Not too shabby of news, but until I see more of active practices, being able to throw the body around (to an extent obviously, want to be cautious), and so forth, I'm not going to get too far ahead of myself. Cautiously optimistic that Kronwall can come back, but not expecting him to until I learn more.

Nice video with Vladdy visiting the Wings last Sunday

Out of the three recent Cup wins over the past ten years (hopefully four ), absolutely nothing compares to 1998 seeing Konstantinov being able to hold the Cup and beeing wheeled around. A very chilling moment for me as a fan, and a great team/family. -
Great, this thread again... :nonono:

While Ottawa has a good stranglehold on the series right now, a bounce here/there Buffalo's way, and they could easily be leading the series 2-1. Nothing is over until one team wins that important 4th game. And Buffalo is not going to roll over and die easily. If they are able to sneak out with a win in Ottawa in game 4 and win game 5 at home, the series will get very interersting, very fast. It's a realistic possibility that it could happen. It's a shame they couldn't build off their huge start in game 2. Kinda like the Wings strong start against them way early this season and we lost to them in a shootout. And I'm not going to say the Wings or the Ducks (or the Senators) are in trouble in the SCF until one of those teams is down 2 games or facing elimination. Everybody thought Philly would just maul the Wings in 1997 in the Finals before the series was even played, and look what happened... You just never know how games are going to shape out.

Interesting, I would not have seen this coming. Nothing against Kopecky, I like the way he plays, but he hasn't played in forever, and is a rookie. I would not have expected him to be in tomorrow night. Even though he is bigger than Hudler, I would've gone with Hudler if this scenario played out. Hudler has done a fair amount with his limited ice time and chances. But, that is why I am not behind the bench. You gotta feel for Calder though, injured hand and all. I didn't know much about him at the trade deadline when the Wings picked him up but I really like his style of play when he's healthy. That being said... Go Kopecky, get better soon Calder, and be ready for your number to be called Hudler! Babcock doesn't like HC. *shrugs*

All right, but for every objective post, you have to pay me $5 and do 20 jumping jacks. Just messin', welcome aboard! :beerbuddy:

That and traveling between 2-3 time zones over the past month frequently is a ***** and a half and takes a toll on the body.

Settle down Sparticus, the game isn't until tomorrow. Have always been shaving since the playoffs started, and well before. I can grow an insane beard, it's pretty much fully grown if I don't shave for 2 days, but I just like the clean look. I've grown goatees before, but they always itch like crazy a few days after they are broken in. Hell, if I haven't shaved since the playoffs started, I'd probably be fired from my job and I'd probably look like Tom Hanks after 4 years stranded on the deserted island in Cast Away.

Did Game 2 cut out for anyone else? (Versus)
SouthernWingsFan replied to Datsyukgrl_in_ATL's topic in General
I think VS and the NHL have extended their contract to around 2010. To the original topic, I had a similar problem before game 4 of the Calgary series. All my other stations worked but for some reason, Versus didn't. Just went to a sports bar with Direct TV to watch it. S**t happens every now and then that is out of our control. It sucks, but what can ya do, not really healthy to contiually piss and moan about it. And Versus coverage has been all right, I've got no complaints. After ESPN dropped NHL live games, I am just glad a network is broadcasting games, PERIOD. I don't need high definition, I don't need 2 hours of pre/post-game, as long as you give me a live game with a decent screen quality, I'm not that hard to please. Versus is doing that, they are giving hockey and the NHL more attention than ESPN ever did in recent years. It's up to them and local cable providers to make the station more available in the years to come. Versus is doing a satisfactory job. -

Enough bitching about the 3rd goal in for Anaheim. The puck on a goalie's chest doesn't constitute a frozen puck, the referee wasn't intending to blow the whistle (yet), it was a legit goal. They deserved to win game 2. Get over it, all of us. Anyways, also a nice looking trend is that in 1998 we were also down 2-1 to Phoenix and came back to win that series 4-2. :beerbuddy:

The NHL is making it harder for the Wings to win? A fair chance to win by the NHL? Come on now, don't you think you are being a bit overdramatic here? The NHL, or the refereeing for that matters, has absolutely nothing on making things fair for the Wings. ZERO. The reason I add the officiating in this statement is that it is often complained about on here. Justified? Most times I'd say so, but realize that refereeing is inconsistent all across the board, not just for the Red Wings. Anyways, back to the main topic at hand. Other than your ridiciulous part of the post about "fair chances", I'm on board for the rest of it. I can't imagine how hard it is to make ends meet, generally speaking, in Michigan right now for most people. That being said though, if the Wings make the SCF (knock on wood), and they are fortunate enough to get one of those games on a Saturday if they do advance, and if I don't have to travel for work the beginning of next month, I might bite the bullet and get a ticket. I can afford an expensive game ticket or an expensive plane ticket, but probably not both at the same time, especially with me going to get some major car repairs and work done soon in all likelihood, which I wouldn't be surprised if that cost me around $1,000. We shall see what happens.....

1. Calder is playing with an injured wrist. 2. Kopecky, while I like him, hasn't played in forever. He's a rookie. Depth with the wingers isn't depleted by any stretch of the imagination. Forcinga rookie in smack dab in the middle of his first playoff action after a 4-5 month layoff, when he hasn't done anything to turn any heads, is not a wise idea to me. Kopecky has certainly impressed, but not to the extent right now to earn ice time.

Knocking on wood of course...if the Wings advanced to the SCF, which of the two teams that Hasek formerly played on do you think he wants to face, or who do you want to see him face if the Wings advance? Buffalo - He obviously did just about everything there humanly possible to help make Sabre teams competitve and try to make deep playoff runs. 6 Vezina trophies during his long time there, and almost a Stanley Cup when most Sabre teams where offensively challenged when he was there. Ottawa - The place where he tried to rejuvinate his career after things didn't work so smoothly in Detroit in 2003-04 with the 3-ring goalie circus. He was kicking butt in early and mid-season, but he got injured long-term and left Ottawa fans with a bad taste in their mouth IMO. I'm betting Ottawa fans would be very happy if they were to see the Senators (if they make it to the SCF of course) to see their former 'tender and beat them due to how distractions resulted from the injury. However, I'm going to go with Buffalo. All the history and things that Hasek accomplished there, I think if the Wings and the Sabres would be able to advance, he'd be really motivated to win against the team where he established a great career in. Debate!

I bet he thinks Bertuzzi has a nice tan as well (a la Osgood/Yzerman interview years and years ago).

I was still in college, but I wasn't taking any summer school classes so I was back home here for a few months working an internship at an advertising agency. The agency is located on the outskirts of the French Quarter which is kinda cool. Anyways after work I walked a few blocks to a sports bar attached to the Hilton hotel in downtown New Orleans and there were actually a fair amount of Red Wings contingency there of about 10 - 15 or so. Not bad for down here. I ate dinner there and we all celebrated the blowout. :beerbuddy:

I would've given him an "Inc" for incomplete That'd be cool instead of "C" or "A" on the jerseys of some, there would be goofy abbreviations like "Inc" or "e=mc2".

The Wings have faced both in the playoffs. The Wings have lost series to both the Flames and Ducks in the past, with both Kipper and Giguere being major forces in those series. The Wings have beaten Kiprusoff tihs year, and hopefully will be able to do the same to Giguere this series. Who do you think is the better 'tender, in terms of playing the Wings in the playoffs now/in the recent past, and overall? This is a pretty tough decision, but I got to give the slightest of edges to Kiprusoff. He's just so consistent, fundamentally sound. This is taking absolutely nothing, zero away from Giguere though (spare the "big pads" jokes).
