Please stop and quit dogging people for being realistic without saying stuff like "THIS TEAM SUCKS OR HAS NO DRIVE" or things similar. When this series was 0-3, many people in here were simply just playing the odds and being realistic and it was safe to assume that the series was all but over. The general consensus was that and very few of these people were throwing individual players under the bus, they weren't roasting the goalie, they weren't wanting a firesale of a new roster. Just that when you are down 0-3, the odds are slim and none, nothing more/less. I can bet you pretty much all these people went in to watch game 4 as well wanting and hoping that the Wings could keep their season alive. Count me in this general consensus. And let's get one thing clear, in a similar/we believe thread where it was pretty much just a homer pom-pom cheerleader thread, I dogged people who basically were condescending towards others for continuing to believe no matter how terrible the odds are. I consider myself a hopeful optimist most the time but I'm not going to deny when the odds are slim and none. Give up? No. But I'm not going to ignore when the odds are crappy. I'm really sick of seeing fans of both sides in here belittling the other side. You want to be an eternal optimist who is nothing but a cheerleader? Great, more power to ya, I understand where you are coming from and I like that you are one of these people. Don't belittle others for being realistic and nothing more/less when the odds are not in your favor. And if you are one of those people that in the end want to tell people I told you so, don't do it where the mood is one of being a cheerleader or one of hope. Pretty much everybody here wants the Red Wings to win regardless of how they display their attitudes or emotions or whatever.

Seriously dude. You have to stop looking at every response in here regarding Hudler as being an attack on your boy.
-
I have no sources or what not, just a guess from me, but I'm guessing a good bit of this had to do with matchups and having the last line change being at home. That being said, Hudler had a very solid game. I am guessing though and would not be surprised if they put Draper back in for game 7, another natural centerman and not having the last line change, etc. And Franzen's status doesn't really have much to do with this current roster shakeup. I think Modano still gets the nod to replace him first if he can't go.

Wings Have A GREAT Chance To Win Tonight...
SouthernWingsFan replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
I would normally dog you on #4 for your Hudler obsession but I saw this coming a mile away and even then I knew it was going to give me a chuckle. Great response thread, hehe. -
Nicely stated. You are just simply playing the odds, and (at least when it was 0-3) the odds are slim/none. I have little doubt that the people who are simply being realisitc and nothing more/less want and hope the Wings can rally, and would've still watched game 4. What I hate are self-righteous people who think you are turning your back on the team simply because you are stating and thinking the obvious, and taking that as a form of being negative. Conversely, I hate the negative dimwats who basically claim defeat before we even start just to get a rise out of people. Basically, I hate both groups because both feel they have to beat their chests saying how either great they are as fans or because I was right all along and you are stupid for not believing me.

Nope. The person below me thinks this is funny.

I wonder if the NHL and Bettman see to it that those fans got thrown out. DISCLAIMER: I am going along the angle of ruining fan experiences in general and not going for Bettman might favor Nasville/insert team name "here" and hates Detroit (which I really do not like it when fans get into that most the time in here, though I do get it)

Watch the game. And if somebody tries to pin the loss on you if they do lose, knee them in the nuts. *shrugs*

Could've chose different choice of words, but I doubt Marleau is losing much sleep or time over it. Generally speaking the message is still the same if he used those words or something nicer - Marleau needs to play better. He doesn't need to really apologize for anything.

I typically wear a jersey whenever a game is on but that's it pretty much. Nothing special and I don't consider that to be the magic solution if my favorite team wins or loses a game or whatever. I don't do anything that stands out. So, I get them and understand why fans can be superstitious but it's not really my cup of tea.

This Pens fan thinks the Sharks lost the series
SouthernWingsFan replied to thegreat66's topic in General
Hopefully so. More/less I think everybody here was preaching the same thing back in 2009 after we beat the tar out of you all in game 5 but couldn't seal the deal twice. So nothing is guaranteed, but if you are a big believer in momentum/psyche, this is as good as it gets up this point so far with an insane comeback. Momentum etc. definitely plays a factor but after that first initial push in a game that everybody typically likes to mention (which usually holds out to be true to varying degrees), you have to sustain that intensity/drive and momentum after the first 10 minutes or whatever, or the other team could eventually get into the game then. -
Remember When 3rd Period Leads Were Safe?

Not in the slightest!!!!! Paging LeonardSankar....Where are you?! Why so silent? -
Surprised this hasn't been brought back up yet so I'd figure I'd do so after Abdelkader's bonehead penalty late last game. What he did was obviously reckless and inexcusable and some people have called for him to be scratched next game, which I defintely understand given the frustration in the heat of the moment as well as him having somewhat shaky of a series. And, at least for the final period (assuming the game went into overtime) he deserved to be shackled to the bench. The Wings need his hustle and aggression though. The good news is that what he did is easily fixable and I have little doubt he probably learned that he screwed up severely and it nearly cost them the season and that he will play with more controlled aggression. I want Abdelkader in and I think he has a bright future, hopefully it is all with the Wings for the foreseeable future.

I get that coaches can sometimes be stubborn in general, in any sport. You also got to wonder if Modano annoucing early that Modano was probably done after this season has anything with him to do not cracking the lineup over a few other reserves as well where he has more offensive potential. I'm not dogging Modano for coming out saying what he said, I don't think it was a pity party or cry for attention or being overly dramatic or whatever, just basically that he was probably going to hang them up after this season, nothing more or less. If Franzen's ankle is as bad as it was as game 4 went on (and assuming Miller gets the nod over Hudler again), would stubborness or Modano's "talk" prevent him from getting in again.....
-
Except that it was hard to really tell that the Sharks took any obvious penalties late in the game. This coming from a team that dives and sells like the best of them to draw calls. Refs just stink and are inconsistent more often than not. Nothing more or less.

This. Just trying not to say anything to give anything away, but it's pretty obvious that Datsyuk has some kind of hand or injury problem if he's not taking any face-offs. Nothing really to read into it regarding this by either team. EDIT: that's hand or wrist problem I meant to say. My fault.

Never really been nutty on goaltenders like some Wings fans, generally speaking of course, are. Whether that perception is accurate or not. Last postseason was he great? Not always. Was he the sole reason or a major reason why they got eliminated early. Nah, I don't think so. He certainly didn't steal games or whatever, but he didn't play awful overall by any stretch of imagination. You could make a case this postseason so far that he is the team MVP.
-
Franzen's going to be game-time, plain and simple. Unless his ankle gets miraclly better, I'd put Modano in over him but we're not going to know until Tuesday evening. As for Abdelkader, he's not coming out and can't come out. He made about as bonehead of a play you can make, yes, and deserved to be tied to the bench accordingly for the rest of the period at least (assuming it went into overtime). The Wings need his energy and spunk. While what he did there was inexcusable, in general they need his energy out there. I have no doubt he learned a lesson that he severely f'ed up and will probably play with more controlled aggression.
-
That would really really hurt though, so I'll pass. Again, it's not my problem if you don't like my stance. I don't think there's stuff going on behind the scenes, you do. Cool, that's your deal and you are entitled to it, no problem. You could've simply said I disagree with you and it could've been left at that. I'm not the one starting stuff being a smart-allec and copping attitude. You want to keep this up?
-
Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm saying and implying. You need me to write it out in crayon for you? I can play the cutesy game as well.
-
Good for you as well, my point still stands no matter how much you might not like it. That's your tough luck.
-
There could certainly be something going on behind the scenes, but I'm not going to waste my time thinking about it or getting angry about it, and it's not my job to figure it out. I don't like being angry or paranoid about things.
