Will the Wings win game 5? The Magic 8 Ball says...

Well damn blasted there, don't I look a wee bit silly... From arrogrance and intelligence, I meant arrogance and idiocy, I guess on this thread topic, and from my first post in the thread as well.
-
While I'm glad Pronger got justified suspension for his hit on Holmstrom and I don't like him that much, this thread reeks of arrogance and intelligence, and the hatred of Pronger right now by the collective majority in here is getting a little bit ridiculous and borderline obsessive.

Dear god, please don't say "Let's Make a Deal" or whatever that who wants to be a millionaire show is. As you can tell, I don't keep up with any of the TV shows of today.
-
*Sigh* This doesn't take anything away from Pronger being a helluva hockey player, but not owning up to what he did wrong is making me lose some respect for him.

No worries glascow, I've been funny looking my whole life. Check out my profile for my pic.

Just stumbled across this in Detroit News online... http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../705190416/1128 It's a shame the melee had to happen, it's good that the Senators organization is reaching out to Cyril Leeder though in a gesture of good faith.

I'm very comfortable with myself, and I'm still going to say ewwww to that picture. I'm all for lifting weights and getting stronger, I do it nearly every day, but bodybuilding to that extreme is absolutely disgusting to me whether you are a man or woman. Anyways, I love watching the Red Wings, I love watching the New Orleans Saints, I love watching my alma mater play sports, and so forth. I am so glad though that I don't take this stuff too seriously and get all emotionally jacked up. This, unfortuantely, is nothing unusual in sports, whether it is too much beer in the body or not. And to think, when incidents such as these happen here in the U.S. or Canada generally speaking, they are generally more serene than soccer riots that might occur in South America or Europe or something. When I was back in college I went to a road football game at one of my school's main rivals. First off, it was TCU at SMU, so it definltely isn't Texas/OU of Michigan/OSU rivalry type. Anyways, still, the game was at SMU in Dallas. Not a huge rivalrly but still, some unpleasentness between the schools. I rarely have a lot of drinks at games or get all hyperactive at events due to s**t that could hit the fan because of alcohol or emotions and such, like what happened in Ottawa. There was just some heckling going on between fans of the two schools at the game near the section I was sitting/standing in, nothing too obnoxious or ridiculous, one decided to be an a**hat and throw a beverage on the other guy, then a scrum broke out. It was really, really stupid. The few jackasses at a sporting event that will go over edge unfortunately will never go away, regardless of gender, and it's a shame because it takes away from the enjoyment of others who JUST WANT TO WATCH THE GAME. That's certainly all I want to do at a sporting event.

I have little doubt that the Honda Center overall is a good place to watch a game in. In terms of bad ice surfaces, I couldn't really accurately guess what is the worse now, but from going to college in the Dallas-Fort Worth area from 1999-2004 and seeing a few games in Reunion Arena where the Stars used to play during my early college years, their ice surface was AWFUL! Also, remember back when the Wings-Stars played in the '98 playoffs. The temperature was unbelievably hot during the games in Dallas, around 100 I think. I really did like Reunion Arena though, despite whenever somebody shot the puck in the offensive zone, the puck would just die after crossing the goalline. New/modernized arenas are great, don't get me wrong, but I really like compact bowl-shaped arenas where you are nearly on top of the ice without any bad seats, like Reunion Arena or JLA where it can easily get loud with some fan involvement. And Reunion could get loud in a hurry.

Didn't read the first page of this thread, so my apologies for repeating anything... Home ice overall in the grand scheme of things is overrated I think. Don't get me wrong, having the home crowd loud and revved up is always a good thing, but it's not the end of all solutions that will help a team win at home. The Wings have a respectable 4-4 record on the road in the playoffs this year, and the Shark Tank and Saddledome are very difficut venues to play in I think. So home ice isn't "everything". However, if a series ever came to seven games, home is where it is at.

So because I'm not "gramatically correct" I'm not a real fan? Please, spare me the snobbiness. I'm not a real fan? I finally started watching hockey around my teenager years in the mid-90s. I've lived in a city/market where hockey is all but non-existant. Even when New Orleans had a minor league hockey team for a few years in the late 90s, they weren't the main squeeze of the own. I started watching and understaing hockey, getting familiar with the rules and such before the Red Wings won a Cup. I continued watching after the lockout when the NHL was on thin ice, and I still watched the Detroit Red Wings nearly every game this year even after the familiar names changed with Yzerman retiring and Shanahan playing on the Wings nearly every year since I started watching them. I flew to Detroit for the first time ever two seasons ago to attend a few games live, and did the same this season. But I guess since it was the regular season that I saw games instead of the NHL PLAYOFFS (oops I mean STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS for the snobs), my fan status is in question. So spare me the I'm not a real fan bulls***.

I wouldn't sweat it so much. You like the sport, you like watching it, that's all that matters. Not many people are aware of the NHL playoffs down here. I know of one pretty good sports bar that has consistently shown the playoffs, but that's it. Doesn't really bother me, cause watching hockey and being a Red Wings fan makes me happy. Don't care if it is unorthodox or against the norm with sports culture down here.

Who owns this town? Wings or Pistons?

We're bipolar in here? That's a huge understatement. That's like saying that I'm not an exciting guy or a handome man. Or that Ricky Williams likes marijuana. Or that Rupaul is an ugly drag queen. Or that Florida's voting machines are completely screwed up.

Pressure is a subjective thing IMO. There is pressure on both teams to step up. However, if you want to look at it the good way... Round 1...Wings-Flames even after 4 games, Wings win game 5, then game 6. Round 2...Wings-Sharks even after 4 games, Wings win game 5, then game 6. So 2 for 2 in that scenario so far. Who knows what the hell will happen on Sunday but with Hasek almost always stepping up after a game where he might have played better (at least with the Wings so far) and with Lang-Cleary-Bertuzzi being very good last night, if they can keep it going and Datsyuk-Zetterberg can continue being successful at home, don't see why they can't make it 3 for 3 this playoffs in this scenario.
-
If anything I'm looking at some of the ticky tacky calls that were made. Niedermeyer's "hook" on Lebda which led to one of the Wings PP goals was one of the worst calls I have ever seen. No way in hell that should've been a power play. With Flipper, he's played really well this last series. Another year or two of developing, I think he'll be one of the top 2 centers for this team.
-
Oh my god! One of the few posts in this thread so far where somebody is actually thinking and using their brain correctly! Did it ever occur that another team (or largely in this case last night, one player) might actually have played just a little bit better and a little more solid than the Wings to help them lose? That man is Giguere. I'm not going to go so far to say he "stole" last night from the Wings, but I'm coming very close to that. Babcock has installed a no-nonsense and no-excuse mode in his players. Just give your best effort. work hard, finish your checks (cleanly of course) and go to the net when you can and go about your business after. Here's to Babcock overall this season. :beerbuddy: 1 loss does not change that. I absolutely love, and loathe at the same time, panic mode in here.

I'll throw another one out now that I thought of it. Down 3-2 in the WCF against Colorado in 2002, going back on the road for game 6, Hasek just absolutely SHUT THE DOOR in a solid shutout win 2-0. Wings went back home for game 7, he did his part again and te offense exploded. I'm not hoping for a similar scenario after Sunday obviously, but Hasek came ultimately came through when needed the most in 2002. I'm not boasting or being overconfident, but I am cautiously optimistic that he can certainly come through again when needed most.
-
I'll definitely play right now. Almost have always seen Hasek bounce back big after maybe not his greatest game. Hopefully this trend continues Sunday. Minus 1 brainfart turnover, Bertuzzi played his best game in the Winged Wheel yesterday. His line with Lang and Cleary was phenomenal. If they are kept together for game 5 and if Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom/Datsyuk-Flipper-Holmstrom get going at the same time, this could be a dangerous team offensively. Wings have won BIG at home in game 5 of their first two series tied 2-2, erasing past game 5 struggles. Hopefully they do the same Sunday.

You are so bi-polar it is hilarious. :rotflmao: No, this is not another case of you "calling it as you see it." You are bi-polar. One minute you are like "the Wings are done" and then you think they are great. Hasek is the 'tender for Detroit right now. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. He did not play bad last night. He was screened nicely for both of Anaheim's PP goals, the first shot in on him was a good one, and Selanne was a bang-bang broken play. Why can't we ever give credit to the other team, especially Giguere in this case, and that they might have capitalized on their chances more than the Wings? Why the f**k do we have to scapegoat our own players when they didn't even play halfway that bad. I'm not one who throws out stats a lot and I'm not Hasek's biggest fan, but here are three... 7-0 in playoff series for Detroit. 1 for 1 as Detroit's goaltended winning a Cup (OK, 1 for 1 1/2 if you include 2003-04) And I cannot recall one time where he might not have had is best game, where he just didn't step up huge next game. I expect to see the same trend of him stepping up big after not the greatest loss on Sunday. Again.... Your are bi-polar and a bad bandwagoner.
