This is me on a chilly fall afternoon in October in West Point, NY. College I went to had a football game at Army and decided to take a vacation to NYC and upstate NY. Picture of me just hanging out, taken two summers ago I think. Don't have any recent good ones of me solo, but I look about the same as I do in the second pic there. Very little hair, but I have darker/smaller glasses frames now (like that makes a difference in me being any more funny looking ).

Lilja definitely deserves kudos for handling his screw up like a professional, not cowering away, and answering all questions and taking responsibility. It's a shame it played a major part in costing the Wings the game, but his play overall this playoffs has been extremely solid and he's busting his rear out there. He's definitely made me proud so far this playoffs, and I hope it's been the same for other members as well. And everybody here on LGW deserves some kudos as well. While I didn't go into any game day threads yesterday, so I probably avoided him getting roasted immediately after the gaffe which is to be expected in the heat of the moment obviously, I have not seen one typical Lilja ripping post once the atmosphere started to calm down later in the evening. Everybody give yourself a pat on the back for sticking behind Lilja and giving him his deserved credit.

I'm feeling damned good. Didn't worry too much about the loss yesterday evening or thought about it much, got a good bit of sleep. Had one of the best workouts in a long while early this morning, and had a solid day at work. Today was a great day, I am cautiously optimistic tomorrow night will be the same.

Um, you realize the Wings won a game in this series by 5 goals? Babcock can't control the opposing goalie ripping saves out of his rear and almost single-handedly winning the last two games for them.

Everybody in this thread, whether you are a Wings or a Ducks fan, grow up. Now, I'll be the first one giving Giguere kudos. Without him and a few bounces going the Wings way, this series is currently 3-2 Wings or is over with by now.

Blaming the refs is a cop-out excuse. Not saying they don't make bad calls, it is defiintely inconsistent, but it's been that way for ALL TEAMS, not just the Red Wings.

I know this thread was made with the intent of being a smart-ass and I'm totally with that, but I'm going to bring the serious vibes in here... I'm not denying at all that the officiating has been inconsisent this series, and this whole playoffs. But I'm really tired of seeing posts in here thinking that the calls are going completely against the Wings. How about Niedermeyer's phantom hooking call on Lebda that led to a PP goal in game 4? What about Grier's "interference" call in game 5 on Hasek where he barely did squat, which led to a PP goal? It has been inconsistent across the board for all teams in the playoffs, and I absolutely cannot stand when people in here use the officiating as the main crutch or an excuse to lose a game. You can bring in several what-ifs, what if the Wings did or didn't do this to lose a game, that blaming the refs is a cop out excuse.

The Red Wings outhit the Ducks last game by a fairly large margin.

I think the coach and players know who is on the hot seat and what is on the line already. Nobody needs a spanking or a stern talking to. They are all professionals and know what they have to do.

Don't watch game 6 then. Awesome way of handling the questions, so it seems, by Lilja. Kinda interesting how you can go from game hero to goat that quickly. That being said, even though he really screwed the pooch today, he's been one of Detroit's better defenseman overall this playoffs. His play has made it a lot easier for the Wings, overall, in the postseason.

Then don't watch the next game then. I still like the Wings chances. Let's face it, make fun of his pads or not, Giguere is a solid goalie. He's won them these past 2 games. That being said, you never know what is going to happen. I have 2002 to refer to that makes me feel all neat inside, that they have rallied before, and I'll be damned to throw in the towel again. My mentality right now is, drop the puck now. I'm ready for game 6 RIGHT NOW. Hasek WILL STEP UP (not that he played bad by any stretch of the imagination today). He did in 2002, and it's going to take something good or clean to beat him a few times. He's not giving up any bad goals on Tuesday. The Wings are winning this f**king series.
