum it, you caught me! God that was a great dream I had of him last night! Maybe I should take my invisible cash from my invisible safe from my closet and just bribe the refs some more then. :looney: But playing with you and messing with your head is so much fun! Don't leave!!!!!!
